• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

What did you do to your Stinger in Australia today?

Hey guys,
Didn’t want to start a new thread. Has anyone here got their car lowered? Got quoted for $900 to have springs supplied and installed. That’s $300 cheaper then pedders quoted. That’s not my concern. my concern is how practical it will be once lowered. They sit nice standard but I’d love to see it sitting just that little bit lowered. The common sense in me says don’t because I’ll have nothing but dramas with speed bumps and driveways etc.
anyone got any first hand experience they would like to share?
@Ozstung can tell you all about cattle grids :D

Yes I’m predominantly in Comfort (default at start up) & this thing gives you the sharpness of Sport while still in Comfort.
I have mine set on U3/4. What’s yours set on? I’m scared what U9 would feel like on the stinger.

AC (Automatic Control) when reading up on it was the most preferred setting & I’m really happy with this.
It adjusts to your actual driving situation without being “angry” all the time.

Dunno yet gotta speak to him.
Make sure you check & do your homework, eg: Eibach Springs suit AWD Stingers, H&R Springs make AWD & RWD versions & this brand for RWD would be my preference.

Not just drama, DEATH. A year and a half ago, I high-centered on a raised ridge down the center of the PCH in Torrance, in deep evening, as I followed an SUV around a semi going slow. The impact only tore out my undercarriage panels, thank heaven (Providence). Had I been lowered even ONE INCH, my Stinger would have been destroyed. You never know, because the "bear" that gets you is unseen until it's too late.

$900 for springs and installation is what i paid all up a couple of years back. I like the lowered look and it also helped with the rear "wiggle" to a degree.

Only thing to date ive scrapped but that was because of severe ruts and pot holes either side of some of the grids. Ended up hiring a 4wheel drive to continue the holiday.

Due to the 360 degree cameras theres really no excuse for me hitting anything. Road kill is the only fear i have.

Do you remember what brand springs were used? How do you go with driveways and speed bumps etc

FYI i have the Eibach springs, you'll notice the quality immediately.

Just got my Eiback swaybars fitted (not springs) ... amazing difference with just those. Well worth it!

You won’t need springs unless you want it lowered.
But the Eibach Swaybars certainly do improve the handling characteristics to no end.

Agreed!
After driving a bit more today... I would consider this a massive improvement and I only drive "spiritedly" occasionally. The general stability of the vehicle is almost like driving a different car. The only caveat is that is ever so slightly more "stiff" in general driving. The necessity to use sport mode to harden the ride (dampers) is pretty much not needed for me now. Loving it.
And yeah I'm not interested in lowering.
Cheers.

Did you set the swaybars on softest setting, this is how mine is.
From my experience I would say it firmed it up, but with my driving style during spirited driving I could still feel a little additional roll, so I had Whiteline Heavy Duty Endlinks fitted & now the cornering & ride of this car is perfect for me.

how much did that set you back? It sounds like they make an improvement but I kinda like how loose it feels when you drive hard, makes it fun!
Springs for me are mainly aesthetic over performance.

Don't get me wrong, the willing oversteer settings remains as "loose" as you care to push it. Those don't change. The rear particularly is just not sloppy anymore. The front tighter.
From recall both sways cost about $500-600, fitting might have added $200-300 to my mechanic's bill? I did not ask how much, just told him to put em in, make it right.

First impressions are exactly what has been said before. Immediately noticed the slightly firmer ride. Much more planted on the ground and less roll in the rear under acceleration.
The looks are what has impressed me most. Only a suttle change of around 15-20mm lower but it’s enough to make it look low without that gangsta low look some end up with.

Nice, for me the stock springs were to soft and especially noticeable on the rear end. It now reminds me of a comfortable controlled luxury car. So much less dip.

What brand ones did they end up using? It's a bit sketchy if they don't wanna tell you, but I do agree that the springs work well for making it look classy, the stock height is just aesthetically not appealing at all. Every time I see a completely stock Stinger nowadays I just think how much better the car looks lowered and on 20" wheels.

Couldn’t agree more. It’s growing on me even after two days of driving. Feel so much more confident behind the wheel as it just sits there ready to go at any second. No roll or dip as you said.
