My Stinger was just totaled due to hail damage. So the question is…would you by another one?

I’m currently looking for another one because truthfully, I’m not over the car yet. I’ve wanted one since they came out. Just got my hands on one 5-6 months ago and you couldn’t remove my smile with a shotgun. I drove it everyday, proudly. And miss it terribly. I’m just asking y'alls opinion.

I think you answered your own question. Go ahead and get another one. Stinger offers such value!

If i had to do it over again, unsure. If the dealer network was better, then definitely. But in the last 2 years I don't think it's improved any.

Yup, I did, I had a 2020 GT, put 108k miles on it and loved the car. I looked for 8 months and nothing out there does everything the Stinger does or even seems close to me. I just bought a 2019 GT2 with only 6k miles, I hope it treats me as well as the first!

Wow, must've been some big time hail. My Stinger got hailed on pretty bad last year was over 10k in damage but the hail wasn't massive golf ball size or anything. Took em over 2 months to get me the car back correctly. Hail is like the ultimate FU I hate it!

Wow!!

We started with a '19 Stinger 2.0T back in late 2020, then added a '21 G70 6MT 7 months later. I just started looking for #3 a month a go. Since my son and I have worked on the two cars so much in the past 2yrs, we are very familiar with the platform, so the choice was simple. What was tough tough was choosing which one to get... another G70 or Stinger. In the end, got a '23 Stinger 2.5T.

A couple of years later, I might be looking at getting a G70 2.5T, before Genesis ixnays the whole line.

I don't think g70 comes with 2.5. It's only 2.0 or 3.3

Not for 2019-2023. The second refresh, starting model year 2024 for North America, will have the 2.5T replacing 2.0T in the base model. In the KDM, G70 2.5T has already been out for a few months now.

My guess is that, like the first G70 refresh (2022-23), Genesis will let the second refresh go for a couple of model years (2024-25), before canning the whole G70 line.

Didn't know that. That 2.5 looks like a realy nice compromise to 3.3. If 2.5 option was available on stinger when I was shopping for one, I really don't know which one i would have chosen.

Given that the Stinger is discontinued, and I'm not a fan of buying used performance cars, it would be a tough decision for me.

The GT2 trim is at the very top of my budget, and frankly I don't know if I want to spend that much on a car again anytime soon. I can make the payments, but it would also be nice to have a couple extra hundred dollars to save/invest/whatever each month.

I really love the car for the jack of all trades aspect. That was the biggest selling point for me. Really hard to find a liftback with this level of performance, luxury and comfort.

Why stick with a four banger? Why not go with the V6?
When I started looking at the Stinger back when it came out in 2018, I never considered anything else but the V6.
That's kind of the whole point of the car, I would think.
Anyway, now that I finally have one, I'm thrilled with the car. It's still stock for now, but it goes like stink.

See long answer here: 3.3TT - WTF happened to my rotors? (Track Day)

In short, performance is far more than just raw HP/TQ.

Everyone has their preferences and price point. That's like asking why buy a WRX when the STi exist(ed). Why buy a GTI when the Golf R exists. Why buy a Civic Si when the Type R exists, etc.

I had the same question when I had a V6 Camaro. 'Why not buy the V8?!?!" Cause at the time that thing was 8K to 10K more. The current gen V6 was (and still is) a good, RWD performance car for it's price range. New RWD cars are in short supply in the upper 20K to low 30K range. You can count them on one hand.

I like the 3.3T and think it's an excellent mill. Almost bought a G70 3.3T in fact and still might in the future. I just don't think it's a must for HPDE.

Randy Pobst famously owns a 2.0T Camaro 1LE, when he could've easily afforded a V8 SS 1LE, or even the supercharged ZL1 ILE.

For the muscle car crowd that fixate on gapping the fool in the other lane, the engine of course is everything. For those of us who appreciate the essence of true performance driving, the rest of the car matters just as much, if not far more.

op, yes. I already did. when I thought my first one was a goner I bought the 2.0l premium. both are satisfying because I don't drag race anybody and when you need to pass quickly the 2.0l has enough torque just needs more gas to do what the 3.3l does effortlessly.

I went through the same thing as you (not the hail), but the "should I buy another Stinger" thing. I was involved in a car accident at the beginning of July of this year (2023). She was totaled by my insurance company.

Short history of ownership; I purchased her fresh off the showroom floor in 2018. When I bought her, the Stinger GT2 wasn't even really on my radar at the time...just a whim to check it out. The Stinger had me at first sight and initial test drive. I had it paid off within a few years and I loved every minute of my 2018 GT2 Stinger!

So then I had to replace her with something. I looked at everything; Merc, BMW, Audi, etc. NOTHING and I mean NOTHING beats the Stinger for bang for the buck in a sports sedan. I mean you can be in the ballpark price wise with other cars, but then you add all the extras that come with the Stinger GT2 to the other cars and you're $10,000-$15,000 above a Stinger GT2 price wise at a minimum.

In any event, I've said this before...I'm ashamed I even looked at anything else. I bought a 2023 Kia Stinger GT2 and I am loving her!! :)
