3.3 Muffler Deletes, video inside and out

@Angelo In Seattle After I got the muffler delete yesterday, I drove around for quite some time. When driving, I noticed an insanely loud drone when driving at city speeds while giving the car a little gas. The rpm's were between 1500 and 2000 RPM's when I hear it. However, when I drove for a little this morning, I still heard the drone but it wasn't as bad. I was wondering if you experienced the same thing?

I'm considering putting the stock mufflers back on because of this. Or is there some sort of break-in period for the delete?

I didn’t do the Y, just straight on each side. In eco mode the drone is the loudest but still nowhere near annoying to me. If you keep it in comfort or sport mode its a lot less.

Just got mine done. $80 plus tax, cant complain on that lol. I was actually hoping it was going to be a little louder. Although I'm coming from a 15 Jeep SRT with almost a straight exhaust (only 2 mufflers)

The worst will be on the highway 60-65 MPH on a slight incline. Lots of long annoying drone.
Sport does help stay out of the 1500-2000 range but still hard to avoid. This car needs some sort of muffler and drone tubes unless you like it really loud.

I was thinking the same which is why I requested a video of the OP cruising from 60-70. Is it possible the Y-pipe could cause some of the drone? Angelo just did two straight pipes and the drone is almost nonexistent. You can tell it’s there but very minimal. Wonder why his isn’t as bad as others claim.o_O
Does anyone else agree Angelos has almost no drone at the usual 1500-2000 RPM?

You really can't tell from audio recordings. While not annoying, tire and wind noise create a big piece of the background noise making it harder to hear the drone in a recording but not real life. Load is huge factor. If the highway is flat or slightly down you may have no drone and on a slight incline and get lots of drone.
Then their is the honey moon factor, when i first put on my ark i didnt think it had drone but after driving in more scenarios and experiencing it for longer i did find it had some drone.
Lastly peoples tolerance for sound level and drone vary greatly.
Others reports of going mufflerless have reported drone, so much so that i decided not to even do a custom excel back with flowmaster dbx and instead hacked out my ark mufflers to keep the ark drone tubes. Probably would have been fine but that is the way i went.
I think i based this on someone doing a custom axcel back with straight through magnaflow and found it had drone.

After that a had a lot of drone from 1200RPM to 2600RPM. I went back to the muffler shop and they install a drone tube, and after that it got 90% better. You can hear a little drone between 1800RPM and 2000RPM.

The sound is not as deep as with straight pipes, but not having a lot of drone worth it.

@Hgboss Thanks for the pics. I'm headed to the muffler shop first thing tomorrow morning. I was about to call it quits and put the stock mufflers back on, but now after seeing what you've done and hearing your feedback, I'm considering adding the tubes.
I just had a quick question. In the low RPM range (in the cabin), compared to stock, how much louder is it on a scale from 1-10? if that makes sense.
Also, I'm not sure if you can recall but with the muffler delete, I notice a lot of vibrations in the cabin. Did the vibrations clear up for you as well after adding the tubes?

I almost installed back the stock mufflers after the muffler delete, but after the drone tube i changed my mind. Sounds really good and almost 0 drone.
Below 1600RPM there is absolutely 0 drone - between 1600RPM to 2000RPM there is some drone but nothing huge and little to none vibration - higher than 2000RPM there is 0 drone again.
In relation to the sound lets say stock is 0 noise and straight pipe is 10 noise the drone pipe will be 7 or 8 on the scale. I dont know if that makes sense to you.
In my case when the engine is cold there is 0 drone at all RPM range, usually on the first 5 minutes of driving early in the morning.

Would the NGM Zeta be an equivalent of muffler delete? No need to fabricate a replacement pipe if that's the case, just remove muffler and bolt on Zeta. Waiting to hear the Omega if they ever get it to production. Also keeping an eye out for the SSR Performance axle back, want to hear it before purchasing. Thought they were going to build a remote axle back so you can run it quiet or loud, haven't hear anything more about that. Same with XFORCE Varex, in the works. I want sound but not drone as I cruise the highway daily.

Where in Toronto did you get this done? My buddy and I are looking at possible doing the muffler delete, but all the mixed reviews were scaring us?

If you're close to Woodbridge or Mississauga I would love to hear this thing in person!!

I went to Noyzboyz Performance (Scarborough) .
I really like the sound of my muffler delete (considering the drone tube installed) before the drone tube the drone and vibration was unbearable.
I’m in Toronto and work in North York.

@ScottyDangles Save yourself. Like Hgboss said the vibration and drone is unbearable. Maybe it’s just me being dramatic, but I hate driving the car now. It doesn’t bring the same joy. I’m honestly putting the mufflers back on tomorrow morning. I’m not even going to take a chance with the drone tubes.

Only get the delete if you get the drone tubes like Hgboss suggested. His feedback seems promising. Me on the other hand, I enjoyed the car with the stock mufflers so I’ll be returning to them. I’m not about the loud life. I rather be a sleeper.

I honestly love how mine sounds. I never experience any drone unless cold engine, purposely hold that rpm band, or slight hill.

I would do this again, And wouldn’t even mind louder overall. Granted I came from a v8 magnaflow exhaust system on my F150 which was a beast.

Totally happy with my mod, sorry others didn’t get the same joy.

If you are up for it we would love to meet up with you and hear this thing ourselves! :) This way we know first hand if we can live with it! I commute 44km everyday on the 407 so excessive drone would be a deal breaker.

Right now other than expensive EVC options I don’t think the Stinger has any good options. The JunBL EVC is probably the best option but there are very few videos on it that seem to do it any justice.

I won’t change the exhaust unless I’m 100% sure I will be able to live with it. I just want a little bite when I’m horsing around and quiet when commuting. So I think an EVC is the way to go. I was hoping the muffler delete added a bit of nice noise without much of a sacrifice. Hopefully I get to hear hgboss’ :) first!!

Let me know when you’re near Yonge st & 401 that’s where i’m Usually at.
Since you’re driving a lot on the highway, just to let you know, I experience 0 drone on comfort mode until 100km/h. Drone starts and persist from 100km/h until 125km/h. After that no more drone. Just consider the information if your drive in comfort or eco mode and normal acceleration.
I don’t know if I was clear.
