FAQ: Vibration under braking: warped rotors? NO!

That did sound more like what he was saying based on that measurement. I don't recall actually hearing the word "warped." Now why that can't be fixed with a simple realignment is beyond me.
Especially since a crooked rotor is usually (always?) caused by improper/uneven tightening of the wheel bolts, if I am getting what I've read right.

I'll see if I can get some additional deets to shed more light on the matter on Tuesday when they get replaced. Sounds to me like Kia is trying to avoid a recall.

I have had 1 set of rotors turned, then replaced at 15,000 miles. Now at 45,000 miles slight vibration under braking. bought the stop tech brake pads and bedded them, now no vibration

So you installed the stop tech pads on the slightly pulsating rotors, and no more pulsations?

This is good news

glad to see there is a post about this already the rotors on the GT are deff not from Brembo (its not the pads its the rotors) I smoked my rotors recently during a very high speed run I wont go into details for the fact of trolls. But a warning to all if you slow down from anything above 120mph you WILL over heat the rotors and they will turn to jelly and you might as well kiss them goodbye. the rotors where fine on my car under normal to hard braking at normal speeds soon as I needed the Brembos at higher speeds they failed horribly bad I had to use the transmission to slow down good thing I have experience or this would of turned out real bad. I love the car so much but the last thing I though would fail on me where my brake rotors. KIA will understandably not cover them and that's with me knowing the the service manager very well and personally , so I'm left to find aftermarket drilled and slotted the hunt begins this can not happen to me again.

Speed Week, last year, Kia sent European spec pads to replace the US OEM pads, when the car went off the track because the brakes went away. There was no replacing of rotors. Randy Pobst had no problem with the Stinger he drove and was impressed with. So, what makes the difference here? Good hunting. That's all I can say.

After 25k same issues with shaking wheel when braking at high après.
I try the method, 2 times but the problem still.
Today i was at the dealer for oil change and explain the problem.
For the moment he schedule me for new disk and pad .
Free of charge of course.

Can you define exactly how you damaged the rotors?

Sorry for your experience, but my rotors hold up just fine braking from above 120mph.

As stated in the original post, this is nothing to do with faulty rotors, but most people choose to ignore that information - dealers included who are happy to get reimbursed from KIA for unnecessary labor expenses.

If by " the method" you are referring to repeating the procedure you should use to bed in new pads, that will only work if done soon after you detect new deposits causing vibrations. If they've baked on for thousands of miles, it will not work.

I've had vibration twice now, and successfully removed it twice in a couple of minutes following that procedure. I have also had (and resolved) the same "issue" on my Sorento.

Knowledge is power..

New evidence indicates that the rotors are, in fact, from Brembo.

So replacing the pads alone should solve the problem? When you guys replaced the pads what areas of the brakes did you lubricate? I'm looking how to change the brembo pads and in all the videos I saw, they never lubricated anything.

The consensus is that it's a pad problem and not a rotor problem.

As for lubricating when I inevitibly do mine pads I'll lubricate the caliper pins, edges of the brake padmounting tabs, and back side of the brake pads, but it's not like it's absolutely required.

Changing the pads won't remove the vibration, that's caused by pad deposits that have been baked onto the rotors.

Changing to aftermarket pads plus resurfacing the oem rotors should solve the issue unless you have info that we don't.

Search for "cementite".
Okay great, how many confirmed cases of that with the Stinger? Almost everyone on the forum has said that the resurfacing of their factory rotors fixed the problem only for it to return later on. So resurfacing the rotors and adding aftermarket pads with a better compound right away is likely the long term solution.

If some who have had them resurfaced have it return significantly faster than it took too see it the first time then that might be a sign of this.

Yup! Although, there's no need to replace the pads either if you simply avoid the conditions that cause the deposits to forum.

I don't think anybody knows exactly what those conditions are. I don't drive hard and I got them.
