Kia Stinger Navigation Map Update

So, I'm upgrading my base gt. Bought the 8" screen and nav head unit out of a gt2. It came with an sd card. Can I still update the nav when updates come out?
Were you successful on upgrading the screen? I'm wondering how much work it'd be to upgrade to a 2022 larger screen (without comparing exactly if the trim is different yet).

Won't be doing it until it gets warmer round here. This swap has been done before, I'm certainly not the 1st person to do it. I don't think anyone knows yet about the new screen, as the car is barely even out yet. For sure the trim piece would be different, as going from the 7" to 8" has a different trim piece, we'll have to wait and see about everything else though.

New update available as of today, April 12, 2021.

Pretty cool feature list including the application of the new GUI theme from the Gen5W (Facelift Stinger, K5, Soul and other new model Kia's):

Do you know if this affects the center screen on the dashboard also? I hate what they did with the center screen on the 2022 Stingers. It looks like a step back for me.

No impact to the instrument cluster screen. And yeah, I agree, not a fan of the new one.

Thanks for posting the availability. Went out and downloaded it yesterday. Installed it this morning with no problems, took about 20 minutes. A few changes in appearance that look okay to me. Didn't see any big bad things that would make one hesitate to update.

yes , it has that purple icon look that the gen 5w and gen 6 already had on the newer models.. personally i like it.. but i can see it's not for everyone.

There's some screenshots on the posted link... Looks very... Neon if that's how the update looks.
Yeah that's how the new 2022 Stinger looks. I'm not a huge fan of the purple/neon theme but it's always good to have the latest firmware installed.

I updated, I regret it. I didn't lose any save data (NAV/stations) but you lose the ability to always dark mode, which is a big minus for me.

I downloaded the update this morning (takes over 30 mins) and installed it in my car today. Will play around with it more next time I drive my car.

Just installed mine. It's fine for me, the purple really isn't my thing but I use CarPlay 98% of the time so no biggie.

Are you talking about Dark mode for Carplay? I don't use dark mode so didn't notice a change there.

Dark mode for AA and the Kia map. I can "fix" AA with root, but the stock NAV I can't. Guess I'll figure out how to downgrade now.

Most updates to date have had these inexplicable reversals of previously added functions/features and general slow and somewhat random nature of updates that reflects a lack of UI expertise. Plus maps that are always significantly out-of-date just as a bonus.

Just a suggestion. I never update on the original 32 GB card. I always do the new version on another card. This way if I don't like the new update I just stick the old card back in.
I've been alternating them so that I have a backup.
