K8 teases us for 6 months in another thread... then announced it was available not that long ago in the same thread. Does look intriguing. But I think it still isn’t cellular/app optioned.

Looks like a bunch of features I already have or couldn't care less about and for $300 LOL there are better mod's

I would get it for 1 feature: the remote start that doesn't require a restart of the engine when you get in nor a second FOB. I would actually NOT want the car to unlock itself when I got close nor would I want the hazards to come on every time I put the car in reverse. If I could disable and enable features whenever I wanted then maybe. After I get an IC, Eibach pro+ kit, frame collars, wheels, and paint protector, if there is any money left after dropping 10k on other mods, then maybe. Ask me in 5 years.

This unit is more than a remote start. You can actually use it for a turbo timer, have a drive off feature, open and close the windows/roof and more. Still cheaper than factory remote start by $150.

Does this work in conjunction with the factory remote start, as a way to give better control over it or as a stand alone remote start?

And are their options to disable unwanted features (reverse hazzards)?

You can turn all of those off.

I really want to do this but I already paid $300 for the factory system... anyone want it? I'll cut you a great deal :)

Yes lower price than factory remote start. Now examine the install and wiring diagram, very complex install and probably expensive labor to install.

Meh. You only have to install once.

I'm down. Was going to get the factory remote start but hated that it didn't have a takeover option. Was looking through the install instructions and while yes its pretty involved, I don't see why you couldn't use the positaps like on the JB4 fuel wires for most of the connections. There are a couple that you actually have to cut and place relays/resistors inline but most are just tap connections.

Does this have takeover? I didn't see that mentioned when I read through it.

Has anyone read through all the instructions?

The Wiring Diagram and the Test and Setup files don’t seem to match. The wiring diagram has 15 wires plus a relay and some other relay type thing. However the Test and Setup file only says to connect 8 wires. All this is excluding the sunroof wires.

Am I just reading this wrong?

Hope you guys have good expertise at diagnosing electrical issues if this causes any. People worry about voiding warranties from intakes, but at least they are easily removable if need be most of the time. This install required some electrical surgery and could be fraught with problems. Good luck on getting work done on electrical issues if this much surgery has been done to the wiring on these systems. Risk involved.

I have been reading through them extensively. I have observed the same thing in that the test and setup procedures seem to be an incomplete document. Not even sure what images it is referencing. The wiring diagram is obviously from a Korean source as there is still some Korean left over in the middle. Those are wire colors by the way. White and brown to correspond with the color of the square around the connector pins.

They have this product in the K5 Optima forums where several members have installed it. There are better forum member made instructions there for the Optima.

The wiring diagram shows only like 4 wires leaving the passenger footwell area other than the sunroof control wires (Which I am not sure is worth the effort honestly). I ordered it and will be doing the install myself in phases. My biggest worry at this point is being patient with the panels since the car is so new. I need to install my dash cam too so maybe I will be doing the sunroof wires at the same time. We shall see. I will try to take alot of detailed pics as I do the install and post my story but it will be a while.

It’s obvious the instructions are adapted from another set but don’t slap K8STINGER on the page if it’s not for the Stinger.

I agree they have some fixing of the instructions to do for sure. In looking at the wiring diagram for the Optima the the connectors and wiring diagram is different. It does feel a bit half ass though all around. Would love to see the original Korean instructions and hit it with a little Google translate.

This has just been released on the K8 Store for $299.95. Has anyone installed this? I'm curious how difficult it is to install as the instructions seem vague.

Just got mine. It will be a couple weeks before I go through the install but will let you guys know how it goes.
