What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

She finally has a sound to match! Got the SS MBRP installed about two weeks ago and externally sounds great with louder but not too much louder pur. However, different story inside. Disappointed that the exhaust has so much drone despite everyone’s glowing reviews. We’ll see how it goes…

exhaust tips is what you need. Maybe also some trunk liner

They all seem to drone when the engine lugs. high gear, low RPM, climbing hills, etc. Tips are the answer. Borla is probably the worst (what I have) but I added some tips and trunk liner and it's fine now.

The only thing I pulled was the coils and the plugs. The coils only required me to use a short 10mm on a wobbly extension. The plug under the plenum is the most difficult but not bad with universal joint on the swivel sparkplug socket. I didn't even separate the boot from the coil it was flexible enough to get the whole unit out. I did turn the coil 180 and pulled it from the front.
Good to know. Long way off of needing to do plugs, but will be useful info down the road.

I dont have driver assist but here is a shot of the mirror for what its it's worth. I will say that it actually did help today with inside temps.
I have been using these for 30 years on every car I've owned:

Heat Shields

And here in South Florida yes it does make a heat difference.

Tips made a huge difference for me. Took away all the reverb and 80-90% of the drone. Only problem has been getting the muffler centered in the hole for the tips. Never have gotten them right so I guess they rattle a little from time to time, I can't hear it. It was either that or take the exhaust off.

Second that. I mounted tips and the MBRP at the same time and there has been no drone. Yes, you can still tell the car has an aftermarket exhaust inside the cabin. But now most of the noise is outside the car. I am so happy with it.

I put a good amount of sound panels and dynamat which didnt help as much as I thought. Even wrapped the exhaust with the fiberglass rolls and didnt help. Replacing the tips sounds like the way to go then

Thanks for sharing! The reverb is what is killing me every time I drive to the point of getting a headache. If it does take away 80%-90% like you say then I won’t have to go back to stock exhaust. Ideally i wanted to keep the stock chrome bumper tips but sounds like they gotta go to make the extension work.

You can get stainless steel tips that look almost identical to the stock setup.

Wrapped my braces. Pretty happy with how it came out. Always could be better though

Installed the Akrapovic tips along with lap joint clamps on the MBRP. Cool aesthetic and really improved the sound quality inside

Busy day for the Stinger today! Installed new R1 Concept drilled and slotted rotors, Girodisk Magic front brake pads and Maxton side skirts (Courtesy of Metalmania82...Thank you), also had an oil change and had the zerk fittings on the Eibach sway bars greased. If anyone in the NW suburbs of Chicago needs any work done on their Stinger, I got the guy for you. He's reasonable and treats my car with absolute respect. Specializes in higher end performance cars but loves the Stinger as well. Komet Motorsports in St.Charles...ask for the owner Kurt:thumbup:IMG_0663.webp7058F81F-7FA2-468C-BB60-CF6CCF57525C.webp9E71C307-D046-4F31-A90A-7C77BCDE47D5.webp4C3C56F4-0010-4240-90B9-6F302F89B63B.webpView attachment 58750
