MY21 Aussie Release Date

Neither are GT's and I just spoke to Paul Wakeling and they don't have any for sale only a demo they won't sell.

Was hard to tell as I only saw them from a distance.

Amazed you found one in stock....was that from a sydney dealer? All the ones I’ve spoken to are indicating 4-9 mths wait. Did you have to pay RRP?

This was in Wollongong - Gateway Kia. Paid like 2k under RRP.

They have a white demo MY21 as well with about 3k KMs on it as well

What do you think would be the lowest that they’d accept on that demo for a Cash sale? Considering a brand spanker custom order can be had for $65K as you noted.

I’m not familiar with different Kia dealerships‘ test drive policies and/or staff usage. Are ‘spirited‘ test drives allowed with launch control enabled, TC off etc? Do you think the staffer who uses it as their DD is inclined to give it some beans? I’m assuming tyre wear would be a good indicator? Any other bits and bobs to observe to get a feel for how its been driven with 3K on the clock?

I would start at 60k and work up from there. I reckon 62k would be in the ballpark. Worth a try anyway.

I think it was used by the dealer principal as a daily driver for a month or so. I didn't have a good look at it so not sure if it is in A1 condition or not

Sadly there was no mention by that new CarAdvice reviewer about what the new bimodal exhaust sounds like, nor any comparison (e.g., how loud the new exhaust is) to the dealer-fit bimodal available on the pre-facelift cars.

the bimodule exhaust is really quiet. to me personally, its not much louder than stock

I’m exactly in the same situation as you lol. Waiting 6 months after signing a contract and all for a car seems rediculous. I was considering throwing the towel and asking for my deposit back, but if I’ve already waited 4 months I might as well wait the remaining 2. Unless another delay... then I don’t think I can handle it no more.
I reckon we should be compensated in some way.

Same here. After ringing around and finding that no dealers within 3 hour drive had any in stock, i ordered mine last week. Dealer said they might be able to ring around and obtain from other dealers. (Good luck with that). Then they rang me the next day and said,”Good news, yours is on the production line..... no eta at this stage.” I felt like saying,”Just ring me when it gets here”.

Yep, don’t trust the “we might be able to grab from another dealer” thing. My contract even says the car delivery date eta February.... so seems a bit unfair they did not be more transparent from the start.

Did you have to pay a deposit as well?

I think the dealers use very rubbery terms in describing where your order/car is (may be they just don't know either), if the dealer can quote you a six digit KIA order number you at least know it's in KIAs system, the order you signed was just with the dealer remember.

Originally ordered with dealer early December, ETA end of February, updated verbally to March/April.

I have see late Dec/early Jan ordered cars already delivered in Feb, so who knows.

I have the KIA order number and my latest update says it's 'In Build' and I have a VIN now. So it's got to be getting closer now. I hope.

This is only because i lucked out by calling KIA customer support and they managed to find me a car which was on order for a dealer in Victoria (Im in NSW) but it wasn't sold. So they switched my order with that Vehicle.

Otherwise my dealer told me i would have been waiting till July!!

I’d say you were very lucky. I rang dealers, all over my area with no luck. None had any in stock apart from demos which they didn’t want to sell and I didn’t want to buy.

Im not feeling particularly lucky, jealous is perhaps more appropriate given how ive seen people in this forum order at the same time or shortly after me having received their cars months ago

Also i did order within the first one or two weeks of being able to officially order the MY21. I thought i got in early. What i didn't know was there was a backlog of MY20 cars on order that still needed to be fulfilled - they presumably got an MY21 in leui of their ordered MY20's

Im pissed with my dealer for not being open and honest about delays and the order limits that they have. They just wanted the sale.

Hey, i have got my 6 digit order number from my dealer. Is it just for me to prove they have ordered, or is there a website that Kia has to track the progress?

There's no way to check.

Perhaps KIA customer support might be able to give you an ETA if you provide that number.

With all these 2022 models popping up overseas with the new logo, surely our 2021 models in production now will have these updated logos too. Would make the rebadging process a non-issue.

Hope so. I want the new logo too. Probably will be a rebadge for me as i hooe to pick my car on Monday or Tuesday. Haven't seen anywhere to buy them yet

You might be right, except the NA MY21 is not the same as the MY21 in Australia, MY21 in Australia is the facelift mode, NA had to wait for MY22.

Yes I know that we are getting the facelift in NA now as MY22 and you got if few month earlier as MY21. Kia plan to deploy the logo by MY change to the entire lineup. The question for you is when MY22 will be released so that you get the new badging.
