Burger Tuning JB4 for Kia Stinger!

And? Does it still give you the same problem? On a similar note, does it still misfire with the JB4 completely unplugged?

Terry solved my JB4 issue. Great products & service.

What was the issue?

Brown out reset too low on his system. Around 200 systems went out at 4.6v instead of 2.1v. Usually not an issue but if you also have a noisy electrical system, can cause problems, as we've found.

Just thought i'd share about a warranty issue i had with with my JB4. The clip/latch that locks in the connector to the intake manifold and prevents it from sliding out broke when I went to unplug the connector. I simply pressed the back part to lift up the latch and the whole piece snapped off. It's only the second time i've removed it and now the connector is at risk of falling out. I know that it won't easily come out but pulling on it lightly does cause it to become unseated. I can't risk that happening while my wife is driving the car so i've secured it with velcro straps for now.

I emailed burger tuning and they told me that if i wanted it fixed they would have to charge me for it. Shouldn't that be covered under warranty? So because there's a flaw in the plastics the customer has to pay shipping and the labor to fix it... I won't be doing that so i guess i'll have to live with it. Maybe it's just me but i find that completely unprofessional.

Just put a tie wrap on it. Clips are more of a wear and tear issue to me as being broken is not critical to its function.

Not in the loop on your situation but generally a broken clip would be the responsibility of the owner to pay for the repair, not that it's very expensive. Maybe $20 labor. We test them before shipment and the clips don't break themselves.

A zip tie works just as well to secure the connector and usually no clip is needed anyway, simple friction from the contacts and oring hold the sensors in.

Well in this case the clip most likely broke as it was cold ish outside, there's no way i could have done anything different not to break it. The plastic used for the jb4 connectors is not as good as oem, they haven't broken yet. I respectfully disagree that it's my fault it broke...

I'd send you a new connector on the house but it requires a special tool to swap it. If at some point you feel like sending the JB4 in and paying for return shipping we'll swap the connector for you, not really a big deal.

ok, thanks Terry, i appreciate it. if i did send it in would you be able to add the new EWG connectors to it? that i would gladly pay the labor for if im getting some new functionality out of it. From what i understand reading your many posts here, EWG control is the only way we'll be able to eliminate the boost oscillation issues. if you'd rather i email you directly regarding this let me know.

Gave the Stinger a run at a trackday yesterday. Car ran flawlessly and felt good. I managed to get a couple of logs running Map3 on 98 octane. Terry - can you please have a look at the logs for me and make sure all seems ok?

Looks pretty normal to me!

It's supposed to be the flash boost set point. Since we have not figured out how to read that yet it's a modeled flash boost set point. e.g. how much boost you'd target with JB4 disabled. Used by the EWG PID control system. Only appears in v14 firmware IIRC.

Dyno and 60-130mph run of another one of our JB4 Korean customers, bolt on mods, EWG connectors, WMI, pump gas. Hoping he can get in to the 8s with a few more tuning changes.
