• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Kia Stinger - Australia discussions (pre-release)

Thanks hereward, the comparisons to a well kitted BMW 440i is compelling for various reasons.

More news from one of my favorite car news websites; Kia Stinger: Australian arm

To note here were these;
  • “We’re determined to get the right sound from the car,”
  • ... [not] finalised until August.
  • [local suspension] work is now “done and dusted”
  • the brand’s new halo car is most definitely “a special piece of kit”.
  • [variants] entry-level, mid-spec, and full-fruit versions of both the 190kW/353Nm turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder and 272kW/510Nm twin-turbocharged 3.3-litre V6

Last week, I placed a preorder with my local KIA dealer here on the Darling Downs. Not sure if they had received other orders, but he assured me that I will be the first in the area to own one (not that it is that important).

Apparently, they will receive one for demo purposes in August with the first customer shipment of 500 units reaching Australia with delivery slated sometime in September.

Now, I know that this might be a bit of an oxymoron, but has anyone heard whether the Stinger can tow? The dealership said they weren't sure but going on the Optima (1400kg towing and 80kg towball limit) they felt that it should be much higher than that. However, I note that the Hyundai Genesis has zero towing ability which may rub off on the development of the Stinger.

Nice one, Shark16.
Welcome and thanks for the inside info.
Congrats on ordering.
Heard nothing on towing either, but I'm sure the option or spec will exist down the line. We Aussies do love to tow things.

PS .... Why the Sharkies mate? Broncs all the way ;)

Well.....I was born and raised in the Shire, went to school across the road from Shark Park and followed them since they joined the comp in 1967.

But as you would appreciate it, its been a long time till we won our first premiership. So I'm having great delight in reminding everyone this year, Sharks are the current reigning premiers.

UP UP Cronulla..........

So I just saw my dealer here in NZ. He said that all the Kia dealers here are heading to Wellington next Friday the 9th of June for a half day meeting regarding the Stinger release. He assumes that we will then hear full specs and pricing etc.

I believe that the same sort of thing is happening in Auz this week???

I hope so, I'm really getting anxious.

Yeah im just about to start hassling my dealer as i think most of us know more about these cars than the sales reps right now, Kia are onto a winner here no doubt about it

I mentioned this in price thread....but my dealer rang me last week to confirm colour preference. Suppose to contact me this week with more details...I'm hoping for price, features and options. Yeah baby.

Just had an update from my dealer.

The GT version is to commence production on 1 July with shipment being slated to arrive in Australia in September. The 2 litre version will be manufactured later in the year.

A couple of things that he mentioned (which may already be covered elsewhere):
  • Electronically controlled suspension
  • has 10 years of map updates
  • There will be 3 colours that will be confined to the GT version being - Snow White Pearl, Deep Chrome Blue and Black. The GT can be in other colours but those 3 will only be available in the GT.
Thats about all I could remember of our conversation. Of course pricing details will come closer to the date.

Also believes that it should come with a full sized spare (not verified).

Thanks for the update! I am a fan of the Deep Chrome Blue!

I wish we knew the corresponding interior colors to the externals you mentioned.

I just received all the Aussie model details just now (but not the price or full features lists).
Suffice to say, I am very happy with the models (i.e. breakdown of models and colours avail etc) and specifically the "GT" inclusions ... it is very cool indeed! :):):)

I have been specifically asked in strict confidence, not to advise or publish this. So sorry guys, I wont put it up here "just yet".

If you (Aussies) do want more details ... contact me via private conversation ("PM") for my email address or phone number, but your dealer should be able to divulge this info to true prospective buyers.

HI lostnspace

I only know the interior colours for Snow White Pearl (as this is the one I have ordered). You have the option of Black or Red leather.

Yes I agree, that Deep Chrome Blue is very nice.

So you know the difference between the blues - Micro Blue (M6B) and Deep Chroma Blue (D9B)

Interesting. I thought only 3 colours were coming for the GT as per an earlier post??

No, only 3 colours that were available in the GT and not in any other spec level. There are other colours available for GT. In other words, if you wanted Snow White Pearl, Deep Chrome Blue or Black you have to buy a GT.
