LAP3 ECU and TCU Review

Hey all, just joined and wanted to post my runs from this morning, I'm tuned with Lap3 Stage 1.5 ECU and Lap3 Stage 2 TCU, along with fbo (oem primaries, oem fmic). My only issue now is hooking my tires at launch, so I think I need to lower my psi a bit for these cold roads. Even with a bit of wheelspin, I broke into 11.16s quarter and a 3.28s 0-60. I think it definitely has lower to go when it hooks and I get the 60 ft lower.

I can't say enough good things about LAP3 and working with David Chung and their community, my car runs incredibly stable and is my daily. I've had zero issues with the ECU or TCU tune. No overboost whatsoever, it's quiet and calm when needed but puts in work on demand. Thank you LAP3!

Hell yea Jake! For a 1.5 tune that thing is freaking moving! A 1.6 60ft and you are staring 10's in the face. Pretty impressive.

Wow. Just to recap, though - all the tunes still ask for super high octane or meth? I am mixing E30 with the jb4, but sometimes I can't get the E85, so I have to run 91 - so I flip my wiper switch to go down from map 3 to map 2 or map 1.

I LIKE the "set it and forget it" convenience of an ECU tune, and Lap3 seems to be moving up in their reputation, but it seems like there's no support for running lower octane sometimes, unless you just go for a really mild tune right off the bat?

You can run the lap3 1.5 ecu on 93 only. I don’t have e85 pumps locally to me and drive 200+ miles a week now so whichever tune i decide on, I will use 93 only. I’m debating between the Lozic 1.4 bar vs the Lap3 stage 1.5. The factors I’m debating are options, cost and engine longevity.

That's just it - no 93 here, just CA91. I have E85 locally, but it's hard to know where to find it elsewhere. If I had access to 93, it'd be a much easier decision.

Oh dang, yea that is rough. I’m not sure what your options would be then especially if you have to fill up more than once a week.

The Lap3 1.5 tunes are running low 11's. Its pretty impressive. I am hitting the track finally on Saturday. hoping for that 10.9 :)

Wait - thought that was with the 2.5 tunes. Wow - how are the 1.5 tunes getting that low? Making it harder and harder to resist haha

A few guys with 1.5 tune are running low 11's now.

First impression LAP3 ECU, 2.5

Drive for 30 minutes for some adaption first:
  • Very smooth running and shifts, like stock
  • Feels that ignition is higher, better response
  • Torque seems to come on faster without spikes
  • Tried manual first, higher rpm but gently, seems that rev stop is around 7 k rpm and higher revs dont seems so limited like with JB4. Probably ignition here again that is higher
  • Did 1 WOT in auto, feels stronger and log in JB4 looks that boost was around 23 at the most. No problem at all with HPFP, stayed at 10
  • From standing still it seems like faster buildup in boost/rev
  • So, unmanipulated seems very good and faster in asked figures
  • I did leave my Windbooster in "Sport" and it works like I want the pedal. It seems that power is more linear compared to JB4 that will be more crazy when it comes on
It was rainy today so tyres did spun even in 3rd and 4th gear. Will be very nice to do some Dragy soon and also go to Mustang Dyno

"I´ll be back..." so far very impressing!
What fuel you using?

Obviously I had JB4 before. I have recently moved to LAP3 ECU tune. My best jb4 run on map3 on E was a 12.56.
I installed the LAP3 Stage 1.5 ECU and went and did a dragy run. My test drive yielded great results. No issues or faults or stumbles.
Just stopped and launched and went. I turned a 12.13 on just reg 93 pump gas and nothing else. I have cut 0.5 in the 1/4 and gained almost 5mph in my trap speed.

Now I'm on LAP3 Stage2.5 ECU Tune.
10/22/21 run @ Capital Raceway. Fastest RWD street configuration stinger. On street tires on stock wheels and Pump gas. 11.48 @ 127.33
Thank you David Chung for the work and the ISG removal. I love that the most. The logs look very clean and stable. Couldn’t be more pleased with this tune.
If anyone is looking for the best ECU tune on the market make sure you get Lap3 ECU tune. You won’t be disappointed.

Glad I went with the CPI kit so far. Thanks for doing all this testing and also for the help on the CPI/JB4 setup. I'll probably be ordering a lap3 TCU pretty soon
I'm new what does CPI stand for?

CPI is 'charge pipe injection'. When people say that here usually referring to injecting ethanol.

Ethanol? Or methanol

Ethanol? Or methanol
That is why I said usually referring. Technically WMI (water methanol injection) is/can be a form of CPI too but when people say CPI on here that are referring to adding additional ethanol/gas mixture (E-40+) via an additional injector.

Great results man. Im a little curious about the isg, isnt there a button to turn it off on all Stingers? Or is it a preference thing to just permanently have it off? I ask only because I know you have to oay a little extra for that

So everyone in the states is ordering from lap3usa.com?

Correct me if I’m wrong but it seems like I could get some great gains adding CPI and LAP3 ECU and driving E30-ish consistently. Basically I’m trying to avoid shelling out for the LAP3 TCU too; also I’d be running this all with my JB4 too. Thoughts?

Yes, you can order from their website or just hit up David Chung on facebook. He will answer any questions you have.

Nothing wrong with running the stock TCU> Get the LAP3 ECU for now and maybe down the line get the TCU. TCU is good for .2 second.
