• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Australia-Specific Kia Stinger Discussion

My hubby was thinking I'm going " a bit OT wanting PPF and protektiv " we talked more and now he's caved in :D so did some research and @AV8R Suntek seem to be the way to go, their films have a ceramic coating in it so you can still apply a product like protekiv for added security but not necessary .
After rebadging, does anyone know how long you should wait before doing PPF ? like I'm thinking the adhesive will need time to cement in properly won't it ?
With PPF its best to wait a month or so as the paint needs to get rid of any gases it still may have. They call it curing the paint and normally takes 60 days from build date. As your paintwork will need to be prepped to take the PPF i would hold off until then on PPF but you can get the rest of the car ceramic coated. I presume the PPF is only for bumper and bonnet?

Ok, that's good. Does anyone have an car Alarm installed ? do you think it's worthwhile ?
No , the one thats in the car is ok. You may want to look at a GPS tracker. They cost about $350 plus a monthly monitoring fee. I can give you some info from the guy from Mactrack if you want. He owns the red Stinger that has had all the mods done on it.
The tracker is small , has its own battery which lasts a year and is easily hidden.

Hey ladies and gents,

I've come across a nice deal for a used 2019 Stinger. 3xxx km's and am wondering what I should keep my eye out for?
Is there a way to check how many times its been launched?
I'm told the car was bought back after a business partnership went wrong.
Can anyone give some tips and advice?
If its a demo its been thrashed i bet.

Nope not a demo. Wouldn’t buy a demo.

Genuine trade in.
I'd say squeeze them. The car has barely been run in, nearly new.

Dealers are knocking off 6000 off the retail price of new cars at the moment due slow sales. If your car has 3000 kms on it I would be pushing for another 4-5000 off so mid to low 50s If it is a 2018 build even more. Sounds like it was a dealers drive car, if its a trade in you have to ask yourself why it was traded in with such low kms. Did it have an accident?
Personally i would buy new as the deals are still very good.

I doubt you’ll ever know how many times it’s been launched. The only way to check would be for a Kia mechanic to run a diagnostic on the onboard computer, that’s assuming it stores that sort of data and they’re prepared to tell you which they probably won’t.

As for what to keep an eye out for it’s the same as buying any other car, panel damage, rattles/knocks, have a look at the undercarriage see if it’s scrapped etc. Make sure it’s an actual 2019, look for the build date which is under the bonnet, and the inclusions, interior ambient lighting, stainless steel scuff plates in the boot, bezel less screen in the front, Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres.

It might have been flogged, it might not have been, you’ll never really know.

If the deal offered suits you and your budget then do what makes you happy, whether it’s new or used as always when buying a car or anything really, caveat emptor (buyer beware)

Complete waste of money especially when you have to pay a monthly monitoring fee. It has an alarm and an immobilizer built in, that’s sufficient.

She’ll no doubt have comprehensive insurance on it which will cover it should it ever be stolen. They can’t steal the car without the key.

If it is stolen pray to god they write it off in a prang or torch it because you won’t want it back after some shitbag has flogged the guts out of it, especially if they engage the police in a pursuit and it gets road spiked.

A GPS tracker will only tell you where they dump it, the rest of the time you’re paying some company your hard earned to tell you what you already know (where your car is). They may be good for fleet vehicles but not worth it for a personal vehicle.

@Flameangel don’t waste your money.

My iPhone seems knows where my car is.

Is the dealership doing the rebadging for you? They’ll apply the protektiv before delivery, so ideally would be better to get the PPF applied before the protektiv, but may not be possible if you’re looking at after market PPF. The protektiv gives it a hydrophobic coating and makes it easier to wipe off bird shit etc, so ideally you want it to be the top coat. They could reapply it to the areas you get the PPF fitted to, but it’ll cost you for the respray. If you are going to get PPF try not to drive it much beforehand or see if they can do it before delivery. I got rock chips within the first week or two of having mine, you don’t want that happening before you get the PPF applied.

Really??? How so? Mine’s in the driveway but my iPhone didn’t know that :p
It’s in the widgets under Google Traffic seems to know where my cars is located & traffic conditions in my general location.

Most days when I get to work my phone will tell me my car is parked 20 metres from me, I’m old so don’t ask me how it knows but it does....lol

Oh ok, I’ve never used google traffic. Do you run it through CarPlay or just on the phone by itself? Wondering how it links in with the car or if it’s guessing where the car is and assuming it’s in the same spot as your phone.
