Navigation Update V14 due out April 20, 2020

Thanks for that info. Definitely interested now. I have several 16 GB-sized cards lying around, but will have to hunt for a 32-GB version.. I think I had one (in micro SD) once upon a time. Should be ok with an adapter, I would think..
Why find another card? Simply download the update and write to your existing SD card, which I've done for the last two updates. It take a bit of time to do, but it's no cost and the same result. I don't even think you can use a third party card, as it won't have the necessary coding to your VIN.

I have no problem waiting for another couple of weeks for the free download vs. paying 30 CAD to have them ship me a new card. The car is basically a garage ornament right now, other than a trip to the grocery store every week or so ... :p

It took around 20 minutes, not long at all.

It works on any sd card. I bought a sandisk and installed it on that and kept the OEM card as a backup just in case. This time around though, I'll just write over the current card.

Just in case something goes wrong.. Plus, it seems that a faster card (faster reads) might actually result in snappier nav performace (I almost never use android auto)..

I use AA quite a bit, but for Waze.

I tried using the nav but it never understood anything or anywhere I wanted to go and only times I got it to work was to literally input the physical address which just made it very annoying and frustrating to use. I did really enjoy and miss the nav directions built into the HUD and hope they include AA directions in the HUD in a near future update.

Yeah, the voice search is pretty useless. I'm coming from a car that had NOTHING (2005 Legacy GT - we had a standalone GPS), but I added a bluetooth mic/speaker so I could tell google to "find x" with my phone (Galaxy S6 and S7) and half the time it worked and would start voice directions, and the other half the time, for some reason, I'd have to hit "start" on the phone (which is not really allowed while driving), so it was a pain.

Just being able to see traffic where I currently am is a huge upgrade on what I had before. Stopping for 30 seconds to enter an address is still not that bad for me. Either I know where I'm going, or I *KNOW* I don't know where I'm going.. :-)

I know how it feels. I came from a 2009 Lancer with a 6 disc cd player and used my phone on a mount so I do appreciate being able to see the map too. I couldn't be bothered to get a GPS lol

Just curious if anyone knows, would a dealer be able to upgrade the version without doing the download process at home? Was recently at the dealer last week and asked if they saw this update available and the service guy only said nothing flagged.

it is a relatively painless upgrade. you can do it while you drive if you don't driving in silence while the system reboots a couple of times. even if you are computer iliterate, just get the card shipped to you and pop it in. if it doesn't prompt for an update, go down through the menus and push the upgrade button the rest is automatic. just keep the car on until it's done and you see the home screen as normal.

Anybody know if a 64GB card would work or does it have to be 32GB? I have a few of those laying around, but no 32GB.

Has anyone done benchmarks? I'm tempted to sit down with some SD cards and a stop watch and see... It would be nicer if it booted up a little faster.

Before you do something like that, try booting up and using the system without the card inserted at all. I wouldn’t be surprised if the card wasn’t used at all after the installation, which presumably takes so long because all the data is being copied into the internal disk.

New GPS 5-6-20.webp

My previous version was early 2019, so this update applied to everything. The map version does not show in this photo, it is
NAM.13.41.42.660.162.5

Only 1 version of the voice search (ONLINE search in Canada was broken)
Were you using that broken version?

Version 13.0 = (NAM.12.41.51) (in Canada),(this version BROKE the online local search)
Version 13.5 = (NAM.12.47.44.xxx) - I am using this version today. - online voice search works perfectly. (CANADA)
Version 14.0 = (NAM.13.41.42.xxx) - available for purchase + shipping. (you can not download this version yet)

Boot up time is not affected by the speed of the SD card.

You can test this by removing your card - and use everything but the navigation - same speeds

Without knowing whether the system supports the SDXC format I’d be hesitant to purchase a card larger than 32GB (I exchanged mine). That being said, if you have one lying around please test it and let us know.

Yeah I have a 64GB SDXC so I’ll test both scenarios. lol
