I agree no one NEEDS the higher limit. I know I would end up wanting it as I would take it to the salt flats or somewhere, just because.. it's good to hear someone has already unlocked the limiter. I really think Kia should have just put high speed all seasons on the car. It sucks that my optima has a higher limit than the stinger with 18's. I also believe they could have been far more upfront about the limit. No one including dealers had any idea..

actually the LAP 3 uncle chip does work in all of our stingers and I know this for a fact plug and play and confirmed it with David from K5Optima store since I have one for my 2013 Optima SXL and it is the same tuner and harnesses on the map and baro side!!!

Someone on this forum somewhere said they put it on a Dyno and Max was 137 I think.
\I put it on a dyno TOPPED OUT AT 134 AND MADE 311 WHP sorry the whp as we all know is maybe a little off with the dyno

Yes I agree but we are all human, as long as it ends here and does not continue. Newbies need to read and understand the rules before hand so they know the dos and donts.
I agree.but in this case I dont think rules are the problem some people just dont have common sense and lack basic decency ( which is very scary considering this is a public Forum ) I guess we just have to see.................

Huh? What did I say about the lap3 chip?

Thankyou. Unfortunately like texting the written part is difficult to get the interpretation and emotion from writer corrrectly. If we stay away from this type of banter we can avoid the back lash and offence. I understand the passsion just channel it into a positive discussion. I had a similar issue not long ago and I actually misinterpreted what the poster was getting at. After some thought and patience I got what he meant and it’s all ok now. Just be careful. All good.
Yes, it would appear that some people can not handle banter! I do find it humorous that some guys can banter and say I am "a shit distributer", "irrationally", and should die. Are following the rules of what is and is not allowed. Futhermore, it is interesting that males are allowed to suggest that females should be submissive and abused as they are dragged by their "man". These same humans band together when a healthy dose of banter is given back.

Maybe we could get back on point about what this topic is and is not about! Seeing how I like to point others oppinions; here is mine: this topic is not about the legal, moral, or erhical aspect of speeding. Nor was the topic started to talk about were the dealer left your window sticker.

However, in my Opinion this topic was stared to talk about KIA's roll out and the issues that effects us who purchased the AWD with all season tires. How the dealers did not have the information to pass on to customers. Last, I see this topic as a way for the cliets involved to unite for a soulution to the dissatisfaction.

Sir, thank you for your kind reminder that not every human can handle witty banter. I hope you have a lovely rest of your weekend. If you have a Stinger enjoy the rest of your weekend in your car.

That is disappointing. However, do you think one that will fit the G2's will be out soon?

Maybe? I got mine to 138mph not on dyno. Have not tried again. So, far the poll states that 75% did not know about the limmiter on the poll.

It has been 10 days and 12 pages later, i have been reading about this issue preventing your enjoyment of your Stinger, and with some other members in the same boat, i agree that Kia should have notified and trained their dealerships to be upfront with this speed limiter issue, but even they did not know about it, from what has been said.
Even though your not quite a new member, better late than never...haha
Welcome to the forum, im glad to see we can move forward in a positive approach to this issue, as im sure we all really want to support you in your efforts to reach a satisfactory result with Kia.
In regards to your above comment, it is not acceptable in society today for males to suggest females should be submissive and abused as they are dragged be their man, as for the males whom you associate this comment too, are also a great concern to the greater population of men who treat women with respect and are gentlemen. I have always believed that not all women and all men are the same, it's not brain surgery, maybe you just have not had the chance to know a true gentleman, there is plenty out there.
Hope you see, i have said my peace, i hope you can let us help you with any advice, and we now move on to discussing politely about our passion, STINGER.

Nicely said!

Have you purchased a Stinger, in the market, or are you an enthusiast? I can't say that I do not enjoy the car. KIA did a nice job with many aspects of the car! The company has the ability to settle with a few and gain loyal costumers. One thing that could have helped was how they named the trim packages. For, example maybe call the loaded out AWD a GT1, the RWD a GT2, and the step down trims a GT or Stinger based on options. At least in the American market many would expect the GT2 to have a higher speed rating.

In Australia we have three 2.0ltr turbo models: 200S , 200Si and GT-Line, the 3.3ltr V6TT we also have three models: 330S , 330Si and GT. I like how it is easier to know which model is which, im not to sure about having three models in the US like GT , GT1 and GT2 and all have the same badge, only the top V6TT model here has just the GT badge.

No AWD models in Australia.

Apart from the speed limiter issue, are you completely happy with your Stinger, or have you experienced or found any other issues with it.

I don't know about others but I can tell you I have 7000 miles on mine and its been a warranty nightmare. I can't go into anything about it yet because I may be retaining a attorney but its been a mess with 11 repair orders 4 pretty serious my car cat for 3 weeks just waiting for thousands of dollars and a laundry list of parts. And they actully threw parts at one part of it with engine they had no clue the cause so don't even know if it will fix it. So I do hope you all have better luck then myself. But I do like the car outside of its issues and the speed limiter.

Sorry to hear your going through this nightmare, it must be devastating, no one deserves these sort of issues your going through with a new car, i would hope they fix it right first time, and quickly, or hope the US have strict lemon car laws so you can have it replaced right away. Im really shaken up too hear your issues with your Stinger.

let me extend an olive branch and apologize for posting that image of the cave man dragging the woman by the hair in post #86.

if you're still talking about it then it must have really bothered you. you missed my point. i had replied to your message where you said "Life has taught me that too many boys think they can run all over the female race". i posted that image and said "it's getting better compared to what it used to be". my intention was to make the point that while things may be moving slowly, they're moving in the right direction. we no longer live in the days of the neanderthal. life is an improvement for women since then. no?

i think kia needs to reflash peoples stingers. most people will never want to go past 140 but you never know when the opportunity might arise. and i bet it will be harder to sell as some people will walk away at the idea of the stinger you're trying to sell is limited compared to other stingers.

I will most def be sending my stinger past 140 if fixed and given the chance we hane many many open track events here in Minnesota like Powercruise and Proving Grounds and maybe 7 others and we have the track all day or all weekend.

I appreciate it i have 29 pages of notes and repair orders some pretty serious and in pretty upset I or anyone should never have to go thru this with a new car that kia claims to be there new pride and joy that has been tested and beat pretty well. Please watch for a few common issues it will most likely come up.

Alright. I understand emotions are high in this thread but let’s try to stay on track. Myself and others here did not know about the reduced speed with the all season wheel+tire package. They small sample size from the poll shows the majority of didn’t. What we should do is have all of us who want to reach out to Kia and voice our concern. Does anyone have contact information to the appropriate person or department at Kia? Get us all on the same page. A fix for this will not come from the dealership, Kia’s corporate office would have to be the ones to either appprove or deny a resolution. I’m not optimistic this will actually get resolved in a satisfactory manner but having a single point of contact will help us present our case more effectively. I feel we should push for the more realistic option of a onboard computer flash to the advertised 167mph limit and shift mapping since that would be a much lower cost to Kia. If wheel and tire size are an issue then I think we should be provided the 19” staggered rims in addition but I highly doubt we’d get that due to the cost point of said wheels.
Personally, I know I probably would have waited to purchase mine with the standard wheels and tires had I known. Will I use the extra speed? Probably not, but I’m damn sure I don’t like the idea of paying the same amount of money as another person and getting less from the product. And if anyone from Kia is reading this, I love my Stinger GT2 so far but it’s things like this that I’ll remember when it’s time to decide to be a repeat buyer down the road. I hope making things right and being a company who stands by their products and customer is as important to you as it is to you consumers.

Also, anyone who wants to go the extra mile could reach out to some auto press about this. It’s a high profile car getting lots of attention. If there was some actual articles written on this Kia may be more inclined to find a solution given this is supposed to the car to redefine the brand and would most likely want to avoid negative press. Misleading buyers, intentional or not, on the capabilities of an expensive performance vehicle is not a good look for any car manufacturer.

TLDR: who can we all reach out to at Kia USA to voice our concerns over not getting the car’s advertised capabilities aside from some small print many of us and the dealers we bought from were unaware of?

i'm sorry to hear you bought a lemon. that's a shame. your stinger is a lemon. what makes it worse is that your dealership isn't much better.

class action lawsuit to get the speed limiter programed out if the proper tires are on the vehicle.
