Kia Stinger Navigation Map Update

It won't let you downgrade. I went in to engineering mode and am trying a force downgrade. Running now, will keep you posted.

edit: It downgraded fine, everything works, except UVO won't register. Clicked normal update and it ran the update again, UVO still wont register. I dont want to upgrade back to the latest version yet, will probably try uvo support first. Might just be a matter of driving around and finding better cell service, but I doubt it.

Edit: called UVO, they did an "override" and my system registered instantly. Downgrade success! :)

Does the new updates work with 2019 or just 2020 or newer ?

Does that skeuomorphic tube amp screen replace the radio home screen, where there was the previous vertical list of stations?
It does. No more vertical preset stations on the left side. Now the presets run horizontal on the bottom.

Hope this update fix the occasional no volume problem.

Can you show a screenshot showing Sirius/XM. Thanks

(The Navigation Update page says that it can be done with a USB device. Has anyone tried USB?)

I botched this once already; had to delete whatever it was that got on my 'puter; because it kept saying that the latest version is already installed (oh, really). Tried again: and the download is going into a folder in Windows (C): / Users / Owner / Downloads / NaU. I tried to download directly to the SD card I want to use, which is 60 GB; and the stupid thing said I couldn't because FAT32 won't go onto an SD card that big: it has to be under 32 GB (say, waaaat? that's the first time I've ever been refused because I have TOO MUCH storage space on a portable device, WTH?) So, I selected my 'puter hard drive as the location (the above folder path) and okay, it's downloading, but it says it'll take longer than 30 minutes. Heh! I have no idea what the hell I am doing.

I'm assuming that when it downloads, I'm supposed to copy that "2018_Stinger_USA" folder and paste it on the SD card. Dollars to donuts, I'll get the same damned refusal message I described above.

FAT32 has a limited SD size supported up to maximum of 32 GB.

I'm sure you know what you're talking about. It's Greek to me. I just do what the screen prompts tell me. (download to my 'puter is now 25%; somehow I feel that I've taken a long detour that wasn't how this is done.......)

Why is the NAV update using FAT32 anyway? That's ANCIENT; a brand new SanDisk (64 GB) won't even work if FAT32 is required; how do you even find a FAT32 compatible SD card??

After 3+ years, did they finally fix the lack of scrolling of longer song names on the screen in the last image? On that screen, that shows nothing but the media info, you can't see the full title of anything but a short song name. On the "home" screen (half map, half media info), with much less space, the name scrolls so you can see it properly. However, both of them are ridiculously bad designs in terms of showing relevant media info.

Not shown in any pic, but after 3+ years did they fix the equally ridiculous issue that songs from a USB stick sort alphabetically instead of by song number (that is embedded into the file name) if you want to browse by artist or album? Only "folders" browsing results in an album playing properly. In the entire history of music, has anyone wanted to play an album alphabetically? There is a reason downloaded songs have song numbers in the file names AND in the metadata of the file itself...all so your car infotainment system can override it! This actually takes more work to illogically override than to just allow the song numbers in the file name to sort alphabetically and function as they do everywhere else they are utilized.

You bring up the one reason why I haven't updated till now. I'm assuming that the alphabetical crap is fixed; why would I assume that? I have no idea. Anyway, I'm keeping my original KIA SD card untouched as a fallback option. (I'm still wondering how this update download is going to go: apparently the SanDisk 64 GB SD card is not going to work out; and a USB stick - even though they said yes it is an option - isn't going to work either, that's my guess: which means I'll have to find a FAT32, 32 GB SD card somewhere.) (download up to 47%, this is ridiculous........)

You can use a tool if you google format 64 gb SD card to fat32 however its up to you if you want to fiddle with that vs spending a few dollars for a 32gb card. Another note. the way the updater tool will copy the files to the SD card for you if you have the SD card In the computer when you start the download or maybe after as well if you select the card as the destination. It did for me, my steps were put my factory SD card in my computer, start the updater tool, it saw the SD card and I selected it as the destination, it then downloaded to my computers download nau folder then it copied the necessary files to the SD card all without me hitting another button until it was done and ready for me to put the SD card in the car.

has anyone actually gone back to an older version using an older SD Card? I was under the impression it was a one-way street and inserting the old SD Card would give an error about an invalid version.

Yeah, I got to the point where I selected the SD card as the destination, and it went through the whole progress bar thingy, only to end up telling me that the selected destination is not FAT32 compatible therefore verboten. I then had the download on my machine, according to the message each time I clicked on the .exe file; so, I deleted everything to do with the download and started over: and currently I'm up 62% downloaded to my NaU folder (why I was told that it was already on my machine, I have no idea, since there wasn't remotely enough time to download even 10% of it at this rate).

I'm not going back once I make the leap. Getting to the point where I can make the leap "forward" is the problematic part just now. But in case none of this works out, i.e. I can't seem to get the update to take, I'll have the old SD card and version 12.5 to fall back on.

Just use you original KIA sd card which is 32Gb for the new update. I don’t think you can downgraded to the original version. There is no reason to keep the original card.
