• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

What did you do to your Stinger in Australia today?

Nice mate. Those aftermarket wheels give it a different look.
Thanks, yeah really happy with my choice & the different look.

They make me look twice to make sure they're not the same as I have. They're not, but at first glance they look alike. :P

Took her in at 8am for 20,000km service, said they’d have it back by 11, ended up ringing me at 10am to say it’s all done. Surprised they got it done in 2 hours. Mentioned to them a slightly annoying rattle/squeaky/rubbing sound coming from the drivers door. Wasn’t sure if it was the window or the door itself. It wasn’t anything I was going to bother about but they asked if there was anything wrong with the car. It’s more annoying than wrong. Anyway they told me the door was a little loose and they tightened it and fixed the noise. I actually think it sounds worse now than it did before.

Service manager asked me if I was going to put bimodal on. Told him I’d been thinking about it until I saw the prices recently. He said that price is for the new models as he claims they’re a slightly different system. Told me he’d have a look at what he can do for a 2018 model but assured me it wouldn’t be the $3315 currently displayed on the Kia website. Told him they were $2500 originally and I’d like less than that. Said he’d see what he can do. Can’t see it happening but for a good price I’d consider it.

Love my bi-modal.

@Coast GT Alan Mance in Melbourne have bi-modal regularly listed on eBay $1998 with $50 delivery so if they can sell at that price I would imagine your dealer should be able to source one and fit well under $2.5k
I'd be curious to learn what changes have been made from the original design and fit.

Thanks for the info. I was a bit skeptical when he mentioned it given the cars haven’t changed. Can only assume they’ve done something different to the actual exhaust but not sure what.

I have seen a few indications that the fuse boxes may have changed. Give the bimodal exhaust control u it takes a power feed from a spare fuse location, this may be part of the issue.

Yes but you still need to have it fitted...its not an easy job lots to remove from car.
Better off getting dealer to do, plus then they're responsible for any stuff ups and warranties .

I was never doing it myself, not sure where you got that idea from.

I’m not 100% sure but I read somewhere that the new bi-modal system doesn’t require the dash to be removed & also some changes in the fuse box have been made.
I also read about someone who purchased an MY20 & was having the Varex bi-modal & the install was delayed as Varex had to supply different parts to suit the fuse box changes.

Explain new, what's different?

Have no idea of the changes, I’m not across any of the technical changes/upgrades, I had only read briefly somewhere that they we working on a “new” or upgraded system that’s all I can offer sorry.

If the new version doesn’t need the dash to be removed I’d be happy with that, less chance of squeaks and rattles, but surprised it would cost more as the quoted price on the Kia website is fitted which would include labor. Should be less if they don’t have to pull the car apart you would think.

That is the only thing that stopped me from fitting it. If that's not needed I will sell a kidney and get it done lol.

After getting mine back today they confirmed that the current iteration is definitely wired to the rear fuse box
