What are these spots in my engine bay

Maybe just spray paint it gloss black. Would look better than the OEM if ya do it right. Save ya from a dealer headache.
Rango thats a great fallback idea. In the meantime I'm going to see where this goes because I only have 2 dealerships within 30 min of my location. This one that has a good reputation and the other one that raised thier stinger prices online after the new i was headed there to buy one. Never going to the secound one again. Next closest dealership is 1:15 away .

Final update everyone. The dealership swears up and down the car came in with that staining under the hood and everyone remembers my car and the staining (because they dont get them in there). They all agree staining looks like it began in the engine bay and worked it's way out with the hood open but refuse to take any responsibility for it. Only other person that has touched my car was the window tint guy and that was months ago and not him. kia claims my detailer did it even though I am the detailer and I dont clean my engine bay and have never added any chemicals to the car yet. I dont want to call them liars but I'm stumped....

hey @jsrob905 I can’t tell from the pictures but is there splatter in the strut braces?

From the picture the splatter looks like it’s only on the shroud, despite a wide spray pattern that would encompass other parts in the engine bay. I would expect there to be splatter on the surrounding parts. IF there isn’t, a tech would have had to clean every part except for the shroud...doubtful. I’m wondering if this was a splatter from the factory that was clear when the spill happened but then turned to the color it is now after time or other environmental factors like temperature activated the color change. maybe?

Unfortunate, but as you don't know what was on the panel before and after you went to the dealer, it's pretty hard to make a case. Consider it a lesson learned - at least check your oil after getting it back from an oil change. They wouldn't be the first to under or overfill the oil quantity, so always double check.

If those marks are just on the surface of the panel, I'm sure there is a cleaning solution out there that will get it off - hope you can find the right stuff!

Just an observation: if the staining occurred with the hood open, then the spots would have ended up on the bumper too; the staining ends exactly at the edge of the shroud. So, the conclusion must be as hypothesized above: outside the car, something splattered the shroud.

Nope nothing on the struts. I guess it's time to use some elbow grease, but a new one, or keep the hood closed.

Well I think the next course of action is obvious. Time to involve a chemist with a spectrometer

I doubt the part is too expensive , as suggested earlier paint would likely cover the spots , or plasti dip or wrap it ...................hopefully you'll find a cleaning product/method ( stiff brissle brush ? ) to remove it ...........good luck !

Very logical Merlinthemad. You sound like a scientist . I like it.

I flunked science in high school, out of boredom. But I do have the mind of an engineer, so, there is that. :D
"The Master" is an arch villain in the Dr Who franchise. I'll take it.:rofl:

I think the shroud remained on the car, and whatever splattered on there discolored or dissipated into that finely pebbled plastic it is made of - without affecting the surrounding surfaces (or cleaned up from those easily afterward).

No reason for it to be removed for a simple oil change, and it sounds like that is the only time the car has been in for service since new. I think a more rigorous cleaning attempt is in order, or failing that replacement - painting it is not going to look good.

Merlin is a doctor who fan. I love it so am I !!!!!

I exasperated my parents by doing "Calvin mugging" the instant my Dad would snap the shutter (decades before Calvin was invented - Calvin and Hobbes, Calvin). Ruined many a picture. :p This one actually turned out funny, not ruined; looking back, of course. At the time they just wanted me to smile sweetly. Hah.

I'm a big david tennant fan and matt Smith was great too. The last two mehhhhh.

Tom Baker was THE Dr Who regen. The rest, meh.
