How to launch on boost

I tried it. Didn't really work. It could if you had a really really strong E brake. Mine engages reliably, no initial roll, but it just starts slipping way too soon like 1500 RPM and still in negative boost despite the spooling sounds.

RWD car checking in:

Going to try this. I’ve yet to take my drag radials off due to weather, but it’s nice and sunny today. Also, there will be some traffic in Mexico later that I may invite myself to if this works well.

I’ll post my draggy results later once I find a spot for a few hits.
Great to hear and look forward to your results. Also what drag radials are you running? I was considering getting some too, but leaning towards the Nitto NT05s as they seem to be the best compromise of traction & wear for a DD.

Yeah that's the thing, sometimes it locks and loads, if your running in Mexico, it work wonders tho! I'll take some vids of mine tonight

Et street S/S. It’s too much tire though on my stock wheels (285). Gets a wobble after 70. They are sticky from a dig though. On a 9.5-10 wide wheel it would be fine though.

Jesus you're running a 285 on a stock wheel? I have a 295 on a 10" wheel and I think it's a little too wide, probably should have gone 275.

Was the only option for the tire, besides, anything for a dig lol. You’re fine on your 295. 275 would stretch on a 10”.

Good to know. I was considering trying 275 on stock rims but everything I read says 255-265 MAX on 8.5" rims. Do you think its those tires causing the wobble specifically or the 285 is just too wide for stock 8.5"s?

285 is too wide for the stock wheel. Too much sidewall so that causes the float. It’s a sleeper look, but you sacrifice a lot and have to know how to control the car.

I would guess even 275 on stock rims may be too wide as well. Thats a shame because the NT05's jump from 255 to 275 and the next best option would be the NT555 G2s. They at least come in 265 width, but still think the NT05s would be better for digs even at the 255 width. Wish I could test different tires until I found the best option but appreciate the feedback.

Looks like we can build around 5psi

@Terry@BMS is this safe? Lol

so when i tried this, it didn't work and did what @Tonkabob said, crept forward. BUT, one time I was able to fully engage and get it to 2500 (by accident) and the take dig was violent. I don't know what I did different, I'll have to keep playing, and I didn't stay in it because I didn't have the road for it. I do hold hope for a serious solution for this because it would help me immensely on my DR's.

Have you driven in the wet with the DRs yet? If so how did they behave?

Do you mind PMing me your email? I'd like to send you a video of me wrecking a turbo AWD Camaro on radials off the line on the 1/8 using this method and the accompanying best timeslip for you to post here... unfortunately I'm too new to post a link of any kind... I figured out relatively how to do it but will be trying a few other things today to pinpoint it..

Wire in a brake pedal bypass switch, then you can just hold your brakes and floor the gas. The car won't know you're on the brakes so it won't cut throttle

You have a tutorial for that? That would come in handy for brake boosting during roll racing.

Camaro run

Civic run on brake boost

I’d be interested in seeing the inside to figure out how to accurately pull this off regularly.

I just tried this a little bit ago, first time car just pulled through the brakes. 2nd time it held the car and it launched around 2800 but since it is wet out i let off after it started getting squirrely at 25ish mph. My car is awd, k&n, and jb4 map 2. Definately will try again on a dry day.
