Who else has had warped rotors?

I just got my stinger back from the dealer. They said they would replace the rotors once under warranty and I could choice to do it now or later down the road. I feel a ton of vibration in the steering wheel when braking and I’ve put 8,000 miles of normal driving on it. Not sure if I should get them replaced now or wait.

If anyone is having their rotors turned, make sure that a "centerless" technique is used. Anything else will reduce braking performance. The preference is new rotors if the dealer will provide them. As a previous poster reported, all brake pads should be properly bedded or seasoned by several (10) hard braking sessions on a straight line from 60mph or higher to 10mph. Never stop the car completely during this process as some brake pad material may bind itself to the rotor at a stop. Some light smoking from the pads during this process is considered normal.

I just replaced my "warped" Sorento rotors and pads with a "performance" brand this morning, break in was 5x40-10, 5x35-5, then a gentle drive with limited braking for at least 5 minutes.

I then went to a friends lake house, some freeway, some fast and winding country roads, but their community has some of the most extreme hills you'll ever see (like San Francisco crazy!) - I am happy to report my vibration is gone, but also a really nice improvement in feel and response.

Bah just got back from a family road trip w stinger. No issues going to destination. On return trip at highway speeds the steering wheel would shake left/right and vibrate when applying the brakes.
Bummer I may have an issue w rotors @ <4000 miles. Will be making visit to dealership.. seems kinda early for this issue to pop up w normal daily driving

For me, it's not noticeable thru the steering; most noticeable at higher speeds on gradual descents with minimal brake applied, such as when the cruise control is auto braking. Don't think it's so noticeable with heavy braking.

I believe what you're experiencing is the car automatically braking for you while you go down a slope in order to not exceed the speed set by the Cruise Control. I noticed this in the mountains of Tennessee when I started smelling hot brakes. Every since, when on a slope that would have the car exceeding the set speed by a few miles per hour or more, I cancel the Cruise Control. The braking logic it employs appears to be very bad.

This rotor issue extends beyond just the Stinger. My brother's Kia Optima had this problem within 2k. My Hyundai Equus Ultimate had this problem with 400miles on the clock. Really upset me that they refused to replace the rotors on that $71k dollar car...but resurfaced them. It's a Hyundai/Kia problem. My Stinger is displaying this issue with 3k on it. Not throwing hate at Kia, but I hope they continue in the effort to remedy the situation. I'm going in next week for my fix.

Dam I thaught I was going crazy. My steering wheel started shaking a little under braking also at 2000 or so miles on car. I told my self this car is brand new how are brakes screwed up already.I guess I’ll be taking it in to dealer soon

Not sure it's a Kia problem. In my research, I've read that rotors don't actually warp, but what happens is the resins that bind the pad material can/do break down when overheated, so if you are getting the brakes hot, then coming to a stop with the brakes on, it deposits brake pad material onto the rotors in that spot.

The break-in instructions for my new pads & rotors goes to great lengths to ensure you don't come to a complete stop during the procedure.

Just as we know we should not shut down a turbocharged vehicle immediately after aggressive driving, we should come to a stop and hold on the brakes with one that has hot brakes.

As i read what i just wrote i found myself laughing since they didnt even deflate the tires on my car...so...off to bed the pads this evening. Still only 1500 of very light driving on mine so hopefully no issues yet.

I just got back from dealership
Steering wheel shake and some pulsating in brake pedal very noticeable at highway speed braking lightly. Started around 3.5k miles.
They resurfaced rotors but they said it's better but still wobbles. They are contacting kia consumer affairs to see if they can replace rotors for free. Hopefully it's a free fix I'll find out in the next week. hopefully I just got a defective rotor and it's not a rotor quality problem we all deal w that keeps reoccuring. We shall see.. I never track my car just daily driving

6-2-18.....13k miles on my stinger. Took into dealer today to change oil, noticed prominent tire shake upon braking. Had them check it out, said they need to turn the rotors. So seems to be a definite problem with Stinger rotor and braking system.

What’s problem with rotors kia? Hope they didn’t go cheap.I thaught brembo was top line brake system. Obviously there is something wrong when allot of people are having problems with very low miles on cars. A little over 3 thousand miles and I am getting shake threw steering wheel when I brake. Not good kia

What the hell is brake fade Compensation software. Well I’ll tell ya stinger owners are going through same thing bmw owners did years ago with brake software. Supposed to help if brakes get to hot to stop fluid from boiling and brakes pedal going to floor. I don’t think tech is 100% in that field yet.

Owners with brake disc issues, remember this is a new car for Kia & they also give good warranty, so if it is a design issue I’m sure these problems will be resolved under warranty. My experience with our former & current Kia’s is that my dealer here has no problem fixing any issue that may arise which would be approved by Kia AU.
This is just my personal experience.

Yes I have never had problems with warranty work kia. But all the work they did on this car especially track time you think the brake problem would have came up. Maybe we are doing something wrong who knows.
