I have noticed that when low level sun (morning/evening) strikes my windshield, that there are thousands of "sparkles" visible. The effect is like the tiny pitting that one gets in older cars' windshields from many years of striking tiny particles ... only much worse. Not sure if the sparkles are superficial or internal to the glass.I am in the process of dealing with this. Will advise of outcome.Stinger Windshield 3.webp

Have you tried polishing it? Claying?

I have talked to a local body/glass shop about that, but I'm afraid to do anything until Kia has a crack at it. Don't want to void my warranty. My original dealer (125 miles away) said that warranty doesn't cover. Sounds insane. I'm now dealing with a local dealer. Appointment in a couple of days.

google . "how to clean a windshield" , there are a few vids to show how to completely clean your windshield properly including claying .............a clean windshield will reduce the effect youre seeing but not eliminate it .................all my BMW's had the same thing .

It is glass.. it will get etched and scratched like every other car out there. Definitely clean it well and polish it.

It's a brand new car! Why would there be any etches or scratches? The windshield in my 15 year old Expedition (163,000 miles) looks much better.
its not on the glass , its in the glass

You might have gotten a bad piece of glass.. it is possible. Maybe the plant was dusty or cold that day.

For the dealer to deny it with out even looking at it is not good. You should have reached out to their GM to discuss. Some years back I had a crack develop on my Audi and they told me it must have happened from a stone chip. I explained the car was not hit by a rock and there was no place you cold see that it was hit. The day I took it in to have it checked, the regional rep was there, they examined it and found that it was not due to external force so they replaced it.

If the local dealer is not helpful, reach out to KIA directly. The dealer can't deny something without even looking at it to see what it is. That's just poor service.

Thanks. Having a conversation with selling dealer GM this afternoon. Checking with local (nearby) Kia dealer in two days.

My Dealer had no hesitation in rectifying, Just push harder!
Thanks, Shannon. Did Kia determine that the windshield problem was external or internal to the glass? I assume they replaced your windshield. Any problems afterward?

It was thought to be external contamination and was polished out (under warranty). I don't know what product they used but the result was extremely good.

Had my windshield replaced last week. There was a small scrape and crack on the inside, presumably from when they did the re-paint. I noticed it while driving home after picking it up. The dealer people said it would be a warranty repair, but had to wait for the rep to approve. Rep arrived a week later, approved it, and within 5 days I had a new windshield.... i still wonder if I was the one that caused the actual damage...

That would drive me nuts, even worse than the identified two tone window trim!
Damn unfortunate...

I have a continuous, faint pattern of little diagonal "U"s, close together and about 3/16" high each. They only really show around the sun halo and are nowhere near as distracting as the OP's picture. Not the same thing at all, imho. I think what I see in my glass is a bonding pattern between the two plates of acoustic glass.

Thats what im seeing and.posted sbout the other day..no u pattern just sparkles and stuff.... i think it could be adhesive from my clear install...lil dots... wash
