Not all he came to fame here in the early 70's when he won a talent show. He then had he's own tv comedy show. He was big here even before Crocodile Dundee.Genuine question.. Paul Hogan never comes up (it seems).. I grew up in South Africa and loved his show. It seems like he might have been popular outside of AUS but not so much at home?
Yeah, I'm talking long before the movies. mid 70's to mid-80's.
Inspired me to look him up, now watching an hour-long "best of" show from 1997. Good times.
Then he got a face lift which was very obviously but completly denied it, he lost a bit of cred there to. He should have just put his hand up, no one would have cared.Yeah he was massively popular here during the period you’re talking about. Unfortunately reruns of his specials have never been aired and I don’t know why. He lost a lot of female fans after Dundee came out and he divorced his then wife Noelene to take up with Linda Kozlowski. Aussie blokes didn’t really care but the women’s magazines really trashed him.

A few years back he got done for non paying of tax. Can't remember if he got off.
