Drag/Acceleration The Official 1/4 mile track thread.

Time to get your scissors out! ;)

I couple new records tonight from Pacific Raceways. @TorkMe moves from #10 to #4 hits a 11.711 @ 120.51 with a 1.909 60 foot, unsnipped. Looks like Tork has a good chance to take the top spot with some launch improvements - on stock wheels and tires currently.
I dropped to a 11.800 @ 116.47 with a 1.74 60 foot using the BMS Snip.

Nothing ground breaking, but its a PR for me...

12.34 @ 115 1.95 60' running map 5 with 260GT Plus. DA was somewhere around 1500.

On my first pass I ran in map 1 on 93 pump gas to try and get a baseline, but I guess I was heatsoaked because I had a terrible run...

13.3 @ 107 2.1 60'

Intake temps reading on the jb4 were 174 at the line. I'm assuming that's what did me in?

Yes 174 is terribly heat soaked. Most of the top times on the list were ~100 degrees IATs if I recall correctly.

Nice run without the snip! Looking forward to more and more people getting to the track.

Yeah the Tork 11.71 @120 unsnipped is super impressive. If he snips or does equivalent in the ECU and adds DRs he will beat the hybrid turbo car before adding WMI.
Good news for me I should get a tune update soon. He dropped almost .3 from last season with just Tune changes. I'm running a tune from late 2018.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Last night we had 3 Stingers at Pacific Raceways. Several head to head Stinger races. Tork caught some video.
I was 8 for 9 on the night including beating an M3, C6 ZO6, and 2 older drag cars, one a twin turbo v8. My last run of the night is when I spun tires and throttle cut I was facing a super charged RS4 who ran his best 11.801 to my 11.800. Would have been a epic final show down of the night but beast mode bit me. (Beast mode is the full throttle version of the brake snip. Usually I get a milder version)
Earlier in the night Tork and I where both sitting on 11.81 bests, but Tork blew out his last run and my last run blew up. Lol.

That’s excellent news! I think a big gains can be made with trans shifting improvements.

So I get that its pointless to run when I'm that hot, but I'm curious how others get around it. I was sitting in the staging line for probably 30 minutes while they cleaned the track so I turned my engine off. I realize now that I should have at least popped open my hood. I'm not new to cars, but I'm new to racing (and new to the stinger) so any pointers are appreciated.

Hey, do you have the slip for your new best run?

Water/Meth injection is the simplest/safest/full-proofest method to get that job done. Any other method isn't going to accomplish what you are looking to get done.

Yep, we can't even put ice bags on our intake manifold since it's plastic. Nitrous spray on the intercooler maybe? :D
The worst part about dragstrips is sitting. I wish you could just drive up and go but that's very unlikely.

Sorry, meant to post my and Johns slips last night along with the list update but it was late.
Here they are.

The non WMI guys are probably more like 120-135 degrees for their best runs. Above 135 or 140 my times drop off noticeably.

Popping the hood helps quite a bit, 10 degrees or more. Its also luck of the draw. If you get front of line and pop the hood and are the first or second one off after a wait you can have a fairly cool temp. But yeah nothing beats WMI or air to water intercooler.

FFP's Stinger trap record for posterity. Crap launch on this run. Once they put it all together I see low 11s. Their best trap ever on stock turbos was around 117mph IIRC.

On a burned up trans lol

Terry also note that picking up 30mph on the big end is really impressive for such a heavy car.

I noticed that removing the plastic engine cover along with popping the hood cooled the IATs the most.

A lot of the heat soak issue is a software issue more so than an actual heat issue. Warm intake temps result in timing pull even if on high octane like E85 mixtures, race gas, or WMI. The JB4's IAT spoof wire can be useful in situations like that to spoof IAT lower when you know the octane is there to support it. :)

Is the JB4 spoof wire an add-on?

Speaking of software/race gas, is there any kind of adjustment period on these cars where the ECU adapts to the fuel? When I ran it the other night I just added the gas to a nearly empty tank and got in the staging line lol

It's half of a fuel wire kit.

Normally takes a full throttle run or two for the ECU to adapt to octane changes.
