• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Stinger arriving soon, questions.

I have to say, the Stingers are not moving as fast as dealers would like so they will try to offload old stock they are holding. Also end the financial year is coming up and no one wants last years model. Do not take any BS from these guys. Tell them you want to order a car from the factory to be delivered within 4 weeks direct to dealership. You have the cash and they want the sale so use it to your advantage otherwise walk and go somewhere else. I have been caught like this before so I’m very wary of dodgy dealerships. If it’s from the factory you would expect a build date of May at best if you ordered now. You are buying a new car, compliance has nothing to do with it, if the build date is within the last month or so then it’s new, nothing less.

Yer I reckon I have been stiffed. Will call the dealer tomorrow, then depending on the outcome, might call a few competing dealers, tell them I'm over the BS sales stuff, give me best driveaway price, if not great, I'll keep looking.

If anyone has had a fantastic deal in Victoria, I'd been keen to hear about it!

If you ask for a brand spanking new car I would imagine you're not going to get much of a discount. It's all relevant, the prices you've been quoted reflect a car that's been sitting somewhere.

I don't have any issues buying the current model that's not just stepped off a boat. I'd want extras, good value and a mark and scratch free car. That just my opinion.

I like my price which is $59,000, they are sourcing it new, going to have bimodal and GT matts and like I mentioned earlier someone I know went to same place and got $57,800 for an Aurora Back on the floor.

Yes a bit odd now you mention it. That says, apparently (according to my invoice) it has a compliance date of May 19. Still a 5 month gap from production date of 02/11/18 to then. I am about to email the dealership for a please explain. As mentioned earlier, when I said yes to the deal and asked if I can pick it up in a few days, he said not in stock for another 10 days. When I asked him the how do you say it has "probably" less than 10km on it and still in plastic is it in stock... he said it's on the way and anything still coming in transit is classed as "in stock". Then invoice came, and said 20th June approx (invoice generated on June 3, so another 17 days beyond that!)

I did a search on Vic Roads site for VIN/engine #, nothing comes up, it's no registered as yet.

Maybe I will ask for my $1000 deposit back citing dubious discussions with the person in question in terms of blown out dates of delivery his version of "in stock", saying will take 2 days to fit the bi-modal (dealer is Southland Kia in Cheltenham). I'm really worried/stressed by this now.
2 days to fit exhaust !!!!...i was told by 2 different places about 3-4hrs..guy from dealer i'm getting from has it down pat or so they tell me !

We emailed and went to a couple of dealerships, not any, except the one I'm dealing with will go under $61,000

Hey Waz,

I’ll PM you mate - give you some info on what I got!

Cheers - Dredd

@Wazz, are you prepared to travel into Melbourne ? I know someone who bought a Stinger off the floor, it was build 19 My19 with Bimodal and GT matts for $57,800. There's red and blue at this dealership on the floor
You sure that wasn't MY19 compliance..as thats doesn't seem right to me not with $2600 of mufflers...i spent mths researching checking prices all around Aus and nowhere could i find that..$61800 was a consistent offering...tell him to check build date on plaque..

Build date is definitely 19, the first car was Jan 19 but now they are sourcing a newer one for me and as I mentioned some dealers have dropped the price of Bimodal's. We have it on paperwork.

They have to rip the dash out to fit apparently so a day is more likely.

$56,300 drive away for me but as mentioned earlier 2018 MY19 not 2019 but will have bimodal and GT Mats. Silver, not my choice, in fact had no choice. Had a look at carsales and found 3 examples of "new" 2018 MY19 built between August and October, all Silver, all around the $59k mark. Clearly KIA had excess stock of silver to flog off to dealers! Those are in stock, unsure why mine will take 20 days to arrive!!! That had better be answered by the sales dude tomorrow. May still purchase it and not ask for deposit back as still an ok deal.

I was told elsewhere a few hours but also up to two days, so I'll take your word and average it out to a day :)

20 days something smells fishy. I wonder if there is some damage being fixed?

Doesn't surprise me at all.

I emailed KIA head office last night got a reply at 9.30am saying "got your message but nothing in the description, please resend".... seriously? I replied back 5 mins later - 5 hours later nothing back from them. Thought given their email and my reply they were onto it straight away but clearly not and probably filed in their "who cares?" folder. Am about to deal with the Dealership directly and ask a few questions - that said, a Dealer Principal from another yard emailed me re a query I had on another one and his email in part, "...
Ok , I have heard of a few people who have had trouble with some 2018 plated GT’s Most of the cars are in KIA HQ stock not dealers , some dealers have taken them but I would think the dealer has gotten the vehicle from pool stock for you. There are some wholesale bonuses on the 2018 build cars from Kia Aust..."

Emailing Kia usually has little effect especially if it’s the Australian head office. Don’t hold your breath. Don’t trust any dealers, trust your gut.

I’d be careful with KIA HQ stock, they could have been demo/journo/track day cars...just saying, I could be wrong.

They are useless, phone monkeys just working 9-5 with little or no care factor. I will phone them tomorrow and get right into them so they can't hide behind a keyboard (useless should be kia-board).

Sales bloke told me around 10km on clock, so if any more, I am walking (if I haven't already). Every dealer I have ever had the misfortune to deal with has shafted me one way or another. They have the unique skill of shoving a baseball back up ya bum and making you feel better for the experience.

Yep, they are only there to get monthly sales, who gives a stuff about the customer & the experience of buying a new car....car salesman don’t.

You must be excited, although my sphincter muscle clenched seeing that dash in pieces, glad I didn’t do bi-modal.
FWIW you should be very happy with the end result, enjoy....
