Bolt on's, no tune

I can't answer the question, but you raise an interesting point. In my last car (Lexus ISF), the ECU responded really well to headers and octane with no tune. I hadn't even considered that on this car. I guess because there is so much more to be gained with a piggyback. It will be interesting to see how the car responds to bolt-ons minus a tune.
How did you like the ISF? what mods? Did you like the ISF better than the stinger? would like your personal opinion since you owned an ISF?

Btw reason I asked about the downpipes, was because i have the catless dp's from lap3 and when i dont have the protuner on, it always gives me a CEL after a day or 2

Yup the primaries have the O2 sensor that's the only one you need to worry about.

Lap3 tune problem , my guess....

We are talking about the secondary cats from the down pipes, aren't we?

No. They are taking about the primary downpipes. You're talking about the secondary midpipes.

So far I added a Cai and I'm ordering the ssr dp tonight. I plan on an ic and exhaust as well as soon as I find the right one. I wanna know what range that will put me in.
Without a tune gains will be minimal.

You may get about 10whp from CAI, 20whp from midpipes, 10whp from catback & 10whp from IC. Potentially 380whp, or about 15-20whp less than Stock Stinger with ONLY a JB4...:confused:However a chip/tune will increase all those numbers significantly and you should easily be pushing 450whp+ with full bolt-ons.
I will down the road, but i want to keep my warranty in place. I wanna only do mods that are easily reversible.
This doesn’t make much sense since all those bolt-ons are much harder to remove than a piggyback.:cautious: And unless you plan to remove all those upgrades every time you bring it for service Kia will likely document those mods and hold it against you for any related issues.
This and every other forums, The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is in fact in place but it would be really easy for a dealer to point to even a CAI and say that it caused a blown turbo. It doesn't take a lawyer to figure that out.
Very unlikely, but possible depending on the dealer. It would also be the dealers responsibility to prove it directly caused the damage. However if you really feel that way then why do bolt-on upgrades at all?

Sounds like you could save yourself a lot of time, money, and risk just getting an easily removable chip instead.

The only time my car will see the dealer is warranty or recall work. I can't hide the tune so I won't throw one on just yet.

It will be nice throwing a tune on down the road and getting a HUGE jump in power since all the supporting mods will be there.
In the mean time a little more power, lighter wheels, and a stiffer suspension will keep me occupied.

The jb4 literally take 5 min to pull out and put on fyi. Not trying to sway you. Just letting you know. Its 2 connectors.

I have cai, cat back exhaust, spark plugs gapped and jb4 with fuel wires. I plan on adding downpipes soon. Then going for a dyno. I'll disable the jb4 on the first runs then map2 jb4 on the 2nd runs. I'll report my numbers soon.

Plus running the wire through the firewall right? I got mine with blue tooth and it has the one that goes to obd2. Or do we not have to put that in and it will just run map1? I still haven’t put mine in lol

Yes you need to plug the OBD plug and run the wires thru the firewall. You also have to Install the 2 fuel wires if you got them.

I can’t remember if I did or not.
Then it is more than 2 connectors
2 connections and I leave my obd cable it can be used for a bunch if reasons like just logging what your car is doing.

Awesome and look forward to the results. Just make sure to do a few WOT runs before and after map changes so it gives the ECU time to adapt before the next dyno pull.

ISF was awesome but getting old. I had PPE headers and Borla cat-back. I LOVED the way the ISF sounded, but I love everything else about the Stinger more. Wouldn't go back, but glad I had it.

Nice I own an ISF now and your spot on the sound is amazing lol no comparison to the stinger there.... I personally like the F better but love the Stinger as well. I just hate that there is real aftermarket support for the F. And only one company has a supercharger out and can tune it.
