Who else has had warped rotors?

I have 1800+ miles and brought my car in today because the rotors were so horribly warped.. dealer said they resurfaced all 4, and if it occurs again everything would be replaced.

Yes, mine are warped and have been for a while now. I'm nearly due for 10,000km service, so will have them assessed then. Surprising really, given they're Brembos all round, and I haven't done any 'racing' or long/steep downhills to speak of.

It's really noticeable/annoying when you're running cruise control and heading downhill - nasty shuddering.

I’d want them replaced under warranty, they should not do that under normal driving conditions with only 10,000kms.

Generally & worse when braking, also depends on how bad they are warped

For me, it's not noticeable thru the steering; most noticeable at higher speeds on gradual descents with minimal brake applied, such as when the cruise control is auto braking. Don't think it's so noticeable with heavy braking.

Yes, I think I'll push for warranty replacements

This is why I always change out OE rotors by 40,000kms with dba rotors as I posted earlier this year under dba rotors. I have been told by a dba representative that rotors will be available later this year.

You should always perform the bedding procedure on brakes. Drive to 60mph (100kph), brake firmly in a straight line--not hard enough to engage ABS, but firm. This should be repeated approximately 10 times. Also, in general, avoid trail braking (braking while turning). Always try to brake before the turn, if braking is needed. Warped rotors are often due to improper bedding (or lack of), and trail braking. Given that the Stinger is a heavy car, it's all the more important.

Rotors don't warp but they can wear unevenly (known as disc thickness variation - DTV) which is why you will get the pulsating when brakes are applied. Especially noticeable on down hill braking, even very gentle braking. DTV has nothing whatsoever to do with how you bed the brakes in and it is more common on some models of vehicles than others.

If the brake rotor has excessive run out you will get DTV sooner or later. It does not matter if you put new rotors and pads on, if there is still excessive run out on the brake rotor once fitted you will get DTV back again in 5-10000 miles. So if you have a DTV problem the first thing you need to do is to either machine the rotor or replace it and then when fitted check for runout. You will need to replace the pads also. If you find excessive runout on the brake rotor then the seating of the rotor on the hub needs to be checked because that could be the cause if it is not sitting true. If not the cause, the hub itself needs to be checked for runout because it may not be rotating true and once the rotor is fitted there will be excessive runout and DTV will be the result.

Yes just had mine resurfaced by the dealer. I was shocked this happened. This was a month ago with 5000 miles on the car. As of last week it's starting to happen again. I'm going to push for replacement. Just normal daily driving for me. I hope they get to the bottom of this. It sounds like it's becoming a real issue...

Mine are starting to warp ever so slightly. Can feel slight wobble under braking. 2800 miles. Argh

In dealing with this issue myself, I've come to discover that rotors don't actually warp, but rather pad material buildup on the rotor surface causes pulsating when brakes are applied. I'll leave it at that for now.

8 to 10 times of back to back hard braking from roughly 60mph to 5mph. Hard braking but not hard enough to activate the ABS.
