• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Access to "engineering mode"

I can confirm that in the US with 12.5, the: Setup=>System Info - tap 10 times on the bottom of the vertical bar and once on the right lower corner does get me into the Engineering Mode, with several screens of stuff. I don't have time at the moment to fully explore it, but about 40% - 50% is in Korean characters, which I don't read very well (at all). But some of it is likely useful. I'll explore more another time.

I’m still trying to master email. No way I’m touching this. But more power to you guys that know what you’re doing.

Lol..I hear you @OliverNuther I certainly won't be poking around too deep in the infotainment system, it's enough deciding on mods and what badges to put on the car

Ok so for the Aussie Stinger owners - my car is up to date with it's firmware and map versions etc. The process I described in the first post definitely works - screen saver settings, 7 taps, enter time as the passcode.
Our AV system is different to the US, so it seems we have different options available in engineering mode... there are lots of various screens and buttons but here are some images I just took of a few of the screens I found:

I looks like your AVN unit is setup just like the videos I've seen. The US is much difference, and not really user friendly. Everything is worded in a way that you aren't sure what it actually does!

Are there any vehicle settings you can toy with? Steering mode, etc?

At least I don’t seen any Korean

Alright, I got into Engineering Mode/Dev Mode. There are endless menus to sift through

System Settings>System Info: TAP 10 times quickly, where the vertical line hits the bottom of the screen and then tap once on the lower far right of the screen.

You need to be careful, it's not a forgiving system. It's very "engineer" like and is not user friendly. Tap once, and wait...you do not want to tap and then tap again, it might load the screen and you change something. This Dev mode is hard to navigate and seems like a few booby traps are in the system, there is no simply reset here. Surf with great care

There are some menus that do not have back buttons, so you have to press the little reset button to reset the AVN.

There are a few locked menus, however I believe there is another way to get into those. Camera settings, radio and a few other things you can change. I have not changed anything, simply since I don't know what the outcome will be. There's alot of Korean language (see below). The most interesting menu is "Vehicle Settings" which is locked, won't load. I'm not sure if that menu is locked permanently, or you need the KIA computer hooked up to the vehicle. I will continue to poke around. I'm betting that is where the drive modes, and other dynamic settings are located.

Download Google Translate so you can read some of the menu items...I'm not going to "root" mine, I don't need YouTube or games on it. I am more curious about adding/adjusting things in the vehicle.

This is great info actually.

Just out of curiosity, how did you figure this out / where did you get this information? The "10 taps" is actually how you get to developer mode on most android devices, but the tapping in the lower right corner...

That's a good question, and to be honest, I see a lot of references to Android that don't refer to Android Auto in Engineering Mode, I'm curious if they're literally running Android here...

I am somewhat familiar with the touch points on the AVN units Kia has. I used to work for them. There are only a handful of menus with "touch points" like this. I figured it was either 5, 10, or 12 taps and a corner. Took me about 10 minutes to sort it out.

It appears some of the AVN's are setup like Android tablets running a specific software but can he hacked and have a typical "tablet" interface.

My GT2 is more of a KIA software, not much reference to Android unlike many videos

I'm seeing the same as you, I'll see if I can find the screens that show the Android references

just a good ol follow dot passing through .

Let us know if you guys break it lol :D
Maybe a list of function for each menu selection could be listed?

I'm pretty positive that the actual head unit is running on a heavily modified Android Marshmallow. I poked around on the (unencrypted) portions of the SD card update.

For toggleable options disable rcam set to off disables speakers so far as I can tell. I don't know what MTC, RHD, or ADM do. Enabling MTC and RHD seem to do nothing.

RHD..right hand drive ‍♂️

I found a couple of settings for reverse camera calibration, but they didn't actually have an act as far as I can tell, but probably requires some other secret commands while the camera is operating
