Stinger vs public opinion

It goes far beyond personal taste....how you could determine anything else is beyond me....all OEM badges remain or there's other issues involved....mine (KIA words) were affixed to my car for the country that it was delivered, all other badging not OEM....only included are those placed on vehicles as designated by the manufacturer....we only buy what KIA produced and designed for that car....

And that is ENOUGH. Have a true distaste for posts that run on....and on....and on....ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S BELIEVED THAT REPEATED CAPITALIZATION EFFECTS TRUTH.

Making use of forum's "ignore" function....Engage.

The name of the car? Oh ,that's right.....how are you or the maker to determine modifications to what I've purchased? You have lost your mind thinking along those lines

He’s got that “my team” fixation I think. Like for some reason we owe Kia some sort of brand loyalty or an obligation to be a “Kia booster”. See it all the time now. Sports, politics and things people buy. It’s all about their “team” identity. Sad really that their personal worth is so tied up in their “teams”.

I love KIA ! What they'd, the direction they're going......excited about being in early with a Brand swinging up..... but to make that kind of statement .....smh

I like Kia as well and love this car, which is why’s i bought it. But I’ve bought Fords, Chevy’s, Nissan’s, Acura and Toyota’s in the past because they had a great vehicle I wanted at the time and enjoyed while I had it. I’m a stinger fan, I’ll probably never buy a Rio or Sorento just because I bought a Stinger.

If I announce that I've taken the "K" skins off my front and rear OEM KIA badges, will @19GT-AWD unblock me? How would he know that I have rejoined the "team" if I am unseen?

I actually ended up leasing a Niro hybrid right after getting my Stinger, originally to spare the Stinger from bad weather and excessive mileage. It's turned into our workhorse with 17k miles after 6 months, since my wife actually prefers it to her XC40 as well.

So at least in my case, Kia's Stinger branding and sales strategy has worked perfectly.

How many miles do you have on your Silky Silver GT1 now? Just curious, since you just said that you're sparing her from "excessive mileage" (and bad weather). :D

Stinger is approaching 11k already... 3k of that was within the first month or so when it started out as my DD last December.

Then it got sprayed by a salt truck on the highway one unlucky evening - no more Stinger trips with even a hint of bad weather after that. The Niro took over all the bad weather, cold start short trip, and dangerous cargo duties this year. Handles the beatings like a champ all the while getting 50MPG.

You're in the middle of your working life. So I can understand completely the differences between a DD and a Fun car. Being retired, I have no need of a daily driver. But, in winter, I do miss my van now. But also, I do not want three cars for the two of us. So I just make sure I get to an under body spray car wash each time the weather makes the roads wet again. Around here, even after a beater of a snow storm, the roads are plowed off within a day (main arteries) and 95% dried out the following afternoon. So often, I can avoid the saline solution entirely just by driving only when the roads are dry. Last winter was typical of how it's going to be: four good sized snow storms, a dozen or more light snow or rain storms, making the roads and their saline wet all over again. Of course, one of those is gone in minutes and the roads are dry again within a couple of hours. Judicious timing makes the difference between driving dry or having to make another trip to the car wash to get the underside sprayed out.:)

I swapped the rear badge to the script immediately when I bought the car 14 months ago. I had the oem badge on the front for the past 14 months until I swapped it tonight for the E badge. I did it because it makes me feel like a big man, impresses high school kids and because I'm trying to join a country club and I want them to think I'm rich.

You sound rich... application form in the mail, we'de be happy to have you.

Great parody of the wishy washy de-badging position!

Sadly though, all too accurate ...

You're sadly wrong of your assumptions and assessments of reasons for de-badging our cars......still not sure why you think you're in any position to tell us what to do with our purchases..... you , not liking the debaging process is nothing more than an opinion

Enough of the sniping at each other please. Take personal disagreements to PMs if you'd like to continue the discussion (I use the term loosely, and it's not appropriate in this thread, thanks).

All this over badges..? o_O It's not like we're out here swapping out 4-rings or 3-pointed stars onto our cars. I've seen more than my share of people with 328i's slapping M3 badges on or C250..AMGs.. Those deserve laughter and ridicule. Using either OEM Kia emblems or different versions of badges that say or imply Kia, on a Kia.. I don't see the issue.

Welp, one more person he's going to have to add to his ignore list. :laugh:

I re-badged simply because the ones I put on are WAY cooler than Kia's North American badge ;)

But it sure does confuse a lot of people and receives a lot of looks.

I re-badged simply to give Comrade Bolshevik a brain hemorrhage.
