• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Utah Stingers

I was scared off of buying the Injen by some of the others on the forum. Stingergtandme had a nice YouTube video for installing the K&N, so that sold me. It sounds like they are all pretty equal on heat soak. I've been looking at snorkels, but it sounds like an after market intercooler will probably make the biggest difference.
Okay I am ordering the BMS intakes and Snorkels.

@ryno5514 - how does the muffler delete sound? Maybe a dumb question, but is it legal here in Utah?

@Knet182 - I noticed you only have the rear Eibach swaybar and not the front as well. Are you satisified with the handling?

So master muffler said it would be fine because the car does have "two sets of mufflers" but MBRP is on sell right now for $629 or something like that. Muffler delete was 270 so felt a little stupid its normally $1100 wish I would have just done that.

I think the delete sounds good, has some drone I think people call the sound but does not sound bad at all. @HaltHammerzeit has heard it and said it sounds good, not as good as his Borla tho.

You weren't asking me, but I can weigh in with another opinion. For a year and a half I had only the rear Eibach and was completely satisfied with the improvement. It was only after my driving got more aggressive that I really noticed the oversteer that the stiffer rear bar created: I started to wake up and pay attention to what some on here were saying about the front bar: how it improved steering consistency and feedback (and even reduced body roll, which I had not really noticed). So almost a year ago I got the front bar too, and found that addition an even more dramatic difference than the rear bar alone. Handling did not change, vis-a-vis how the car actually tracks through a fast curve. But what did change was the oversteer went away (unless I push hard enough to make the tires start to "sing", then oversteer is still there, but not as sudden or sharp), and steering feel, therefore, remains the same throughout the curve, which encourages a hard power-on approach: without oversteer, powering out of a turn feels much more predictable, at least to me. I have both front and rear on "soft" setting.

Eibach recommends soft for normal, variable driving conditions; "hard" is for track. The ride in the Stinger is already firm; I didn't want more! :D

I thought I‘d start with just the rear since I don’t get a chance to drive aggressively that often. I’ve got the front on my to do list. Ceramic coat probably next up.

@Knet182 - A couple more questions please. I noticed in your signature that you have the JB4 installed. What map are you running? How would you describe your experience with it?

@MerlintheMad - Thank you for your insights on the sway bars.

For the group - Did you do your own install on the sway bars or have a shop do it? Cost at the shop?

I had Jerry Seiner, South Jordan, install both. It was very reasonable.

They seem to be pretty chill with MODs, the guy I spoke to said he loves seeing what people do with them.

Yes, that was true when I got my Stinger back in March of '18 too: my sales guy said, "I look forward to seeing what you do to your car." :D

@MerlintheMad
How much did they charge you if you don't mind me asking? I asked the SLC Jerry Seiner that has helped me a ton in the past and they quoted me $660+ tax...

That has to include the price of the bars, am I right? Jerry Seiner South Jordan charged $127 to put on the rear bar, and $45 to put on the front bar.

I had the rear sway put in at the same time as my exhaust by Master Muffler. I think it was around $150 for labor on the bar. Front bar is supposed to be easier; might try to do it myself down the road.

Staying on Map 1 for now. Played around with Map 2 and didn’t get any error codes. I like it. I’m actually getting better gas mileage with it if I behave in comfort mode. Up to 30 mpg on a 15 minute freeway commute. Pre JB4, I never got above 27. (I know that’s not the point of getting the JB4, but it’s a nice side benefit.)

Rims and airbags?

I am waiting on my intakes to show up, might do rims for next summer. Keep stock for winters.
