• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

What did you do to your Stinger in Australia today?

Shitop that at once!

Got this repaired today. Luckily I was flicking through the different settings while driving to the shops and noticed the rear right tyre was reading lower than the others on the TPMS. Not massively low but enough to notice and force me into a servo to put some air in it. Thankfully I caught it before the local Bridgestone place had closed. Also lucky it was far enough away from the side wall to allow them to plug it rather than have to replace the tyre. $30 is a lot better than a few hundred dollars.

Try 450. I copped a spike same as yours a while back except mine was too close to the sidewall to safely repair. Rang around all the majors, Bob Jane, Beaurepaires, Jax etc. None had Conti’s in our size in stock and were quoting me a week or better to get one in. Finally got one from Kmart Tyre and Auto (now MyCar) but it still took 3 days to arrive and cost 450. So you’re a lucky man. Looks like there’s still plenty of life left in that tyre too. It’s annoying AF to have to ditch a perfectly good tyre and spend all that money just because of a bloody screw that costs a fraction of a cent.

Which is why, as a bicyclist, when I see a screw or any other sharp object, I stop and pitch it down the nearest storm drain. Spared somebody! Once on a walk, I came across an entire box of screws that had no doubt fallen off of somebody's truck bed and scattered all over the shoulder and started into the outside lane; by the time I had gathered them up I had a "hat full of screws".

Yesterday, I did the car version of that. On my way back from my walk, I passed a 3/4" iron pipe a good 40" long lying in the passing lane. So, I did a "U" turn and went back and put it in my hatch and then into the recycling bin at home. I could just see that thing flipping up and punching through the bottom of somebody's car in the dark; and it freakishly could do that, because it had a bend in it: so, run over it with the front tire, flip up, punch through who knows what.:P

Agree mate, not looking forward to having to replace them. I copped a puncture in a rear tyre on my Commodore about 2 months before I traded it for the Stinger. Too close to the side wall, had to be replaced but due to age of tyres and the fact that the spare was the original factory tyre (15yrs old) I had to get 2 new ones. Not cheap as I was running Potenza’s on it. Hadn’t decided to buy the Stinger at that point but was already looking around. Only thing I don’t like about the Stinger is the space saver spare due to the staggered 19’s. I was worried yesterday they’d tell me I needed a new one which would’ve meant 2 new ones. They’ve got about 30,000km on them now. If I get to 50-60k I’ll be happy

Mate, if you get 50-60k out of the Continentals I’ll take my hat off to you, most are lucky to get 30k out of them so your moving into uncharted territory...

That’s interesting, I’m due for my 30k service Monday morning, I’ll have just over it by the time I get there. The guy at Bridgestone told me there’s still a bit of life left in the current tyres. I told him I wasn’t sure if I should go the Continentals again or the Michelin Pilot Sport same as Kia, or even just go back to Bridgestone Potenza. Probably will come down to balance between cost and performance in the end. The guy told me he had to recommend the Potenza because he worked there but said he also liked the Michelins even though they didn’t stock them. I’ve found him to be pretty good over the years looking after my Commodore so who knows.

I’m running Falken FK510’s, they are a great performance tyre, you can go one size wider with Falkens with no issue with fitment on your OE wheels ie:
Front 235/40/19 & Rear 265/35/19, one of the members here that lives in the Newcastle area upgraded to these same sizes from Tyrepower for about $1100 from memory & saved $500 compared to another set of Continentals or Michelin’s, worth considering.

It is a war zone out there for car tyres. Had many punctures in the past, thankfully none in the Stinger as yet. (Touch wood.)

first month of ownership it was great long screw , how the tyre didn't flatten ill never know. I just happened to see it while washing the car, what was odd is the screw was only half way in . I tried pulling it out but to hard. Got it plugged all fine since.

Only halfway!? HOW is that possible not to notice driving? Imagine the abuse on the surrounding rubber each time you roll over that? You must have seen it almost immediately after running over it. Lucky!

When I hit a pothole and had to replace the tyre early Jan this year, I found that Costco was the best and cheapest source of Michelin tyres. Ordered and fitted PS4 for $309, had to wait for about 10 days as they did not have them in stock.

I was washing the car at a carwash place where you wash your own car. I looked at the front right tyre whilst using the water cannon jet thing and thats when i see this long screw half way in . I showed the attendant and complained.

The place is always dirty and unkempt.

Good reason never to go back I think.

Had my 30,000km service this morning. Front tyres have 5mm left, rears have 4mm should be good to at least the 40,000km I would think.
