G70 out sold Kia Stinger in Korea

I initially thought that the Stinger looked better too, but the G70 grew on me and now I prefer it. Drive wise, I think it probably beats the Stinger in every way, plus you have the valet service for free. You can also use an app to remote start unlike the Stinger. Review below basically says it's better than the Stinger in every way. I guess if you need more room then the Stinger makes more sense, but I don't.

It may be a great all around albeit small car, but I can not get past the looks. Especially the front grill and the really boring side and rear profiles.

I don't sit in the back seat so don't car of it's smaller. We can say that stingers are being advertised for $5k off pretty consistently. Not sure how much Genesis dealers are going to budge. The gt2 and there g70 sport are about the same msrp.

As a younger person, I'd rather have the smaller car.

I love a hatchback. I use it for everything. To me these are 2 different class of cars. The Cadillac ATS I had was similar in size to the G70. I could never go back to a car that small unless it was my 2nd car and I already had an suv.

While I don't have kids, it's something that was a factor when buying my next car (Stinger). I could not wait for the G70, just took to long I gave up. I went and sat in a G70 this weekend, glad I did not wait. The back seats are useless when I have the seat where I need it to be. I'm 5'10", 180lbs so not a big person.

I also think the car just looks too small. I'm sure it's a blast to drive, and possibly more fun than my AWD GT2, but the interior was way to small for me.

At 6'3" I actually felt ok in it. Shocking, I know. I even sat in the back seat for an extended test drive and didn't have much to complain about. Obviously I wouldn't want to do that for a long drive but it was more than serviceable for what most people will need.

Wait, isn't that the same lady that wrote the nonsense about the Stinger?

Yeah, it is. She clearly has something against the Stinger. She has 3 anti-Stinger articles in the last few months. It's ok, though, she writes for a publication read by no one.

There is a place for both of these vehicles, they just appeal to different folks for different reasons. When I was upgrading my 525 to a planned 528, I drove a 335 and loved how that car drove and handled. I ended up with the 535 as I preferred it's size for passenger comfort and how it had similar power levels but had more comfort in the ride and handling department. I equate the G70 and Stinger to those two, even though I haven't driven the G70, since it was designed to compete with the 3 series I figure it would be similar to that. Genesis should sell a lot of those, similar to BMW.

I wonder if they use different rotors. They G70's rotors might be a good replacement for those of us with faulty parts from Kia.

I would think there should be quite a few parts that crossover

Most parts are the same. Like 99%.

Do you have access to an online database for parts to pull the brake part numbers for the G70 and Stinger? I started a post hoping to hear from folks in Korea and Europe on what their rotors and pads numbers are so we can compare if we are using the same stuff.

Yeah, the most they'll take off at this point is like 1k from what I've seen.

This is my situation. I've got a 2018 Terrain Denali so I don't plan on anyone but me riding in the G70. At first, plan was to replace my Optima with the Stinger but then it had the missing features so I decided to wait until the 2019. Got my Terrain while waiting. The G70 started to grow on me and since I don't need anything bigger anymore, I figured I'd go for the better driving dynamics. If I hadn't gotten the SUV, I would probably be about to buy a 2019 Stinger. Glad I don't have to as the service department at my local Kia has been going downhill. Taking longer to get work done and vehicle sitting there done for 30 min while the employees laugh and joke. Unfortunately, I'll be dealing with them for a while since my wife's 2018 Sorento SXL will be around for a long time. I love Kia's vehicles, the dealership, not so much.

Lol right. I had never heard of it before today.

Most parts are supplied by the company Hyundai MOBIS except maybe for the big parts (like transmission and engine) so it should be the same part numbers.

After thinking about it, maybe I spoke too fast when I said 99% of the parts are similar.
Like the brakes have different paint color so they may have a different part ID. The intercooler also is different, the springs are probably different because of the different weight of the two vehicules, and so on.
So parts share the same design but not sure about the part ID!

Yep, looking for the part ID so we can find out what is being used for the rotors and pads in the US and other parts of the world. We would appreciate it if you could add the Korean part number for the 3.3T vehicle in Korea in the thread I started under the Brakes and Suspension section. Many thanks!

We should probably wait to see if the G70 has the same issue with warped rotors?

That's why I want to know if they have the same part number.

Or hell, I even wonder if 2018 and 2019 Stingers have the same part number.
