Mobile One is the choice of KIA, but are the other opinions out there about motor oils that are better for the Stinger? One example is Royal Purple.

Any opinions or experience with other synthetics other that Mobile One? I hear AMSOIL is pretty good.

we're supposed to be using the Euro formula?
Nope. It's just so happens that many 5w40 synthetic motor oils are labeled as Euro. That's most likely because Euro car mfrs call for 5w40 a lot more often than American or Asian mfrs. So motor oil mfrs tend to cater their 5w40 to those applications. So, 5w40 is more likely to be tested to European ACEA standards than, say, American API standards.

That doesn't mean Euro formula oils are not suitable for non-euro vehicles. There are some minor variances in the formulation, but not enough to make them incompatible with vehicles that call for API standards. I myself like running 5w40 for hot Summers here in TX, especially for running track.

To me 5W40 is less ideal than 5W30.

You should also take notice of the A5 rating.

There is a Castrol 5W30 C3 and a 5W30 A5

I dont know the differences between other brand 5W30 oils but I note that the A5 is recommended but the C3 is not

Even the bestest premium high-$$ oil will degrade with use. I'd much rather catch any of the name brand synthetics on sale, than worrying about which oil is best. Any name brand synthetic oil fresh right out of the bottle is better than the most expensive boutique brand that's been driven on for 2500 miles. Same goes for a brand new oil filter vs. a used one.

Best protection is to buy 'em cheap, stock 'em deep, and change out frequently. This is especially true if the driving conditions change, so you can pick the right oil that suits best the conditions during the next interval.

As a person who simply thought that all oils of the same grade were the same I have done some research on 5W30 C3 versus 5W30 A5.

When I search for oils suitable for the Kia Stinger GT 3.3TT various sellers say that C3 oil is not recommended along with others.

C3 oils are designed for three stage catalytic converters and Diesel Particulate Filters. There are other grades of Castrol 5W30 as well and are marked as not suitable for Stinger while others are

A5 oils are designed for low friction motors and are lower viscosity. They also improve fuel consumption. Maybe this is the reason Kia recommend them.

So whilst any brand 5W30 may be bought for whatever reason I think it's wise to suss the oil out first and see if it is recommended and not just because it is 5W30....

From my 2020 manual. Quaker State meets latest ILSAC-GF6A spec. Their Euro flavours do not meet the specs
