• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Also have a FB group for vancouver stingers. It’s called “Kia Stinger Owners Vancouver” hoping time meet you all one day.

Hey Guys, Im starting to do my research on buying a stinger. Just wondering what the reliability is like on this car, maintenance cost, insurance ect...compared to like...a Honda Civic. Just want to see if this is affordable to me. Will this be more expensive than owning lets say an Accord? and How much off MSRP did you guys get off (not including rebates. Literally out of the dealer's pocket). I have to say this would also be the first time I buy a new car. I've been buying used cars my whole life and figured this is a good time for me to get a new one for once in my life lol.

Insurance will go UP. The amount of $$ you spend on gas will go UP. The enjoyment you get out of owning and driving a new Stinger will be all worth it. Get out there and make a deal that you can live with and pull the trigger. I can’t really remember what I payed but I had three stealerships vying for my business and they were all pretty close on their best price. One thing I would suggest is that you get whatever stealership you deal with to GIVE you the Global Warranty package at zero cost. You can thank me later on that one. But seriously don’t worry about what other people payed make a deal you are happy with and stand your ground don’t be afraid to walk out the door. I found Nav the sales manager at Vancouver Kia (sw Marine & Cambie) to be a pretty straightforward guy to negotiate with. Good luck and keep us posted on your journey to ownership.

Thanks for the tips! Basically I'm doing the research now and waiting about a year for a good deal on the 2021's (also to save for a hefty down payment). I hear potentially this may be the last year these will be produced if they don't start selling more. Have you heard much on the new ones coming out?

definitely post in the local FB group. I think there are more active people there.

Maybe. But this is where the enthusiast hang out and I personally don’t have a lot of patience for Facebook. Perhaps you would like to be the liaison.

I cant respond on reliability on have had it for 1600km.
You could wait till 2021 but you can still pull a doug demuro. I.E. buy a older new model that hasnt sold from last year.
I bought a 2019 limited in August 2020 for 42k vs 52k new. Although they are still have 4k cash discounts or 0% financing those are the things you have to weigh in.

42k is basically a accord top trim T.T

Cost of ownership. In the city like 15L/100km and 94 chevron and 91 shell. Vs regular accord so huge difference there. So it depends how much you drive.

Id compare the ownership to an audi, accord not really comparable. This requires synthetic oil and should be treated like a sports sedan. It will cost more, but not as much as an AUDI but drives like one to boot.

Street legal in Port moody did my limo tint for the 3 rears. Got it through Kia West so they gave me a cost price of $210. Wrap guys based in Langley gave me a quote of $400 cash to wrap the roof. Hope this info helps.

by cost more you mean if parts need replacing, regular maintenance ect...?

Charge out rates are higher for german dealerships, also parts cost more and regular maintenance i.e. oil changes cost more.

I paid 133$ for oil change and fluid top ups/tire checks at a kia dealership because its synthetic oil.

You could prob get an accord oil change for 60-70$ easy.

If your unsure you could also wait for the K5 2.5T model. It should come with 300HP.

The stinger V6 TT is a bit too much power for the regular roads haha Stinger 50k limited, 45k GT, 40k K5 2.5T

Stinger 2021 and 2022 coming for sure. Stinger in 2022 comes with a new 2.5T model same as the K5 and adds 3hp to the existing 3.3TT haha. Its also coming with revised rear lights, new diamond stitched seats, a new head unit and a revised variable exhaust system. Its out in Korea now for their 2021 model.

Stinger 2020 has LSD for the AWD system, previous years do not. Not sure if the 2.5T stinger will come to canada. They stopped the 2.0T for 2020 because i think no one was buying them.

Ahh I see.
So in general maintaining the stinger would be sort of in between the accord and german cars. I think I can handle that.

As far as the stinger 2.5T, I heard that was coming but wasn't sure when (and like you said if it'll even come out in Canada). But you think when the 2022's come out? How do you know the 2022 will come out? I keep hearing the stingers will be discontinued because of low sales numbers. (which I guess would be good for the people who are looking to buy a stinger). The 300hp will definitely do for me but unfortunately I'm one of those guys that would always want more if I know its available LOL. Also I'm assuming the 2.5T won't have as many features as the 3.3TT (sunroof, vented seats, nav ect...?)

the 2021 stingers are showing up in the dealers in America and they still have the old 2.0T motors. If they bring it to America earliest would be 2022 model year for late 2021.

Its low sales but not extremely low. The stinger is a oddity in a sense that alot of people with that kind of money would rather get a luxury brand, but cant see the forest for the trees and get no added value from a emblem.

for 50k canadian and especially 46k canadian its way more car than a Audi A5 or a BMW 4 Series base Grand Coupe.
Its a poor mans Audi S5 Sportback which goes for 75k Canadian similarly equipped... Remember its priced the same in America as it is here which is insane.

2.5T might replace the old 2.0T pricing which would be at 40k MSRP. That would still blow the doors off of a top spec Accord 2.0T touring.
And the old 2.0t had similar features to the 3.3 GT non-limited trim.

IMHO id still go for the 3.3TT, its a proven engine and has won awards for it. Its been around in the genesis for a while. This 2.5T is a new engine and it might be fine but who knows? Thats a risk

Im hearing that the 3.3TT will be replaced by the 3.5TT but Im also hearing that it won't be. Hopefully they keep the 3.3TT because I would rather have a tried and trued engine than risk it for 10 more horses. My plan was to buy the 2022 next year when they come out. Im currently trying to save for a hefty ~40-50% down payment to reduce the monthly financing cost lol
