Wheel/size/offset and tire/size/profile...can be confusing.

My only concern was it clearing the suspension. The tire diameter is very close to stock 19"s so wasn't sure if I would need them or not. I was thinking no but just posting the question to see.

The overall wheel diameter with the 20" rims is 680mm and 679mm. Stock is 663mm and 661mm.

Looking at the tire size calculator the 245/30/20 is 26.8, which is .600 over the factory at 26.2. The 285/30/20 is 26.7 which is .500 over the factory 26.2 So that is just one half inch. That will help fill up the wheel well as the car isn't lowered. So should still work just fine I would say .

So I am looking at getting these wheels.

(2) 20x9 Vertini RF1.7 Satin Black w/ Gloss Black Lip (Rotary Forged)

(2) 20x10 Vertini RF1.7 Satin Black w/ Gloss Black Lip (Rotary Forged)

with 245/35/20 and 285/30/20..I am wondering if I will need spacers or not. The offset is 30 on the front 40 on the rear.

Thanks
Fronts will clear struts and will be fine. Rear 285/30/20 with 20x10 +40 may rub on dips depending on the tire. Mine was 20x10 +45 (+40 with 5mm spacer) and it rubbed slightly on dips on the highway with Michelin PS AS3+ tires. I’ve since gone back to 20x10 +45 and no rubbing at all now. The tire is completely flush with the top of the fender aswell.

so next question. With changing to a 35 and 30 profile. How bad is that going to make the ride? It is a daily driver and also some highway driving. Roads around town are not to bad but they are still city roads. lol

This car, a Gran Turismo, is the calculated compromise between comfort over long distances (ride smoothness and cabin noise and seating) and performance. I was attracted to that balancing act simply by reading the promotional book: it hardly seemed doable, yet here was Kia (that was the hardest part of the recipe: Gran Turismo retro, "redefined", by Kia!?) asserting that they had pulled this off near perfection. The test drive cemented my conviction that the assertions were real: it took one brief weekend of widened research between test drive and purchase.

What you are seeking is more away from the Gran Turismo and more toward the muscle car look and performance. I tend to go the other way. Already, with the OE tires, the Stinger GT is noisy: not enough to discount the claims of luxury and comfort, but some road surfaces do push into the cabin in a big way, making music and even conversation less than satisfying: and the ride quality trending toward harsh. I would never thin down the sidewalls even further with this car. If my focus was street performance, I would not have a Stinger.

well being that I have already changed the exhaust to a performance exhaust, with intakes and chip. I would say I am far away from the Gran Turismo. All I don't want is the car to ride like a lowered honda on railroad tracks. Been there done that. I am muscle car guy have been for years. So leaving a car stock just isn't me. That being said, I just don't want it to get where the 200 mile drive my teeth are hurting or I need to see a chiropractor to make the trip back. I had originally been looking at 19" but those seem to be harder to find than the 20", so that is the reason for the 20"s.. I have two stingers. One has factory 19's staggered the other 18's not staggered. The look of the 19's makes a huge difference between the two.

So I daily drive mine a lot and have already put on over 8,000km with my new wheels and tires. The road noise at high speeds (120km+) is a little bit noisier than I would prefer, but I deal with it since I choose Michelin AS3+ tires, which are more performance oriented all season tires. I heard Continental DWS06 PLUS has a quieter and softer ride compared to the AS3+, but isn’t as good performance wise.

Just a option, all season tires. Softer and quieter if all out performance isn't a concern.

I was going to get the Continental as one of the stingers has them on it now. I have also run them on the Optima's that I have had with very good luck with them

18x8.5 Enkei TY-5 with 255/40s fits. With a mirror I was able to see about 7-10mm max clearance, but it’s not going anywhere. After driving hard I took a front wheel off and no signs of rubbing. This is to have a summer set for wet Autocross and the OEM ones will be used for my winter studded tires for easy swaps. TSW NEPTUNES 20x10 and 20x9.

Will 255 35 and 295 30 work?

Lowered on M&S Springs. GT1 AWD
Depends on the model tire and offset. That’s a wider, taller (heavier) tire than most are using, but not by much.
You can make it work though. There’s not a lot of wiggle room with a 9” front wheel.

I considered those same tire sizes and came to the conclusion that I’d keep it simple with the first set of tires and do the 245/35; 285/30 everyone has had success with. It becomes more trouble than it’s worth if things don’t fit right.

My PS 4s have more clearance than the same size PS A/S 3+. Measurement charts have to be taken with a grain of salt. I may go larger with my next set of PS 4s.

But, with that said, I’m pretty sure someone last year fit a 265/305 combo, so sometimes the bold prevail and pave the trail.

One thing people need to consider, is regardless of springs used, suspension travel remains the same. Full compression and full droop are what they are. All we (coil swappers) are changing is ride height.

Coilovers like Riaction can change up and down travel or bump stops can be changed to adjust more or less up-travel.

My concern is more sidewall. I cracked a rim. What would you suggest for more sidewall?
A truck :) One of those new Sasquatch Broncos that come with 35s!

A lot of guys go with 19” and 18”
I see lots of the Canadians in particular going this route.
I should too living in NJ which is one contiguous pothole, but this is the life I’ve chosen.

Back to those storm springs, you have more up travel at ride height than most of us with Eibach and H&R that drop us lower. So that probably mitigates bottoming out issues a bit.

I was running 255 30 and 295 25. Those worked but I need more side wall. I am going to get PS4's as well. I am still stuck on whether or not they will fit at 255 35 and 295 30.......

8.5 18s at 35 offset with 255 wide tires. No issues.

225/45R18 on 18x8 is the "best fit". If you're ordering new tires to go on 18x8's, I'd do that.

255/35R18 on 18x8 is going to be significantly wider, give you about 4% speedometer error, and look kinda funny with crazy backwards stretch, if it even seated right.

255/35R18 on 18x9 would be fine without any weird stretch, but you'll still be a bit taller than stock, same 4% speedo error.

For winter tires, I would just stick with stock wheel sizes. Going wider trying to squeeze performance out of winter tires isn't going to get you anywhere IMO.

Stock sizes are:
18x8 all around - 225/45R18

19x8 (front) - 225/40R19
19x9 (rear) - 255/35R19

And 19" winter tires are expensive, so I think an 18x8 square setup is the way to go. Cheaper, more sidewall for invisible potholes, and more tire selection.

If I’m shopping for rims would you recommend I just go with the 18x8 in general? I have the 18 GT AWD with the staggered wheels but I wouldn’t mind downsizing to get more wall since I live in Indiana and our winters bring hella potholes. Also would it affect my performance or handling?
