Interesting, the vents are not directly open to the engine like the Seibon TS. Bet that stops the rain nicely

One more. Yes vents inside of vents. Out of Korea, courtesy of Xot1

Forged carbon fiber looks like someone didnt know what they were doing. I dont get it at all. Looks like shit. As for the regular carbon fiber hood, I like it.

Those Ark hoods are not my cup of tea

I am a big fan of the single large vent and the look that it has. Lot better than the new one. If fitment issues were not reported I would have probably got this over the seibon TS. oh and the price matters too. no way I'm dropping 2k for a hood. this was supposed to be a budget rebuild....

Any carbon fiber experts know the difference between a hood that is clear coated like the Seibon one and one with UV protection in the resin and polished to shine looking like clear coat like SBM does with their hoods. Also what would be the pro's and con's of each, if anyone knows.

Great question, and on a clear coated hood would you want to add PPF to protect it or are they still less chip prone than painted?

Good additional questions. I did find some info on clear coated vs UV resin/CF polished.

"Over time oxidation destroys the clear coat on the carbon making it look dull, hazy, and chalky. At that point no amount of wax or polish is going to bring back the gloss or correct the problem. The only real way to correct the problem is to remove the oxidation and contaminants, or in some cases the clear coat entirely. This gets the part back to the base gel/resin coat or to the carbon weave itself so that a fresh clear coat can be applied. This is the recommended process from Seibon Carbon and Meguiar's"

According to SBM if their hoods start to dull and fade due to the sun all you have to do is buff and polish and it will restore the shine.

So i guess one needs to be re-clear coated while the other you just need to buff and polish to revive or at least that's my understanding.

Seibon factory style carbon fiber hood with hood pins installed.

What kind of pins? Do the attach to the lower strut bolt holes?

They are a quicklatch QL38 and i attached it through the rad bracing.20200505_125103.webp

I noticed a bit of a flutter at 70+ mph before the hood pins were installed. I am just paranoid about the latch coming loose and damaging the car or causing an accident.
