What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

Also check your service items for the 10000. If brake fluid is on it youve got em cold. Its either in the manual or on the receipt for, work done.

Its brake fluid. They did it, hold your ground and get them to fix it. When done let us know the dealership and NEVER go back there. They are arses. I feel your pain. If you want another persons proof the stains were not there give them my number and i will give them a serve.
I have just finished writing an email to Kia Australia with all the information. Let's see what THEY have to say....
It wont end there if they don't help me with this.

No - they only inspected the brake fluid. They replaced the engine oil, oil filter, and injector cleaner only.

Actually, looking at what they DID do, I now see that even though the services are capped pricing, that is WAY more than I have paid at a private mechanics for similar servicing. I wont be returning.

Would also b demanding compensation. Take it to a anither mechanic and let them tell you what the stains are from. Either way the dealer did it.

I got three smash repairers to give me their assumptions - all said some sort of mechanical fluid, with brake fluid being the most likely.

I got my car serviced on Monday at Kia - Great Western Kingswood, where I waited almost 5 hours for my 10,000km service when they told me it would be 2.5 hours (and I had it booked in). After it was done, I drove home and parked it in the garage, and didn't drive it the next day. The following morning I went to get into the car and saw drips down the left bumper. No problems so I thought, so I tried to clean them off. No luck. I tried numerous products, with the same result. I was headed back to Kingswood for some other reason so I popped back into Kia and told them this stain was not there when I left home on the morning of the service (as you other Stinger owners can appreciate, I often ogle the car before I take her out, and spot clean any obvious dirt that I can see, so I KNOW this stain was NOT there when I left that morning),

Kia service team took it to their pre-sale department where they had a detailer try to remove the stain. Bad news - it had absorbed into the paintwork and the only option I now have is to get the whole front bumper resprayed!!! I told Kia that this stain was absent when I left my house, and they told me 2 of their mechanics can confirm that the stain was there when I brought it in. I was also told they tried to clean it off. When I queried this further, I was told they took before and after photos.

Ok - long story I know, so bear with me. I then drove the car to the Smash Repairers who painted and fitted my spoiler. They told me the stains look like some type of mechanical fluid (e.g. transmission, brake...) and roughly quoted me over a thousand dollars to get the whole front bumper resprayed! I, as you can imagine, was devastated! I have no problems paying that kind of money for an after marked accessory, but NOT to have my car looking exactly the same as it was a few days ago...especially when I did not cause the problem.

Upon further thought, I called back Kia and asked them to please look at the photos to confirm the stains WERE there prior to my service. It took them about 15 minutes to get back to me, where they replied "the mechanics confirmed the stains were there". I repeated my question. What did the PHOTO'S show? Well.....nothing. They showed nothing. They then told me that the photos don't pick up everything, but I told him he was the one who wanted to use photo's as proof, so he can't have it both ways.

I have since been to two other smash repairers who confirm what the first had stated - looks like mechanical fluid that has spilled. I was told this would not show an immediate stain, but after a few hours to a day it would show up.

I am now going to contact Kia Australia with this information and see what THEY have to say. I will admit....I do not know if the stain was caused by the service department, but I DO know it wasn't there 20 minutes earlier when I left home.
Well I’m very disappointed for you as I am the one who recommended you use this dealership, if the photo’s show there are no marks on the paint before they took it in to service it then there can be only one answer, this was caused in the workshop by some person or action.
Maybe also take this issue to upper management @ the dealership.

I have to buy another K badge from overseas as well, as they will need to remove the one I have on there. I am so bummed out. I will have a look at the shop on here to see if they have anything similar to what I bought, otherwise I will need to purchase from the other guys I made the original purchase with.

When u get it repainted ask them to put a few extra coats of paint on to resist chipping.

Don't be silly. YOU didn't cause the problem!
Trent said he WAS going to take this up with his manager...but that was Wed afternoon and I haven't heard anything back.

I don't know how Kia Australia works vs Kia US, but here you would need to call corporate and open a case file. I did that for a paint chip on my roof moulding, and although it was a slow slog with lots of people dropping the ball, I eventually got a new moulding (since they botched the repaint on the old one). Before I got a case number, I got no action on the issue from the dealer, but after, and ever since, they have been very attentive every time I go in.

Get up them and keep up them. The more noise you make and the more people you annoy, the more likely you are to have this resolved in your favour. Make sure they know that you aren’t going away.

Another point is if 2 mechanics noticed this why didn’t someone call you or come & see you as you were waiting & bring it to your attention & get your approval before they even tried to clean it as the do not do any additional work that’s not on the paperwork....I’m smelling a rat here, a mechanic has stuffed up & he is trying to cover it up in my opinion.

I said the EXACT same thing to Trent. He said it's not their place to talk to customers about dirt that is on the car! lol. Can you believe it???

@FitR6 when you sent me the photo my initial thought was brake fluid or similar. Most workshops these days have some CCTV for safety and security purposes. It might be worthwhile checking with GWK if they have a system in place. As for them saying they took before and after photos, I say rubbish!
Let's hope you get satisfaction from KMA.

When I initially went back to see them about this, they tried to tell me it was either tree sap or someone had thrown Coke onto my car!

That’s sort of funny, Trent sort of lectured me about the Stinger badge overlay I had on my steering wheel, my car I can do what I like with it, of course they are not going to talk to customers about a dirty car, but this is not dirt.
So I would now demand copies of the before & after photo’s which would be time & date stamped to prove otherwise.

What I also find funny is they DON'T clean the cars when they are in for service, so why would they try and clean this off if they saw it? Trent told me that they mentioned to him they saw dirt elsewhere on the car too (yeah, but they didn't try and clean any of the OTHER dirt off!)

Yes exactly - your car, your choice! He can go to hell. Your car looks AWESOME with the additions you have made.

Well you better get a positive result from GWK on this, if not I will be dropping down there myself to tell the Sales Manager that after 10 years of loyalty they will be loosing both myself & wife as customers period & I would not recommend their dealership to anyone.
