Kia Stinger 480 WHP vs Mustang GT 350

Sounds like we gotta 5 bro lurking on these forums. I think the fact that you would sign up on the Stinger forum just to boast about how great 5.0s are proves your desperate for a W. I've burned at least 4 5.0s and one of them was FBO+tune. And actually I think you got it the other way around there buddy. You throw any kind of spirited driving at a mustang driver and he will find the closest crowd to run into lmfao.

You're not capitalizing "Stinger". It's acceptable to use a lower case "m" on that ford car; and bmw, mb, audi; all good. But here, the correct way is "Stinger".:p

No worries. I like Mustangs too- I’m just sick of them. They’re ubiquitous, and mainstream. I’ve owned two, and had my last S197 for almost 15 years (the thumbnail). Whatever makes you happy, man.

A 10 speed coyote will gap any level of modded stinger. A tune only 5.0 A10 will absolutely gap any level stinger like it was sitting still. A 5.0 costs less. My 5.0 had cooled and heated leather, heated wheel, FULL digital display not the half like the stinger, etc etc. I think you’re the salty one for some reason

That's definitely not true... Sure, I had WMI on my old Stinger, but I gapped the absolute piss out of modded 5.0s on the freeway without issue. We never got a nice lineup and a race, but it was enough to see who had more power, and they definitely needed more than just a tune... Of course, the kind of Mustang driver that tries to instigate is usually not one with an actually fast Mustang, lol

You probably don't recognize that a FBO/WMI Stinger is putting out anywhere from 550-580HP at the crank. I pulled 442WHP before I even put WMI on it, I just never made it back to the dyno on WMI, but can confirm there were major gains in the top end just compared to before it was installed.

Granted, they sounded far better than my car, but modded Stingers are constantly being underestimated. It's like people forget how easy it is to make more power out of twin turbos...

It sounds like you should get rid of your Stinger and go with a Mustang then if thats your true love. I'm calling you out cause you sit here and say the Stinger isn't comparable to any "real sports cars" but thats absolutely false. Throwing out troll comments at the Stinger community is only putting yourself down if you have a Stinger dumbass. Meanwhile your profile says you drive an F150 lmfao! Ford fans are so obnoxious. The coyote motor is the bottom of the barrel when it comes to v8s so they feel they need to call out v6s cause they know they are slow vs something like an LS7.

You were saying.... Of course the sports car will take the stinger on a roll but from a dig stock for stock and even modified vs modified an AWD stinger will win off the line. I owned a 2015 5.0 with full bolt ons (JLT Intake, Longtube catless headers, cat back exhaust, LundRacing Flex Fuel Tune) so I'm not some Kia fan boy defending the platform lol.


I mean, this race was ridiculous, that GT has suspension, wheels and tires and the Stinger is wobbling all over the track on stock suspension, and the drag race makes me question wtf the driver of the mustang was doing.

In any case, even in the OP, that Mustang guy was hilarious with his evil genius laugh as the Stinger was sitting off the rear quarter panel close enough to touch, the initial loss was just turbo lag, then they were sitting dead even once it was spooled. This is a GT350 we're talking about, the video is only hilarious because he didn't just leave the stinger standing. Next time the stinger owner should turn turn the heated steering wheel off, or maybe the heads up display was getting in the way or was busy opening his kids Goldfish snack in the back.
 
Its actually pretty simple. You see when you own a Mustang 5.0 you get your feelings hurt a lot by losing to other real V8s like a Hellcat, or a Z06.

It’s even worse when you own a naturally aspirated 4.6 mustang from 2 decades ago haha. She runs low 13s with bolt ons & 4.10 gears but roll races never end well...

That’s one of the many reasons I got the Stinger! Also I’ve had nothing but mires & thumbs up from the mustang bros when they see what the kia can do.

you guys are very repetitive. I'm sure you did gap any of the many years of 5.0 that had a 6 speed auto or manual. The 10 speed auto is 2018+ and runs high 11's completely bone stock. Mod for mod it is faster, that is a fact not an opinion. they run 10s on just a e85 tune and some tire lol

I'm not hating on the stinger, i wouldnt own one if I thought they sucked, but its simply not as good of a performance car as an A10 mustang (as well as many other performance coupes) I'm not sure why thats such a hurtful point to a bunch of grown men lmao this car wasn't made to be a straight performer, its a large comfy touring sedan

The Mustang is one of the oldest sports car platforms out. They have had all the time in history to iron out the Mustang platform compared to only 2 years for the Stinger. Sorry if your too impatient after only 2 years of this platform being out to wait around for developments lmao. The only real limitation that still needs to be ironed out on the Stingers is the fuel pump. After that its easy to get this platform well above the 600hp mark with a simple turbo upgrade + tune. The motor is forged internals already so the sky is the limit once the fuel pressure issue is resolved. Every platform has its pains, but you can't sit here and say a platform thats had over 50+ years of evolution is comparable to a platform that was released only 2 years ago.

This is what I hate about Mustang fanboys. You guys are actually worse than GTR fanboys. Hey why don't we all just trade in all of our different sports cars to get a Mustang!? That way we can all be sheep.

The stinger does many other things better and thats why most of us own them... It's a great platform and I never once said that it isn't. I'm not sure why this is such a complex and offensive matter to people. Thanks for the fatherly advice on the trade in but I think I will keep this car for the intended purposes and add another mustang to the stable. How about you stop being a little bitch now and accept the fact that a stinger isn't the fastest thing on the track and it was never intended to be :)

yes 2 years is too long for me. I get a new car every 6-18 months. sorry grandpa

I think people are bristling because of the stance you're taking, that an auto 5.0 absolutely positively cannot be beaten and that's that. An 11 second dragstrip time doesn't mean squat diddly damn on the street, where there's no prepped surface for the perfect launch, no brake-boosting/torquing, and where there are many variables at play.

In a punch it and go situation, it's not hard to believe that the twin turbo engine with stump-pulling low end torque can pull on the peaky, high-revving NA V8. And since most street runs don't hit triple digits, it's equally easy to imagine the Stinger could hold off the 5.0 long enough to declare it a victory.

That was certainly the case when I went up against an 18+ auto; I pulled away enough that I was able to safely merge ahead of him when my lane ended. Unlike SOME people, he accepted it, with a thumbs up at the next light, even though I wasn't even trying to race.

I’m not saying it’s impossible. A FBO E85 stinger would probably pull a stock A10. Tune v. Tune a mustangs got it. Obviously on the street anything can happen, I’ve beaten an r8 and an m5 when obviously a stinger shouldn’t do that even with my mods. I’m talking more about the cars ability though, not wether the guy in the mustang forgot to take it out of paddle shift mode and mashed it in 7th gear doing 25mph
