Burger Tuning JB4 for Kia Stinger!

So, xot1 - Wagner FMIC? Thumbs up? Waiting for the US revision.. Well, and I have to decide to keep the car instead of returning it at the end of the lease..

Is anyone running a JB4 on top of an ECU tune? I haven't seen anything about someone doing so on a Stinger as far as I can tell.

At least 30-40 Stinger customers I know of. Not many are active on this forum though. It's more popular in Korea where there are more flash tuners.

Hey Terry@BMS, if one were trying to adjust Map 6 with custom values to maximize output for octane (basically trying to achieve ideal IGN advance by adding boost until it hits a maximized point and starts dropping), does this happen actively when running the car hard, or does it take "x" amount of runs before a relearn and adjustment is complete?

Unless the tuning situation is really unique (e.g. our maps are too powerful and you need weaker ones) I've found the preset maps to be better than doing custom map6, in most cases.

Ok. I was looking back at Map 1 logs and thinking about my Map 2 logs and I consistently saw higher ignition advance on Map 1 (+5 higher advance on all cylinders typically on the same gas and similar IAT), but the butt dyno, boost values and JB4 0-60 usually says Map 2 is actually faster. I didn't know if something in the middle would have maximized anything further. I'm one of the "representatives" of the Canadian gas debacle, so just trying to see what works the very best considering no access to E85.

BMS is still working on a "learning" map for a future update? That might give the best performance and peace of mind for those of us questioning our gasoline's potential.

Autotuning map is definitely in the cards down the road, yes.

If you have a limited octane situation then that's a good situation where you might find map6 useful. e.g., not a lot of you.

Just experiment with values between map1 and map2 via map6 and evaluate.

Do the intakes really add that much more power in Map2? The engine is looking for that much more air at 18psi?

How many had run map3 with no ethanol?

Good gains even on map 2...

Yes the engine does benefit from more air (even without a tune & only 12psi-bottom two dynos), but it’s more that the stock airboxes are one of the biggest restrictions on our engines.

Intakes easily add up to 28whp peak and up to 44whp near redline.

The 44whp@6100rpm above was just gains from the intakes themselves, but think removing the exhaust restrictions too helped the intakes even more.:D

And many people run map3 with just 93 and octane boosters like Boostane. And even heard that a few people successfully run on high quality 93 like the new Mobil Synergy Supreme.

What octane level do you need with Boostane? Looking at their mixing chart using the pro 116 oct stuff.

96 octane minimum with map3 which is about 3oz of Boostane. You can get 10 tankfuls out of 1 bottle of the professional. That’s only about $3/tank:thumbup:

Ok- i was daring and tried map3 yesterday with only Oct 93 from Costco. No adverse effects or pinging and car runs like a charm. I heard boostane is not great to run everyday as it can be corrosive.

Made an interesting Stinger discovery today. Cutting the brake signal wire to the ECU lets you power brake the car and do awesome burn outs.

So far no negative effects noted other than start/stop not working! Exploring the option to have the JB4 intermittently cut the signal off the signal once we have a better feeling for the effects and whether it allows the AWD cars to launch harder.

If anyone is interested in helping test it out email me! Requires cutting 1 ECU wire which you can splice back together later, so definitely for the more advanced crowd who understands what is involved.

Can the wire be tapped like the fuel wires? Or completely cut? Will be really interesting to see what this will do for awd. I would love to try but I can’t bring myself to cut any wires.

Requires a complete cut. And likely a splice later in to the JB4

Awesome, definitely interested for RWD and drag radials.

Ready to do it once you enable the control via the JB4.

Were you able to build boost?
