Drag/Acceleration The Official 1/4 mile track thread.

The torque converter flashes up to around 3000rpm. This is either the record setting 11.80 run or an earlier 11.9 run, not sure which log is which run. He only was able to make two runs today due to crowds and long wait times.

How much additive is that? 80?

I think there is going to be a lot of updating done on this list over the next few days. Lol

1.65 60' is very respectable for a tuned/bolt on car on REALLY heavy stock rims. I'm impressed! Unfortunately I don't think this mod will help us RWD folks unless we get some slicks lol. I will live vicariously through you AWD folks though, keep up the good work Stinger Fam!

It will help RWD as well. Launching in boost and spinning is always going to be quicker than launching and waiting for the car to get its act together with the terrible launch delay.
Also, you can mitigate spinning quite easily (assuming you have JB4):
  • Launch in 2nd gear
  • Use map 6 and modify boost by RPM (if you spin at <RPM>, decrease boost by 0.5. Rinse and repeat)

Just a totally uninformed question to Kato, and everyone - did you launch in sport mode? I understand that sport is best for throttle response, but in the slow-motion video, it seems that the rears spun before the fronts, which makes sense if it's a 20-80 (F/R) split in sport. However, doesn't that suggest with a bit MORE traction, you could do even better? As in, custom mode with everything sport except "comfort" AWD setting (50-50 or 40-60? split) would be able to put a bit more power down to the front, so you'd have a bit more overall traction and let you launch even a bit harder?

Great point. However he would still spin, as the tires are not the right compound for this type of application and the factory wheels are too narrow.

I agree that the custom mode will/might get better traction, but some changes need to be done primarily to tires, suspension and perhaps wheels, to achieve a better launch.

shhhesh with a 2800DA can you imagine having a much lower DA. I dont think theres a questions on who has the Quickest Kia stinger.

Looks like JB4 again holds the Fastest and Quickest Kia Stingers... CONGRATS Terry!

For the RWD cars 2nd gear launches can be explored but the real difference maker for RWD is going to be those cars willing to add drag tires. With traction the RWD should have the edge over AWD at the track due to it's lower weight and lower drivetrain losses.

Let's see who the first person is to snap an axle. Or, the first person to swap base model brakes on in the rear to run a 15" w/ slicks

Reminds me of my Mustang days lol.

Burger gets credit for the wire cut brake mod. With out that its a 12.0 car. Now we just see who wants to up the anti and go for it. But I see 4 AWDs that should move above Kato if they want it bad enough to cut the wire! :)

When that DA drops Kato is low 11.7s and others may hit high 11.5s
