Used Stinger GT Market Info

I'm hoping to get a '22 used between Jan-April of next year. I was originally hoping to wait on the '23 model year to kick up some incentives and potentially buy new, but with the rumors going around I'm not sure. I've seen some used GT2's for 48-ish. Hopefully they're still around in 6 months!!

Sabs - I'm sure you know already, but the SRT392 isn't available with a manual. And it's one I was looking at compared to a Stinger, but I'm not a huge fan of RWD - test drove a scat pack and it was chirping tires in a very mild turn off a stop light. Can't imagine putting any of that power down on bumpy roads.

OTOH, might want to also keep in mind the Q50S/RS. They are neck-and-neck in terms of power/speed with or without a tune (well, ok, the Q50S needs a tune). And Infiniti also discounts heavily. And can be had RWD and AWD. In fact, if it wasn't for their narrow sports seats, I was *THIS* close to buying a 2017 Q50S AWD for around $27K. Add a tune (several good options available) and maybe a few bolt-ons, and you're faster than any Stinger. Not saying the Q50 is miles ahead of a Stinger, but definitely a close competitor, IMHO, and also seeing major deprecitation.
Digging from the archive.... Coming from someone that owns a Q50S now, I can say the Stinger is better in almost everyway. I've stated why I got rid of mine in other posts, not going to divulge again. I had a GT so the amenities were far and in between but I didn't get that car for the luxury; remember, it's a KIA. I would own another Stinger in a heartbeat though.

The Q50S needs a JB4 and 93 to compete with the GTs stock. I ran my Q50 at the track and it only did a 13.2 @108 with a 2.1 60 ft. Couldn't get any better because of the trans. My quickest in the Stinger was 12.4 @ 115 (tuned as well). The run with the Q50 was in the mid 90s and was brutal. On a nice autumn day, I'll be to able to get into the 12s. I'm AWD which adds some weight and Infiniti transmissions aren't very 21st century, also lacks launch control.

If are are looking for speed, go with the RS and get an Ecutek tune. Heard very good things about them. A JB4 will still yield impressive results but limits your ability to make much more hp over stock. Q50S push 9.5 lbs stock, RSs push 14 lbs. With the JB4, you can push about 7 lbs over stock on the S and 3 lbs on the RS.

Morale of the story; get a Stinger.

Yep. I’ve been watching. My wife finally got her telluride this month so I’m still targeting mid next year for a 19+ GT2 for about 35k by then. Thanks as usual sabs!!

I think that price is feasible, so long as the chip shortage for new cars improves. The 2019 model offers the best value on the used market, IMO. They sell for barely more than the 2018 but add the 360 camera, wireless charger, and heated rear seats. They seem to be a little less prone to some of the 1st model year issues as well.

Congrats on the Telluride! Those are hard to get a hold of right now.

I’ve been watching for over 2 years now and definitely agree with all of this. And thanks- ordered the Telly at MSRP back in April and it got converted to a 22 in June. So it’s been a long process and glad I also got it for MSRP because it’s crazy for that thing right now. SXP nightfall in gravity gray so yeah we checked all the boxes. It’s a fantastic ride!!

Here are market prices as of 10/15. GT2 prices declined a bit while GT and GT1 are slightly up.

I think there are a couple of reasons for this:
  • The price of the current entry-level new V6 model is higher. The GT1 is the lowest trim and offers fewer features than the older GT1 models.
  • GT2's outnumber GT's & GT1's combined by about 3 to 1 on the used market - availability is relatively low on GT's and GT1's.

Time for another price update as of 12/15/21.

Prices are up considerably across all trim levels as new & used car inventory continues to be limited. GT2's have climbed the most.

Prices are not far from where they were as barely-used vehicles about 3 years ago. Now, though, these cars have an average of around 30k miles on them.

That chart is insane… I’m still waiting. Thanks @Sabs for the update.

Buying my 2018 gt awd with 20k miles for $31k last September looks like insanely good deal now.

This sht is just insane; this is pretty much what I paid (after lease incentive) FOUR YEARS AGO, and mine was the first GT2 to hit the road in ntx.

Bad, very bad. It just means that to replace your Stinger you'll have to pay for the price increase. If inflation doesn't turn around right away, we are going to feel eaten alive.

I am wondering what people gonna say 5 years from now, buying new honda civic for $75k. Dont you just love corrupted beyond belief federal reserve?

People are talking about inflation, like it is some kind of weather event. It is man made phenomena. And the only way to stop it, will destroy our fake economy. But looking at the past couple of years, makes me belive, that we are heading to another "crisis that nobody could see coming" in near future.

The market is unbelievable! Who ever would have thought cars would appreciate. I wish I would have bought mine last year. Have been watching the market for almost a year. I was fortunate to get my 2018 GT2 AWD with only 14K miles on it from CarMax for $40K two months ago. I had to pull the trigger before they went up more. I am absolutely loving my Stinger! Worth every penny!

Cars are not appreciating!? They are getting insanely expensive which is not remotely the same thing.

I’ve sold 2 vehicles for about $7k more than I’ve paid for them in the last 8 months, this market is crazy.

Just because I hadn't yet, checked Vroom and Carvana pricing on my 2021 GT AWD with 13,000 miles = $37,500 offer from both. I was conservative on reporting my condition as good, since there's a tiny door ding and a couple rock chips on the hood (that have been touched up).

Paid $40,000-ish, sticker was $44,500-ish December 2020.

February update. Prices have come down a bit since December.

Keep in mind this time of year is slow for car sales. We could see prices rise and inventory decrease again once the warmer months come around.
