Does anybody else need to learn where the wheels are on this car?

How many of you have already dinged/scraped your gorgeous alloy rims on your Stinger?

  • I have done that more than once.

  • I have only scraped my wheel once, that was enough to tell me where the wheels are.

The camera specially on the sides are really bad.. its like 240p.
Fascinating. You have 360 cameras and still managed to rash your RF rim? I can't "picture" this. Was it nighttime? The curb must have not been distinguishable in the dark.

Went to DC, had to do parallel park, the space was so tiny, I was just focused on the line on left and bumped bad in to curb. There goes around $200-250.

It shouldn't be that much for a single rash. Our local rim repair guys charge a minimum of $125 and it takes one day: goes up from there to as much $500 for rims that need straightening, and can take up to four days.

Daytime, but the curb stone and the asphalt had the same grey-ish tone so i t was hard to see what was what.
Also, i think the side views shows only a tiny strip on the display (i often have 360 and not selecting one particular side tho)

That's good to hear, I will check out local shops soon. Only reference I had was from the quote from my accident, which had wheel repair in there for 230 something.

This the scratch

This the scratch
Sidewall looks like it really took one for the team. Those scratches are quite deep, but not extensive. You could sand them down to almost nothing and polish up with 2000 grit wet sandpaper (use lots of water). I did this, a lot, last year.

That said, this is a doodle repair for wheel repair guys. Should be minimal charge.

Thanks. I would try to get it done soon.

This thread has turned into my "log" of "incidents". Heh! Each time I suffer yet another self-inflicted wound, I post it here.

And so, today's: I tried for a favorite end spot, but the next one over to the left was occupied. I tried to squeeze in close to the curb to get far enough away; that should have been my first clue; the driver had parked way over to the right, almost touching the line. My RF wheel went "scritch" for the merest instant and I stopped moving instantly. The curb still got my rim c. two inches worth, including the end of a spoke. Damn. I touched it up at once. Then went inside to visit my mother (no visit; she slept the whole hour I sat there). Came out and took a pic. Oops, missed a spot:

Got out the gloss black again and touched the spot. All better. (Well, as good as it gets in the real world, anyway.:laugh: )

While I'm at it (collecting my "incidents" in a signal chronicle), I need to remember the previous two that never got mentioned here. The most recent wasn't really a curb rashing: it happened at the end of August, in the opening of a car wash tunnel: when I didn't release the parking brake, and therefore "N" was inoperative, resulting in the "grabbers" lifting my two left wheels and dropping them against the guide rail, rashing both of them simultaneously (even though I only discovered this several days apart). And prior to this, my last (until today) curb rash incident was last February as I did exactly what happened today, only a mirror image of it: I pulled into a left end stall and hugged the curb to get as far away from the next car as I could, and hugged too closely and scraped the LF rim. I sanded that down within the hour and all was good until two days later when the car wash kid (first time sending a car, MY car, through the tunnel, without having been trained: it was his first day) managed to rash both left rims all the way around against the guide rail (which resulted in my getting the OE wheels powder coated gloss black). I think that's about it, catching up.

Merlin you are mistaken Mr. @westcoastGT is giving you a bonafide tip. You buy those beauties and your "find the curb" problem goes away. Heck you probably only have to buy one. Always take a good tip to heart and never mock the giver.:D

Well then my friend......I am out of suggestions. But if it makes you feel any better I too have gouged 3 of my 4 rims to the point of professional repair and my Stinger has freakin cameras! However my dealer threw in the Global Warranty package to get my business so the $540 for the fix was covered.:). I have since "LEARNED MY LESSON":geek:
