Does anyone have any information on how strict Kia is with after market exhausts concerning their warranty. In other words would any after market exhaust be fine or would some void the warranty?

The only warranty it can void is the exhaust that you took off. The only way any warranty can be voided on a vehicle from aftermarket parts is if the part directly caused the malfunction or damage to another component. They'll try to say that it will void your warranty on something else but it won't. for instance if your muffler came off and hit the spring underneath your car causing it damage that would be a direct cause from your aftermarket exhaust system. But outside of that putting on an exhaust system cannot damage the motor, transmission, electrical etc... there was another guy on here that had an ECU malfunction and they said his intake system caused it which is complete horseshit and it's a direct lie and they should be held accountable for even saying this. The Magnuson Morrison actact covers us aftermarket people on warranty issues they even have lawyers that will work on your behalf to resolve the issue with the dealerships.

The posted an update on FB the other day.
Tork Motorsports

I wonder what happened with the fuel system upgrades he was working on back in the day? I'd love to get those boost numbers without meth injection.

He doesnt seem to be talking about fuel system upgrades, only WMI.

I believe he said that nobody wanted to make any fuel pumps for such a small market so we were stuck.
Thought I saw that on FB

So i'm looking to get an exhaust finally. I got my employee referral bonus today of $2500 which i'm stoked for. I am on the fence of MBRP and Borla. It's so hard to pick something based on a the audio on a bunch of youtube videos. If you guys are able to and maybe have experience with both MBRP and Borla, what would you say the volume levels are on a 0-10 scale. Lets say stock would be a 3/10. MBRP maybe a 5 or 6 and Borla maybe an 8? I have no clue. I don't mind a little drone as I usually enjoy my music levels louder and I wouldn't mind spending a Saturday putting in some sound deadening material in spare tire area. I get tons of people looking at the car when they see it. I would like to have them feel the same way when they hear it also. Just not to the point of being OVERLY obnoxious.

So if the Borla is loud, does it sound like a bad loud or just it has good tone just a loud volume.

How much do tips make a difference to the tone of the exhaust if any?

Thanks for your time!

Congratulations for the bonus!
On your scale stock would be 1/10.

I don’t have either exhaust yet, but I heard the Borla drones much more than the MBRP.

If you connect the tips to the exhaust it reduces some drone apparently.

My exhaust isn't MBRP or BORLA but

Stock 1/10

without tips
Aftermarket outside 7/10
Aftermarket inside 6/10

with tips
Aftermarket outside 8/10
Aftermarket inside 4/10

Very subjective

I heard Borla with tips and materials in trunk have almost no drone. That's why it would be my choice. Heck my car isn't even here yet, let alone to the point where I can install an exhaust and yet here I am....

Are you really prepared for drone and reverb? If so fine. I came from a WRX with a Canon exhaust and it was loud. It didn't hold a candle to the drone on my Ark grip exhaust.

Extensive sound deadening and exhaust modifications finally dampened the sound. The whole back of the Stingers hatch amplifies the drone so beware. I know the original Borla exhaust had reported bad drone, I'm not sure of this latest incarnation. Some say little drone.

It's somewhat small at the moment, the number of aftermarket exhausts for the 3.3. It'd be nice to have a list, maintained. This is probably more of a US thing or so, because in Switzerland we're regulated to death with the legal options.

Atm I only know of:

- SEMA Borla ... with no idea if this going official?
- SEMA AMG Exhaust. A gag?
- Bastuck. Seems not to have that much roar.
- "Updated thing from Kia". Apparently there's a "sport" exhaust or so mething now. What I saw doesn't sound like much and is hideously expensive.
- JUN B.L. Korean thing I think, where I have no idea if this makes it to Europe myself.

My favorite is the Borla .. that thing roars. But it would have to have a "silent" option or simply behave in normal driving if you don't hit the pedal much. Nothing gets on my nerves more, than a sport/performance exhaust, that constantly drones and annoys on long voyages.

Hei Voon,
I went through dozens of videos to compare exhausts and finally decided to go for the Bastuck with the flap.

The other main candidates were:
- Borla S of course even though the noise doesn't really seem to change much. Not sure it comes from the videos but a lot of them sounded very disappointing
- Bastuck as it's ECE approved for us Europeans and I can control the flap manually. It is expensive (2.5K EUR) though
- JunBL
- Stillen
- Fi EXHAUST (South Korea) - very expensive
- the Sport option is only available in a few countries
...

tried to post links but as a new member I can t yet... :(
