I discovered a cool feature in the engine bay. if you drop a plastic trim clip or a small wrench in there, it ends up in another dimension. 3 plastic clips were lost, never to be seen again. 7mm wrench ended up on the frame in a spot behind the front right wheel. Took me an hour to find and another hour to fetch

Yeah - lost an 8mm or 10mm socket when doing plugs. Spent 30 minutes with a mag tool, but no luck. Thankfully, sockets are cheap

What's the best way to exit "auto high beam" mode? So far, I have tried pushing towards the front again, and eventually get frustrated and go to "DRL off" (I think) for a second, but it always freaks out my wife to have no lights in the dark for a second.

Manual says "pull towards you" briefly - but won't that flash the high beams? Usually I REALLY want to avoid high beams to be nice to oncoming traffic when I'm trying to turn off auto mode..

Men In Black. The red button on the top of the gear shift. Now I can't get that out of my mind.

Toward the bottom of the accelerator, on the brake side, there is a little plastic nub about the size of a quarter sticking out. It has a small plastic cover that is easy to remove. (Like if your vacuuming out the sand from a trip to the beach.) Inside is a little red button. WTH is the little red button? Couldn't find it in the owner's manual. Couldn't find it in the service manual. I just remember the instructions - DON'T PRESS THE RED BUTTON!

If the auto mode is working correctly it should dip your high beam the instant it detects oncoming traffic and you shouldn’t have to do anything. Mine often reacts faster than I can.

Not sure about your model but in Australia auto high beam can be disabled by disabling the auto on function on your head lamps so switching them to manual might disable the auto high beam completely.

I can fit 64lt of fuel in a 60lt tank. Maybe could have got another litre in the filler neck.

I think you’ve found a fuel pump that Weights and Measures need to know about.

Auto high beam only works when the switch is in the auto position, so if you want to cancel it, turn the switch upwards to the top position. The headlights will stay on, even when the switch passes the middle (park lights) position, if you flip it quickly and don't pause.

Good to know. The tank is annoyingly small for this size of car. I remember the 80L tank in my old 5 cylinder Audi from the 80's. 1000 km range if you were on a highway trip. That's part of the definition of luxury or premium. Not having to stop for fuel every time you turn around.

When I was young I wanted fuel tanks to allow me to drive for 8 hours without stopping. Now 2 hours is about right for a stop. To maintain the best possible attention to the task of driving and for bladder comfort. I'm happy with the compromise Kia chose for weight (and distribution), luggage space and other factors I haven't thought about. I love the car just as it is.

The fuel tank could be substantially larger without impacting anything about the design as-is. They just didn't consider it, which is irritating.

GT2 I assume? With my GT1, I was able to put it in reverse, auto-hold, get out and look at my new LED backup lights. Stayed in R the whole time.

Yeah GT is the top spec in Aus, so that would be equivalent to GT2 in US

So after just over 1.5 years of owning a Stinger I made a new discovery this afternoon. Have the car in drive and engage auto hold. Open the drivers door. Nothing happens, take the drivers seatbelt off and open drivers door (or open door then take off seatbelt) and the car automatically comes out of auto hold, disengages drive and engages park. Never noticed it before but I don’t use auto hold much

Can't speak for a GT2, but the GT1 definitely disengages auto hold while you are in the cat, sitting in "D" (and I presume also "R"), if you don't move within at least three minutes. A tone sound announces the appearance on the LCD that auto hold has been disengaged and the parking brake is being applied.

Just noticed today after 5000 miles of driving that the speedo changes scale at around 70 mph. From 0-65 or so the numbers are spaced out, from 70+ the numbers get condensed so that from 70-180 takes as much room on the speedo as 0-70. It took me this long to notice as I usually use the HUD.

I filled up the other day. Gage was showing just above half a tank. I put in 8.4 gallons. I thought the tank held 14 gallons.

Gauge is not accurate, but there may be a slightly larger tank than advertised. No way to tell except with a full fill-up on absolutely EMPTY.

Not sure about yours, but the specs on mine say 15.8.

I've put 15 in many times, 15.3 is the most. My low fuel warning light comes on at ~2gal remaining and DTE hits zero with about a gallon left.
