Kia Stinger 480 WHP vs Mustang GT 350

Having owned a 2018 5.0 a10 fully loaded (traded due to transmission failure at 7k miles). I can say the mustang is indeed faster and better handling, but that is extremely limited by weather. Also, the stinger handling isn't that bad, I do have wider 245/275 wheels on dws currently. Obviously magnetic suspension will be better and it's a 2 door car. The weather is what people never think about too cold or wet pavement you can forget your 3.9s 0-60 and 12 s 1/4 mile. I beat a new ctsv with my stock awd gt2 because his tires wouldn't get any traction due to it being 45°F outside. Both have their ups and downs. I miss the power, sound and technology of the mustang for sure, but the stinger has more comfort and practicality plus drivable in all weather without being afraid of dying.

Also, the reliability of the mustang was a joke and it sat at the dealership for almost 4 weeks and the trans had to be rebuilt. Ford would not lemon law it. After that I had no trust in that car and definitely didn't want to deal with that after my warranty expired. The repair under warranty was around $6,000, so if you're not under warranty get ready for that possibility. My stinger has lifetime power train and 10 year bumper to bumper.

Don't forget, if your drive a mustang like the car it is, you will be getting 17-18 mpg while the Stinger can get around 23-25mpg. That 350 is likely getting 14-15mpg. It's just meant for one thing.

I wanted to trade in my Echo-mod-stang for the new a10 5.0 but decided against it. It's just screams frat boy all over it.

I know that I am playing with fire modding the Stinger, but a AWD drive 4.2 sec 0-60 Sedan that can do the 1/4 mile in the low-to- mid-12's is nothing to sneeze at.

A 10 speed coyote will gap any level of modded stinger. A tune only 5.0 A10 will absolutely gap any level stinger like it was sitting still. A 5.0 costs less. My 5.0 had cooled and heated leather, heated wheel, FULL digital display not the half like the stinger, etc etc. I think you’re the salty one for some reason

Not even close to "gap like it was sitting still". Also I sell cars for a living, and you're a fool if you think the 5.0 is a cheaper car. I got my AWD GT Stinger for 34k due to huge rebates/discounts. Most guys on this forum got stupid deals on their Stinger. A 10A 5.0 will run 40k+ all day. With any options whatsoever like the PP (which most people will want), you're looking at closer to 50k.

I did a 40-90 ish pull vs a 10 speed with bolt ons last week (not sure on tune), and I was pulling pretty solidly on him. Not bus lengths, but also not a particularly slow pull. I'm probably somewhere around 450 whp/ 500 wtq based on the mods compared to other guys here with the same mods. I did lose by about a car to another 10 speed last month who said he had FBO+Lund tune (this was from a 0-80 ish, unfortunately the Stinger is slow off the line). I was also in MAP 3 that day, not sure what difference a 1-2 PSI change would of made. Usually MAP 5 JB4 with E30+ intake+muffler deletes. That's not to say that a 5.0 10 speed isn't quicker stock for stock, and mod for mod, because it is. I'm just saying a bolt on/tune vs bolt on tune is a closer race than you think. Especially on the street vs AWD. Many people on this forum are in mid-high 11's with similar mods to the typical bolt on/tune 5.0. A few guys here with tune and bolt ons are in the 120-125 trap range apparently, 5.0 A10's are also in this range typically, though a few have hit 127+ I believe.

for FBO+a good tune+slicks the record for a while on the new 10 speed was something like a 10.9. On street tires, with same mods, I'd say they are both realistically mid-high 11's (with a lot more Stingers in the low 12's than 5.0's which are probably consistently high 11's). Many of us are running AWD so traction is a non issue, even with the stock Pilot 4S's (great tire for street). So long story short, good chance that the 5.0 will win, but it will be a relatively competitive race for sure.

What really puts the Stinger at a disadvantage here is the horrible 60 ft times. Even vs the AWD, the 5.0 launches SO much harder than the non boost launching Stinger. The trap speeds are similar mod for mod, but you'll see .3-.7 ish lower times on the quarter with the same mods due to that shitty launch. Again, in these scenarios people are typically discussing roll racing, so saying it beats it like it's standing still seems unlikely.
