Interesting Discoveries Thread (Good or Bad)

Just noticed the “Torque” gauge drops about 15-20tq at idle when turning the A/C off!

Is that even possible? I know increasing efficiency helps make more HP, but didn’t think it would actually reduce TQ.o_O

Does this mean with the A/C on our initial torque at throttle tip-in may be slightly better?

A few times when sitting at a light and my auto start kicks back on I see an error message pop up on the gauge cluster screen for a split second. Anyone know what that is?

I've never noticed an error but the "A" indicator light does flash when mine turns back on at a light. Normally I feel the cabin getting warm so I assumed it turned back on to help cool the cabin back down to 74 where I normally have it set. Since I'm in Florida it's AWLAYS hot here.

Not sure about those in "America" but our Stingers in Canada have neither a boot nor a truck. Ours are actually equipped with a hatch. So here in Canada us Canadians can be seen "popping the hatch" to retrieve our stuff in the back. Depending on the time of year you will notice the Canadain male most likely will pull out a set of golf clubs or a large rectangular shaped canvas bag containing hockey equipment and a couple "hockey sticks". Yes we are a strange bunch here, particularly on the Wet Coast.

Actually, maybe it's just me but I've always called what we have on the stinger a hatch and we pop the hatch. A trunk aka boot is something fully enclosed.

Yeah, I've never called my hatch a trunk: hatch was a selling feature and I always point it out.

What doth said error say? Relevant if you’d like us to translate...

Sorry I should have been more in depth. It comes on for a split second and i'm unable to see what it says.

Gotcha, that may be what it is. Glad to know it's nothing i should be concerned about.

2 months with the car and I never noticed the multiple circular ridges in the center of the speedo and tachometer until the sunlight hit it directly. :D

Interesting Aussie GTs have ‘Turbo’ instead of ‘Boost’ in the centre gauge display. Dunno why they used Turbo (bit like the engine cover I suppose!)

Do you have a 2019? My 2018 has
Oil Temp
Torque
Boost
I haven’t seen Turbo mentioned anywhere on my gauges

Another think I discovered if the car in front of you is too close the car gives you on the heads up display warning sign in red of imminent collision, cool feature.
Yep, a car cut an SUV off in front of me, warning came on then it applied the brakes.

Anyone noticed that the car sometimes doesn't recognise you walking up to it when locked (ie puddle light doesn't come on and mirror fold out)?
Yes, occasionally but I'm yet to determine why.

Can you post a pic please.

Did your brakes make a horrible grinding sound when they activated? I’ve had AEB kick in twice and both times it made an awful grinding sound as it applied them, something that I’ve never heard any time I’ve applied the brakes myself. The first time it did it, it over reacted to a pedestrian it thought I was going to hit even though I was steering around them. It made a horrible grinding noise and I actually thought I’d hit the edge of a traffic island that I was near and got out to check I hadn’t damaged the skirts. It did it again recently when someone stopped suddenly in front of me and decided to turn at the last minute. I was able to steer around them but it sounded horrible. Sounded louder on the front left and felt like that brake pulled harder then the others too.

Mines kicked in a couple of times and sounds exactly the same. Pretty sure it’s normal. I remember hearing a similar sound from my Commodore when braking extremely hard. Something to do with the ABS and the brakes cycling on and off to avoid locking up I believe?

Mine is MY19 June 2018 Build and it says 'Turbo'
That’s an interesting subtle difference, I wonder why.
Any chance of a photo.
