• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

MY21 Aussie Release Date

I have a friend who works at a Kia dealer, he commented the new bi-modal exhaust in the MY21 is no where near as loud as the optional bi-modal which were fitted to MY20 and previous.
I'm not really a fan of either exhausts, especially the video that was posted of a Stinger idling. Sounds like a fart. I would like to know what it sounds like driving or from a stand-still accelerating if one of the boys want to post a video of their MY21?

Even if the MY21 didn't come with a bi-modal as standard, I wouldn't of optioned it anyway.

Is the bi-modal still an 'option' with MY21, or not any more as it comes with a bi-modal as standard?

Very hard to gauge from audio recorded on phones.

I am keen to hear in real life too. One day my stinger might actually be delivered to the dealer

When is yours meant to be delivered?

Dealer is saying April which I am calling bullshit for a car i ordered in November.

Have a call in with KIA Australia at the moment.to have them chase up. Surely the dealers have some visibility as to when a car is due.

Ceramic Grey w/ Red Leather like half you other farkers lol

I'd say that's the case everywhere. I emailed my local Kia dealer at the end of November, they said it'd be a 4 month wait delivering late March/early April. The next dealer closest to me (~150km) already had a few on order arriving mid Feb and they had just one Micro Blue coming so I snagged it up

Ceramic Grey looks like concrete to me :p I'll be very happy with my Micro Blue :)

When I ordered in November was told expect Feb/March. Spoke to the dealer today and they told me it was on the ship and to expect delivery early to mid January.
Ceramic Grey with red leather.

Exactly! Doesn't seem right

I haven't heard anything "fart"-like at all (yet). It is pretty quiet unless you are accelerating.

Once I get out of the break-in period and can go WOT, I will post a vid.

Ordered mine early December, delivery late February (maybe sooner the dealer said) sighting COVID as the disruption.

You would think it would be in the dealer's interest to deliver it as quick as possible, unless of course he sells yours out from under you for a quick delivery time for another sale.

I had this happen a few years ago, they said I'd have to wait another month, my response was "Thanks, I'll have my deposit back please", guess what, it was there in two days. I'll do it again, and walk, I don't let these guys feed on my enthusiasm, I feed on theirs.

Yes I’ve been told that by one of the Kia sales guys.

Enjoy washing it, it shows the dust/dirt pretty well. That being said it’s a great colour and I don’t regret getting it.

Nah it's a bit of a myth really with probably the exception of the tires.. they will definitely bed in after a thousand odd kms
Does the manual not still recommend it for the first 1km (I dont have an English manual...)?

Probably still does, myth or not I would try to follow it as much as possible not to go too much up in the RPM range and not consistent on the same RPM either and so an early oil change to remove the metal.

brakes are another thing that is good to prep (bedding) as well by doing 3 time 45 mph to 0 and then 3 times 60 mph to almost 0 to heat them up, transfer some pad material on the rotor and make sure pads and rotor contact is even etc. All this braking somewhat hard but not hard enough for ABS to trigger. Doing this once in a while is good as well.

There is a suggestion that I have read that says you should not use launch control in the first 1000klms.

I find this very hard to achieve.. like am I meant to monitor my RPM for 1000kms? I use cruise control basically everywhere

Yes. Driving in sport mode and manually shifting is probably the only way to do it. You would want to avoid cruise control.

I don't really know how necessary the break-in is, but I plan to own this car for at least 10 years, so I'm doing it just in case it has any positive effect.

Can someone answer a few questions for me please?

  • What's the lowest speed that you can reactivate cruise control?
  • Is there a speed threshold for the lane keeping features?
  • When you choose 'Active' over 'Standard' for lane keeping, around town does it always try and keep you in the middle of the lane or revert to the normal just pinging you between lanes etc. Or when you go to a higher speed does it change to active?
  • Is active LKA different to LFA?
Just trying to gauge what does what when, if I had an owners manual at my use then I'd refer to that :p

Very true, I intend on owning it for as long as I can too.
