If you have made a pre-order, check in with that dealership for any news on pricing before making a decision.

With light of this new information I was buzzing last night and decided to go see my local Kia Dealer this morning.
He has confirmed the information above and again has mentioned that this information is confidential.
He is placing orders today for the 'pre-sales' in which I was the first.
Confirmed for me my car will be Snow White Pearl with Red Nappa Leather in 3.3ltr GT spec.
It will come with the most items I deem important but didn't have information regarding Heated, Cooled seats etc as they have not been released.
I enquired about a Tow bar, Floor matts and Boot liner which are TBC at a later date and are in the process of being developed in Australia.
He believes the manufacturing will begin by the end of this month and delivery some time in September.

He said that Kia dealerships know the price but cannot disclose as yet and will be released when the car is launched in Australia, in which they don't have that date yet but will let me know as it becomes available.

When I asked whether I will be disappointed with the price all he could say was "no". My contract is signed for $60,000 so it could be a little up or down from there but as 'Kia Deals' mentioned an earlier price of $65,500 would actually mean that I would be dissapointed as that is an increase of 10% from my signed price which I consider to be not a little.

Kia Australia from day one quoted the car was around $50-52K plus on roads for the top of the line GT. I imagine that was quoted to them from Korea Head office otherwise where did they get that price? It would be a pretty big jump to charge an extra 8-10K plus on roads, at least I hope not.

I couldn't agree more, thats what I was eluding to. They know the prices so it's not an 'around' price.

Hey Marco. Good calls, I'm in full agreeance. Re cooled ventilated seats ... If that is omitted from Aussie spec that would be a huge FAIL.

I agree, He did say that it would seem unlikely that it would be omitted as it would be more trouble to remove than not left in.

The 2018 Commodore will have it so they would need to be a step infront.

I agree. We were initially drawn in with the $50k figure, now we are talking $65k+. Thats a whole different ball game.

Anyway, will have to wait and see whether to cancel my order.

Oh man yeah for sure! Seems we're all bit price sensitive down under. Not only are we looking for a great (...the best) car Kia can give us, but we also want the value they promised.

There was a US dealer that shared some info on Twitter regarding prices (estimates of course) and it was $31,000 for the low end version and should top out at around $43,000 for the high end GT model.

I would have to go through and search for which dealer shared this info, but I do remember it was an actual dealer and for them to share pricing info they're probably pretty certain that it's accurate. The price range makes sense based on other info that's out there floating around along with how it's priced in Korea currently.

Now that we can breath a little easier until facts are told/known...

Why do you think final prices are withheld?
It is obviously important.
(...this could just be a general question too, not just specifically Kia Stinger).

e.g.

1. have they still not decided?
2. does it affect market position?
3. does it hold out potential buyers (like us)?
4. are they still negotiating this with head office (korea)?
5. are they concerned about supply (or demand)?
6. staff training?
7. product documentation?
8. ?

Also would like to add, the salesman has driven the test mule and says that it's power is compatible to any SS and the rear wheel drive specification eliminates the torque steer and this car runs smoother and is more responsive than any SS he has ever driven before, Just saying.

Let's try and nip this in the bud before it starts making people dislike the car before it's even available to purchase. How much does the comparable Audi and BMW cost over there?

It is still a Kia remember. This car could well help improve that brand standard, but it has to prove itself first.

Earlier on this thread App_Master quoted through the BMW Website that the 440i grand coupe was $99,000 drive away and I recall someone else in another thread quoting around $120,000 for an Audi A5, these are in Australian dollars and are spec'd similarly to the 3.3 GT.

We pay a premium for the European models so they are not readily compatible.

It's major competitors are either locally built (which cease in October) or are outside the 'Big 3' german models,
Previous Ford Falcon XR8$58,000 D.A.
2017 SSV Commodore - $62,000 D.A.
2018 Commodore - Prices not released but I imagine it would be more affordable than the current model (smaller engine and made overseas, they need to win over their current buyers)
Passat $65,000 DA
This being a Kia and trying to change it's perception from a cheap boring brand to a quality luxurious exciting brand needs to be earned against these models (brands) that already have followers.

Far enough, and these (comparisons) have been discussed. In regards to BMW and Audi prices the Stinger's value still reigns supreme. But they need to buy into this market by first tackling the respective price market of the Holden, Ford, maybe Chrysler, maybe Genesis, Skoda too?

The issue raised by this "outrageous number" (true or not) is that it seems along way off the expected price region "published" since the January debut. It can be understood that the hype has overwhelmed those here willing to take the leap (as most of us have not even seen it) but still ready to lay down the $$$ of what they originally estimated, let alone be willing to shell $5k, $10k, $15k more. Come on...

Did Kia say it was going to cost under $50k in US Dollars or Australian? I can pretty much guarantee it's going to cost under $50k USD otherwise they'd be ridiculed non-stop by the media and the American people if they came in any higher than that. They'd be laughed out of the industry - mainly for hyping up such a good price and not coming through...

So what's $50k in AUS? Is that not $67570.00? Because that's what I'd expect if it's going to cost $50k in America.

If Kia was saying under $50k AUS for the fully loaded twin turbo V6 - then that would mean we're getting it here in the U.S. for $36998.67. And that's just not possible...
