Windshield Defect

Thats what im seeing and.posted sbout the other day..no u pattern just sparkles and stuff.... i think it could be adhesive from my clear install...lil dots... wash
You mean a spray-on clear? They wouldn't spray the glass too, would they?

maybe overspray ??
Yeah, that's where I was going with this. Something careless. I can't imagine a deliberate spray on that did that to glass.

Yep ...over spray.....When they do the hood its a fairly big piece...they use soapy alcohol mixtures......then theres the adhesive on the clear.....I see the lil dots and I think ive got some of them off.....before that I thought they were sandwiched in the layers of the window.... a strong cleaner wax on the window seems to be melting them away with elbow grease ....Wash

If it doesn't work you can always slash your wrist in frustration.

Call the medics ...Dammmittt...I just got back from the clear bra installer who is next door to a badazz detail shop.....they see what im seeing and clay barred the inside and out...no effin dice! Its in the layers...gotta be......I am not anal...lol....I just don't think a new cars windshield should look like its covered in tree sap....if I drive it on a cloudy day its fine....Ha...okay so ill get another stinger to drive on a sunny day?....the chances of a bigtime screw up would be to get a new windshield from the dealer...im bummed....Wash

Your marks aren't in a regular consistency and pattern? Because mine are; as I've said, they look like little angled "U"s or round bottomed "V"s, set close together, all over the entire windshield. They only really show up as a faint, glittery halo around the sun. Maybe they shouldn't be there; but maybe they are an artifact of the glass bonding process. (I know I'm repeating myself; but are you reconsidering what the cause between the two panes of glass could be?)

Hey Merlin.....the post a few back I said that they were going away with some cleaner wax...nope I was wrong...I was wishing they were going away is all
They are in no order at all...on the left side in the middle on the right side top to bottom........it really does like like tree sap sometimes...then if the sun hits them they sparkle a lil....then sometimes they are white depending on the sun angle.....the window is smooth after the clay bar....and then the detailer had something to rub with on the inside....im saying its in the layers....my two other rides are early 2000 and their front windows look better.....I see how much glass there is and im thinkin with my luck replacing the window would be worse ? Wash
Heres proof im not anal

Today when I was talking about door inside edge paint on MY19s, my sales guy also listened to my observations about flecks, sparkles, "stuff", shining in the windshield glass. I point out the tiny "U" pattern and the general "glitter" when looking through toward the sun. And he said, "My Forté windshield has that too." We decided it's just windshield glass on modern, mass production cars. I think that the "U" pattern is the built in shatter points so that the glass turns granular instead of sharp pieces that would cut people up.

I bought my GT in March and have tried to clean off the glitter/flecks/bubbles and I am convinced they are in the glass layers. KIA repair manager saw them but the Stinger rep has to confirm. Still trying to get rep and sunshine together. Pain in ass driving into the sun in the morning.

Wash, on the other hand if you get frustrate you can always built that AR in the picture and show us what you got there. If the window bother you too much you can always shoot the sh*% out of it and get a new replacement. :ninja:

Haha what a great idea ! Got me some different grades of clay bars and redid the front window along with the parts of the car that arnt clear bra.....theres been no sun to look at the window....but I might have got it......My better half sees it also and says nope im not crazy...well not too crazy....we live right across the alley and street from the big police substation....they can hear me just slapping a mag into one....lol.....yes they have been over here too...and in less than 30 seconds...they don't drive they run across the alley....we bake them brownies and take em over there bout once a month or so....:) Wash

I noticed small 'water spots' or 'tree sap' on my windows when I took delivery of it. I tried everything i knew to remove them, with no luck.

I contacted a local high-end detailer and he told me to get 0000 steel wool, a little bit of Dawn dish soap and water. I questioned him twice about using the 0000 steel wool. Then, I Googled it and found that it is a common way to clean glass windshields.

So, with a little bit of hesitation, I tried it. Wow, my windows on the Stinger are now flawlessly clear.

* - Word of caution, it works perfectly on the glass. Do not hit the rubber moulding or trim with the steel wool.

Thanks for the info....I even have iron x to try that was suggested....but I think I might have got it off...cant tell till bright sunlight.....every detailer sees it and tries to get it off...I still say its in the layers.....ocd im not.....but ill just drive on cloudy days or night....LOL Wash

I'm going to remember the steel wool suggestion. No matter how well you clean your glass there is always something on it. But I'm not going to hassle with this during the cold months!

Heres a carwash detail guys trick from the 80's take a newspaper crumble it up and wipe wirh pressure...spotless windshield....the ink and the type of paper do a good job.....good luck on finding a newspaper Wash...
If those crazy dots are tbere when the sunshine comes back....could be target practice like Jhonni suggested. If the steel wool doesnt work.... Wash

It's a brand new car! Why would there be any etches or scratches? The windshield in my 15 year old Expedition (163,000 miles) looks much better.
I have just purchased a Kia Rio GT in Sydney , exact same problem. They say they replaced the windshield will test it today just before sun set 2020

I have noticed that when low level sun (morning/evening) strikes my windshield, that there are thousands of "sparkles" visible. The effect is like the tiny pitting that one gets in older cars' windshields from many years of striking tiny particles ... only much worse. Not sure if the sparkles are superficial or internal to the glass.I am in the process of dealing with this. Will advise of outcome.View attachment 15123
I had the same problem in my 2008 Stinger Gt. I badgered the hell out of them until they replaced it free of charge.
