Well done, your the first member to actually post a vid with them working! You get a star for that! This thread inspired me to do my own subwoofer test, since I too am just a little disappointed in the HK. I placed a 5 on the woofer and it definitely seems to be working:
I guess your married right? Yes I remember the old days... when a $5 notes got you a lot of fun.Whats that ??![]()
Yup , Vancouver was infamous for its " Dancing Ladies "I guess your married right? Yes I remember the old days... when a $5 notes got you a lot of fun.
I hope the guy who used war and peace novel would post the video![]()

Thanks for posting this. You mentioned having the volume on 25 at YouTube. What percentage of total volume is that?
I plan to buy the base GT (9 speaker system) and will add a JL audio 10 inch Powerwedge+ powered sealed 10 that should round out the system. Has anyone tried an aftermarket solution?
How do you expect "fixing " something that isnt broken ?I confirmed today with Kia that per the engineer the subs are up to spec. He seemed to suggest they may look into it more but the case on my Stinger is closed. If enough people contact Kia consumer affairs and complain to the dealer, there is a better chance of a fix.

Instead of “fix” insert “doing something to increase the output of the subs.” Canadian sassery right there.
Ok , give it try and see what they'll do for you , cant hurt . Its always dissapointing to buy something that doesnt meet expectations.Sorry my language wasn’t 100% precise in an online forum. You’ve never heard of an auto manufacturer improving design? You may also get a free service plan by noting your displeasure...
At less than half volume, CO-bound's subwoofer seems to be working okay. Probably fine. I think the issue is that some people aren't getting ANY air flow at all from the sub. In that case, there would be an issue. We still need to get more details but I think what's happening here is:
- Some people's under-seat subwoofers aren't working at all
- Some people's under-seat subwoofers are working fine
- Some people would just like more power out of their already working under-seat subwoofers
quick break in tip : Play the new Drake album at 40 for an hour .....................upside - your subs will be great downside - every bolt in the car will be loose !!! ( as per my 16 yr old audio geek son ! )Now some of you guys might find this interesting.
Now I have subs in my home theatre, Hi-Fi Audi System (music) an of course in my STINGER GT.
My Subs seem to be dead too in the beginning, but from my experience, I played various songs, music including classical with a lot of bass. Various instruments with bass! Cello, Bass guitar, Drum and so on.
Made a list of these and Played for weeks on end.
now....At home I do not adjust Bass & Treble or the Mid for that matter.
I play music like it was recorded with no additional enhancements.
Records,(vinyl) and CDs.
in the car, 320Kbits MP3 and Flac. - You've really got to be sure you have a great recording, even if it says 320kbits MP3..(not going into detail but you can check out various online infos about this.)
Ok, now in January the sound from the sub is awesome, unbelievable after a Break -in period.
Yes, you need to BREAK -IN the Subs.
The settings in the car I have are:
BASS +5
Mid +3
TREBLE +6
Volume 35 (luv it when I am by myself in the car!)
Try download the 2001 Space Odyssey Track in full 320Kbit Mp3 and play it on Volume level 35 with the above settings..
Few other tracks:
(AWESOME) Play it loud!!
If you like these try Searching for MASTER CHIC remixes!!!
Once you have played these or any of your bass tracks, you'll see/hear how the sound is in the STINGER GT!
Oh beware some recordings peak in the reds above 95db NOT GOOD. make sure it is less. once you have an mp3 @320kbit , take it MP3 GAIN and adjust the peak levels.. You'll love it.
Enjoy, mine are perfect for me, yes the subs need a break in.
