About to take the plunge..push me or hold me back

Some cars that keep being compared to this aren't really good comparisons. Some are front wheel drive, some are only available RWD, some dont have a hatch or AWD available. Most don't have the speed or as many bells and whistles safety and tech wise.

The beauty of this car is how it checks off so many boxes at the cost it does while looking great, not having many out there, and the warranty you get with it.

I didn't call it cheap, I said it is in a category above cheap, but not luxury like the other cars I listed. You have disposable car category, then cheap, then somewhere between like middle class, then class leading...luxury. dont twist my words up. And , I actually think the Optima is underrated actually. And if an Optima is priced around $35,000 before taxes, title, tags, dealer fees...than the stinger is priced at that price point. After all fees, I paid $38,400 out the door for my new 2018 GT2.
I also have owend many cars, the charger / challengers are not bad cars, but they ride on an ancient chassis and the car is a boat anchor. They do not age well at all. The resale on any Chrysler product will also be pretty brutal(except the jeeps wranglers). I have driven the new chargers and they were not bad but I liked the stinger better overall.

I agree, that's why I bought it and gave it a shot. It's rare that i park a car and keep looking back at it as i walk away. The Stinger is stunning, also everyone has their own tastes down to whiskey, and socks. I would rather have the cheap interior of the Charger 392 with excellent infotainment, super plush seats, performance pages, menacing exhaust, and a 6.4 NA port injected, pushrod motor with crazy hp and Tq numbers and crazy good transmission to back it for less money.
Having said that, Parked the Stinger next to one and the Stinger made it look cheap. The 392 stim looked like a brawler, but the stinger looked like a sculpted piece of art, it looks fresh and not rushed. Would have bought another one instead of the Laramie Longhorn but they are everywhere now, who wants that. That's something I will miss about the Stinger. I've seen 2 in my area, one grey, one white. It's nice to have something people don't, and the looks you get...make you feel great.

The chassis is ancient, but it works for the Charger, I would never buy a Challenger after driving one, it's a boat. Would go Mustang GT with track pack if 2 doors. The charger actually won best resale value among sedans for 2018. I only lost $500 on mine after 4-5 months of ownership when I traded it for my Stinger. Lost $2500 after one month of ownership on the stinger on trade and got a great deal on it when I bought it. Dodge must be doing something right when it comes to the charger as it sells more and more units every year with little changes on an ancient platform instead of less and less. I can not attest to how they age as I've never kept a car longer than a year at most. Except when i was younger, at 20 I kept my 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT1 for 3 years till I paid it off. Kick myself in the butt every day for not buying a Acura Integra Type R instead at that time. Ended up selling the Pontiac after 3 years and picked up a barely used 2002 Lexus IS300 with the 2JZ inline 6. The transmission and rear wheel drive were great. Instrument cluster, sound system, interior, handling, everything was fantastic. That was one of the only cars I've owned that I regret getting rid of. Truly a great car. Bought an 07 G35s 6mt years later and I still would liked the is300 better. Traded the G35 in on a Mazda Speed3 in 08'. It was a great hatch for the price. Kind of in between the G35 and the ACR SRT4 Neon that I had. Yes, neons piece of junk, but that car was only called a neon until it beat the person calling it that, then it was only referred to an srt4 (with toys).

Actually love the outside components of the charger......taillights are similar in design with stinger and the front end is menacing.....they're commonplace here and I've never entertained dodge.....viper aside.....

Everyone should at least test drive the Charger 392. Throttle tip in is scary, brakes bite very hard, and one would be surprised at the capability in handling for its size, and wieght. I am in no way saying everyone should buy one, just drive it for 20 or so miles.

Just out of curiosity what has been your experience with reliability of Chargers? I have never owned any Dodge.

Always wanted a 1983 supra.....high school graduation year.....owned a 1991 240sx...something about the Stinger just reminds me of these ......hatchbacks I love!

The 240's are hard to come across in decent condition, highly desired still, and cost a decent penny. No one would have ever thought when they were being produced. Would like to see the Stinger be a car like that. It seems the 2 door Genesis r-spec did.

Yeah, don't want a classic but the stinger is kinda a more mature , updated version....

I test drove a Stinger today. Gorgeous machine. I wasn’t going to get the GT ,which I think is the gt2 overseas but I’m pretty well sold now. 63 k Australian dollars although I might find a demo is morethani wanted to spend....andapart from a few giggles iveread nothing in reviews or here to deter me.

Quite like the ceramic grey...not bright yellow here ...I’m wondering what other colors we are missing out on...or maybe the red

So...do i do it?

Do it! My only regret is not getting the GT2. But I’m still happy with the GT1. Enjoy if you go through with it.

I'm sure you will love it. It's cool to see someone who is steadfast and committed to a car. Says they are passionate about it, and that alone is the reason to take the plunge! You might just be sitting in it and around it for hours after you get it, maybe meded up or a beer in hand. Hehe. Once the shoulder heals, the car will provide plenty of rehab for your shoulder by washing and waxing it!

If I would have known you were passionate about the Stinger I would have never tried playing devils advocate in the first place. Lol. Thought you were just testing the waters and unsure. Stay cooler than the other side of the pillow brother!
Best post ive read all week, thankyou!

What each person can live with differs from individual to individual, but after only a month of ownership I am trading it in on a 19' Ram Larimie Longhorn. Funny it's a truck and I find it's more luxurious than the stinger inside. Wouldn't say this for prior years. In a Cadillac XTS right now for a rental to keep miles off my vehicles and love it too, feels very solid and quality inside compared to the Stinger.

Well, you took a chance on MY 18, sorry you got a bad one. I can say now after getting a '19 that the 2018 version I got had some shortcomings compared to the 2019. Being a first year caar, some things were expected and none that I couldn't live with as it was just such a fun car to drive, comfortable, fast, stable and makes me look back and smile once I get out of it. I didn't get a great a deal as I did on the end of the year deal I got on the 2018. After wrecking it and test driving a few other cars I liked, I came right back to the Stinger. Did you ever check out a 2019 for comparison? Might have solved the issues for you, but thee pricing might not have been to your liking.

Rebadging is Kia badges replaced with nicer still stinger ones.
Kia Maitland NSW.
I bought mine from there also last Aug. Great deal. 60k for MY19 with floor mats and rebadging. I didn't opt for the bimodal exhaust though.

How did they go with the rebadging?

Fine. Except I had to run up to the shops to get dental floss for them to remove the old ones as they didn't have anything there to do it at the time lol.
Haha hopefully they are all good this time. Jesse mentioned dental floss when I asked about it.

I'm just hoping it will all be straight and as centred as possible given the 2 holes in the back. Did they fill them with anything?

Not that I'm aware of no. I've had the back changed since with Stinger wording where the Smash repairers fitted it after putting on my spolier and don't think they filled the holes either. The front will be changing again this week as I'm getting my bumper resprayed after my servicing fiasco.
