Had to go to my dealership today and mentioned the whole 'controversy' about the limited top speed. THEY WERE CLUELESS. None of the salesman OR THE SALES MANAGER knew that the Stingers equipped with 18's were top speed limited. Now multiply this by hundreds of Kia dealerships in the United States. THIS IS A PROBLEM.

I'll bite my tongue but your driving should be saved for the track. The interstate isn't the place to race your car. The Autobahn with no speed limit is not comparable to a US interstate.

You are a younster so I too will bite my tongue. I will point out that I have 20 years more driving experience! O" and an amazingly clean drivers license. I don't want you to drive fast if you are uncomfortable with speed!

I'm perfectly comfortable with speed which is why I keep it to the TRACK. I don't believe in playing games with other peoples' lives.

Kia is making it much more public now but they need to do a PSA to their salespeople or something. I watch for Stinger info like a hawk and didn't see anything about the reduced top speed with all weather tires until I ran across this thread.

I was not aware about the reduced speed when I purchased my car and I was definitely not told by sales staff. I doubt I'd ever drive that fast anyways but I'm disappointed in the decision to reduce my cars potential in case I ever did go do a track day. Didn't like the smaller wheel size decision either but at least they were up front about it. Nearest GT2 not specced out with 18" wheels was almost 100 miles away.

Hello everyone and I am new sorry to Just post like this I am just posting this too but just bought a 2018 Stinger GT Micro Blue it came with the 18 inch wheels optional wheels which i did not know about since i bought the car on a sat after hours on a Sat after work and the window sticker was all ready removed, I did not see the tire size or the sicker until the next day at home in the daylight.

then to find out a week later I put the car on a dyno and only goes 134 mph on the dyno again not released to me I asked the dealer they knew nothing about it. the car actually spent 3 weeks in service with only 7000 miles on it with a ton of problems and it had 12 cases opened with consumer affairs that has been escalated to managers including the tires wheels and speed limiter and the huge problems that I really cant get into right now because lots going on with it.

but believe it or not kia did come back with a insulting proposal for the tires wheels and speed limiter and was to pay two of my car payments instead because they did not want to pay the price for the wheels and tires but i was told the pcm can be re-flashed to the 167 mph speed limiter and this is coming from some top people this car has been a mess from day one I will release all my notes and service notes and email on all social media and forums when I am done if Kia does not agree to what I am asking for and there are pages and pages and pages of stuff with their perfect car that is not so perfect even disclosure issues and lieing to customers and false advertising.

Anyone here may think anything or talk how they want as I did speak with several different Attorneys about it and believe it or not the information does not just have to be posted publicly but guests have to be told before the purchase of any and all option and equipment changes to the vehicle in or before port and there not doing that their not even telling dealers about the speed limiter change. Most of us have researched this car for months and bought this car expecting to buy it one way or the way it was tested and it is not what were getting and I plan to put a stop to it!!!

if anyone is interested in following this please let me know I have 7000 miles of documents and problems even engine problems

Yea count me in my car was also prepped and ready to go no sticker etc etc please can you summarise how you started with Kia and just to add if the 18's are a zero dollar option so are the 19's

Hey, thanks for posting and sorry you're having so many issues. Just a quick note, if you are working with attorneys....you may want to refrain from posting so you don't risk your case. But thanks for sharing....

My issues started with the car problems then the case was escalated to managers in the escalated team and higher they have been helping but also insulting, though at times helpful they have been staying on it closely they know I will send everything I have on all forums and all social media about this car and with all the repair orders and email i have on this new car of theirs they do not want any of it getting out to people, just call consumer affairs and start a case with them that is where you start and also I agree I did research and the disclaimer about the speed limiter was not on there when I bought the car under the kia page and that was added sometime after and I actually have everything printed and all the disclaimers printed from Dec 9th 2017 and none of that was present then so they new they messed up at some time after I will keep this updated as I know more.

I'm assuming you've checked the glove box already? Every car we sell has its window sticker in the glove box when it leaves our lot. Obviously not all dealerships operate the same, so no promises.

thanks for the input but the sticker is the least of my worries it merely proves that there is no cost diff in wheels and it doesn't mention the speed cap and further proves that this was not disclosed at point of sale. not really interested getting into a debate with someone that's is a dealer I've called 5 dealers and none of them mentioned our problem when asked about this tire package

The sticker was in the glove box for me to in a envelope sealed I did not see it for two days and was not explained any equipment on the vehicle standard or optional when I bought mine either I did not see the tire size until two days later when I pulled that sticker out then looked at my tires in the garage I was pissed.

My sticker only mentioned the all season tires not a speed reduction. I noticed the "option" and asked to be informed of why they took the 19s off. As many have pointed out we researched the car for months and their dealers who received "special training" are clueless so it is reasonable to expect the costumers were unaware of the reduced speed.

Does your sticker say anything about a reduced speed. The one I have does not!

This sounds like one more way for the dealers to screw you. Practices like this is something you all (dealers) should be ashamed of.
